  • Great pictures. One of the most beautiful songs and performances EVER.

  • A legend in his own life time. One of our greatest lyric writers an accomplished musician & song writer of our time. A privilege to have seen him live. irra

  • Nice job on the slideshow, Among the best I've seen. Thanks.

  • Is this a chromatic harmonica? It just sounds different from the blues harp.

  • "Like criminals they choked the breath of conscience and good cheer" refers to healthcare companies and biotech firms which apply synthetic telepathy/neuro-impulse weapons from clandestine subterranean lab facilties so as to affect their socio-economic eugentic purposes.

  • @bb4960 Yeah I am pretty sure that is not what Dylan was referring to here...lol.....

  • But he wasnt doing anything! YOU were the one who was being confrontational!

  • "every hair is numbered, like every grain of sand"

  • How can anyone not be moved by Bob Dylan's deep and thoughtful prose...? He is an angel placed on earth to walk among us...and maybe show us the way we should be walking....God bless you Bob....He's truely blessed us with you. Thank You and goodnight.

  • Don't be draggin' on Christians just because you haven't been saved. I see sparrows all the time. You prolly don't live In their migration pattern

  • I love you dear Bob Dylan, everytime I listen to you it seems it is the first time I hear your songs. Ohhhhhhhh my dear my dear, so much longing, sorrow, pain, disappointment, happiness, sorrow ...... I feel when I listen to your wonderful songs.

So touching Video film pictures. Thank you

  • Whenever I feel loneliness, kind of despair and emptiness in my life, I recall this song. Only Dylan can write such a deep and personal emotional lyrics accompanying with a wonderful melody. I think that even Lennon cannot write such a deep lyrics. I feel God most for this paticular song.

  • The harmonica solo is great. Lots of people think of harmonica as really shrill, but here its very calm and reflective.

  • its God.... in every grain of sand.

  • @BILLCLINTONCAUSED911 fool for god, eh? when did you last see a sparrow?

  • Theyre outside my window all the time. Sparrows are plentiful. Whats your point?

Youre just discriminating against me because of my religion?

  • This song is ABOUT GOD.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, I've an annoying habit of responding to confrontational people when I'm drunk (in this case BILLCLINTONCAUSED911). I'm often as stumped as to my original point as others :) Apologies for any confusion caused.

  • I am so very thankful to live in the same time period as mr. bob dylan. To be able to listen and experience his songs.

  • great vid, thanks...

  • This has the same song structure as "Chimes of Freedom" from '64.

  • strongly resembling it, no doubts

  • Yes, and everybody hurts by R.E.M.

(I know that is a newer one...)

  • easily the greatest bob dylan song. and, considering that dylan was obviously the best, that would make this the greatest song of all time.

*sigh*, if only others could understand the sheer genius and vulnerability of bobby d: the greatest musician to have ever lived..

all in my humble opinion, of course :)

  • totally agree with you my friend...........

    all hail the king.

  • wonderful song, a classic, he should get a medal, just for this song alone.

  • Beautiful...

  • Discovered this song through the film "Another Day in Paradise." It was a beautiful scene...

  • One of Dylan's most under-appreciated songs. Truly beautiful lyrics; a haunting melody.

A modern day hymn, as someone posted.

Amazing job with the slide show.

    Thank you, novaultrano1!!!

  • what can i say

  • BEATIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think Dylan is great, especially this number. But there are so many more...

I don't think Bob Dylan had all the answers, but he makes us ask all the right questions.

  • My dad wants this played at his funeral...And i can see why.

  • R.I.P. Jason i miss so so much,i am sorry.. would give anything to go see Bobby with you one more time..Don't have the inclination to

look back on any mistake...I LOVE YOU MAN...Brent

  • reading your comment almost made me cry...you were a good friend and Jason knows that!

  • Same, I'm wearing my Gallery of Suicide long sleeve T right now... The only reason I'm commenting is because I saw your post...

    Definitely a great song.

  • Nice video!

  • beautiful

  • bobby hits hard

  • This song just saved me from killing someone.

  • yeah, anyone.. period. Bob says it best! keep looking his vids!!

  • Aargh. Stop it, please. Just don't make over-literal slideshows which have a picture of a beach when Bob mentions grains of sand, blokes in helmets in a trench when he talks about danger. And so on. D'you get me?

  • Mmm, nice.

I have made lots of videos. Some of them have won awards.

I just don't really like this one.

Don't you love the internet? The exhiliarating freedom to insult strangers anonymously.

    Great song, though.

  • lol...yeah lots of "award winning" video producers go on You-Tube to rip amatures who try to put something together! LOL...that would be far to sad to imagine so I'll assume youre just an ass.

peace...and it IS a great song! ya gotta Love Bob Dylan, eh?!!!

  • what the fuck do you know? youve got a fucking yoga video on your channel! nice work

  • great song and great video only one question whats with the panting of one of the worlds greatest liars joseph smith at 4:34 it kind of defeats the message of the song

    Fingers on the Pulse!

    Brought Tears.

  • In memory to my best friend Joe. He died ten months after we the movie "Another Day In Paradise" had seen, as a result of its heroin addiction. This song was played at the end of the movie. He was Dylan fan, such as I.

RIP my brother in Jesus arms. Amatoo!!!

    Brother Don.

  • THE BEST SONG OF ALL TIME

la più bella canzone che un cantautore abbia mai scritto.

  • I have to agree with you. No matter what religion you may be; these are some of the most powerful lyrics ever penned.

  • Beautiful song - perfection! Bob Dylan is my music god - and this song WILL be played at my funeral (hopefully not for a long time though)!

