  • Been confused for years, couldn't find the movie I remembered. the female leads, etc. Here's the underwater scene I could not forget. The diverse cast. Thanks for posting.

  • Often confused with the very similarly titled "Wake of the Red Witch" (2 Ws and an R in each title) in which Wayne plays a more overt villain. Made five years apart, the two movies share similarities in the characters and climax. Both are wonderful films. And "Reap the Wild Wind" has Paulette Goddard in her prime. Both Goddard (the runner-up for the Scarlett O'Hara role) and Susan Hayward tested for the Scarlett part for "Gone With the Wind" (another movie with "Wind" in the title.

  • One of the best adventure films ever made.

  • I liked this movie has lots of twists and turns and funny spots like her singing the nelly b and getting a spanking later in the movie lol

but I wonder why was she wearing black leather pointe shoes before she changed out of the dress in to boots to go salvage the wreck?

  • John Wayne as the villain.

  • Good adventure love triangle movie. Unusual to see John Wayne in a lesser role to Ray Milland. Kept wanting Wayne to win out over Milland. Technicolor sea and sail adventure with spunky female role, unusual for that time. She was probably playing a hyper Scarlet, in followup to the original, without the overt femme fatale side. Actually she was in the top 3 finalist for the original Scarlet role. Thank you for posting.

  • @mvies77 I did, too.. But, it had been barely three years since 'STAGECOACH', where the Duke had risen from being just another B-movie cowboy.. True, Duke didn't get the girl, because the top star then was Ray Milland.. But, the Duke was on his way to bigger and better pictures; and, with the war on, and, a large portion of the leading men in the service, John Wayne would have a clear field..

  • This is a great classic. Thanks for posting. It's been a long while I last viewed this film.

  • Awesome! Thanks!
