The first U.S. Supreme Court opened with a four hour Prayer and Communion service?
* The Bible was a required reading textbook in the public schools?
* President Thomas Jefferson ordered that schools use the Bible when teaching students to read?
* Territories applying for Statehood were required to teach religion in their schools? (Northwest Ordinance, Section XIV, Article III, passed by the House, passed by the Senate and signed into law by President George Washington, August 7, 1789)
I know that had to be extremely frustrating to deal with. That guy represents that vast ignorance of what religion can do to a person who is unwilling to honestly look at both sides. This guy has zero understanding of evolution and the vast majority of Americans have no understanding of it. So great patience here and nice job.
@luisdez81 - Yeah well no one else stopped to debate us, and he just wouldn't go away or get tired. We try to be polite and not tell folks like him to scram, but also some of our picketers were brand new to activism. First picket, first sidewalk debate. I believe this is good experience for them. Important experience. And without cussing. Very valuable to the future activists of the world.
You're lucky not to have me as a protester Joe. I would probably "attack" our opponents like an animal. Still I'd love to one day go to Austin just to participate a bit :)
Thanks, Joe, and the rest of you guys! I wish I'd been there with you all. After I graduate, I'm going to be putting a lot more time into atheist/secular causes.
That was a debate? That was one wanna-be preacher/Kirk Cameron combo-guy a-dancin' and a-yammerin' at a captive audience of a buncha people hollering back at the same time. He sounds like the homeless guy I saw this morning, arguing with himself in the corner of my subway station. I'd have pulled my hair out at the constant interrupting of each other. Looks like you had fun anyway. Good job!
ive debated with old people like him before they are stuck in the old times way of thinking people like him dont know shit about current events or the change in science for the past few decades

So funny. Atheists always say separation if church and state. But fail to admit our Christian heritage. Consider the following and deal with it
* "Separation of Church and State" is found nowhere in the Constitution?
* The U.S. Capital Building was converted to a church every Sunday morning?
* Washington D.C.'s worship team every Sunday morning was the U.S. Marine Corps Band?
* Congressional declarations actually called for "Christianity" to be "spread all over the Earth"?
* The first U.S.

What an idiot. I've been on this planet for 15 years, and I know more about evolution than he does.

What an asinine "debate". You guys should've just ignored that guy. He obviously wasn't gonna be covinced of anything.

religious people willfully remain ignorant...that is the worst kind...