  • I played this song at my dads funeral and still can't listen to it without it bringing tears to my eyes.

One of the best songs of all time!!!

  • This is so beautiful.

  • Awesome. Thank you very much for putting your time into doing this video.

  • not dead yet. still like it played at funeral!!!!

  • This is a monumental song that stands alone. Nice slideshow - great use of art to delve into the depths of a great song. Every grain of sand is carved from the rock.

  • Icon, Poet, Genius, Recorder of the 20th Century. There are not the words available to describe him, so many thanks for posting.

  • he is so beautiful, bob dylan.

  • Thank you what a song

  • the last harmonica solo gives me shivers.

  • Yes, this is an astonishingly, amazing song! Hadn't heard it for a while.

Almost 50 years of writing music and lyrics that continue to showcase this man's talent......

What an excellent choice for a featured vid, Missy. Thank you.

  • Amazing

  • Its very nice. I like the bootleg series version even better.

  • ...I agree...the bootleg version makes one cry...be it in the morning or the evening...the bootleg version is unpolished and therefor timeless

  • This song needs no comments. It's beyond comments. Sigh.

The video is touching, especially the painting by Klimt at: '...every hair is numbered like every grain of sand'. Also the photo of a sparrow with Dylan's lyrics 'I am hanging in the balance of the reality of man

Like every sparrow falling, like every grain of sand' are just ah!

I like the photos of Dylan too. And I like this version because it is so 'slow' - you have more time to digest it.

  • I really like the bootleg version of this song a bit more. Even though I tend to like slower stuff, that version is faster than this. Seems more soulful though. Nice progression of images, but I thought a bit too old and preachy at first...not so much images of current times and people...and there are a ton of us around who are suffering, who need the message. Seemed to ignore that reality. Liked the pics of old dylan, but young would have been nice contrast. One of his best3songs I think.

  • Great job, sure says alot about all of us.

    jan378

  • Lovely. Thank you!

  • great work on slideshow, a dylan classic!

  • This is such a gorgeous, beautiful song. I love most of his religious/spiritual songs.

  • good song, heard it on movie-another day in paradise, i love it, 5 star for sure, make me question my lack of faith in gods or a 'higher power' a little, anyone no what happened to bob dylan or if he is still alive or what, i no nothing of them man , but i love this song, its 10 out of 10.

  • Bob Dylan is very much alive and kicking. I was at his concert in Norway 2008/05/30.

Log on to bobdylandotcom: read the lyrics, watch some videos, and read about "His Bobness"

  • I've been reading good things about this for so long...now I see why...

I don't know how one man could write a stone-cold classic so many times. Someone like that only comes along once in a generation.

  • I'm afraid it's more like once in a century!

  • i have to agree with mikimiki52007.

  • わが失恋の歌

  • My words exactly.

  • (^^)b

  • Hey, great job on this. --you used excellent thought provoking art to go with this song. peace and love to you!!

  • the best modern hymn.

  • Great Slideshow !!! also Joni Mitchell's - beautiful

  • Fabulous montage

    Dylan lives within us.

  • GENIUS BOB DYLAN!!!!

  • ...I prefer the version on the bootleg series...with the barking innocent dog in the backyard...tears from start.

  • I do agree on this. The dog however wasn't in the backyard, but in the kitchen were they recorded the song on the bootleg. (as far as I was told)

  • saved my life twice

  • One of the greatest songs of the 20th century

  • The poet of my generation.

  • This song is a beacon for me.

  • if you dom't get this you are sober

  • natjjohn: if you do get it, you might get sober.

  • Beautiful!!!A voice of Hope!!!!

  • Tremendous Dylan song

  • Both this song and "Nightswimming" by REM are kind of hypnotic in their effect in a good way.

  • This would be my desert island song.

I am hanging in the balance of the reality of man - like every sparrow falling - like every grain of sand.

What depths of sorrow and joy prompt a song like this?

  • Fantastic song! I truly believe Bob Dylan is a Christian. It is simply not possible to write with the breadth and depth of these lyrics without an intimate understanding of God's work on this earth and man's place in it.

"In the fury of the moment,

I can see the Master's hand.

    In every leaf that trembles,

    in every grain of sand."

    Thanks for posting this!

  • he was when he wrote this, though he has since turned back to Judaism i think...

  • Hits the nail right smack on the head for me.

  • The person who did this video did some other good ones too. novaultrano1 is the name in the upper right hand corner of this page. I especially like the one he did by Joni Mitchell.

  • ah the humanity

  • You should hear the demo of this Song on "The Bootleg Series" . I Think there is no best song of Dylan, he has made too many of them - best songs I mean.

  • Demo ends with the lines, "I am hanging in the balance of a perfect finished plan..." If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

  • sometimes words are greater than the suffering of life this is so damn close

  • Really nice Dylan interpretation, keep those dissolves moving in the same direction at the same same speed and you will be fives all over U Tube- Happy Chrismas

  • Wonderful! Thanks so much for posting.

  • Absolutely stunning. Thanks. Great work.

  • Beautiful x

  • awesome

  • More spiritual rewarding than a Sunday mass or revival....

  • like it played at my funeral

  • first heard this on the end of the movie-

another day in paradise and it seem to capture

    the theme of the movie.

  • Bob has it, gods gift and he shares it with all of us. I cant thank him enough but i can thank you

  • By far, Dylan's greatest masterpiece.

  • i cried when i first heard it.beautiful song

  • bob dylans best song video does it justice

  • Perhaps my favorite Dylan song.

  • Beautiful pictures to a beautiful song. Awesome!
