A few comments have been posted on here about this 'sighting'. Can I just let everyone know that is was not a lantern. It wasn't a UFO either, it was a helicopter. I filmed this from my kitchen overlooking the town.
The luminous sphere seen here was simply a Chinese lantern released to commemorate the victory of two squaddies in a fight with a homeless man. yesterday about 10pm i saw this orange ball over the town centre. It came from old town direction, then slowed down over the central library. After few seconds later it started to fly again with more speed and made long right turn and dissapeared after about 30 sec. I was between central library and rudi's pub. The sky was covered with clouds so i believe that this object was not on high altitude. So it was to small for the heli flying under the clouds over the top of my head.

At first I thought it was a meteor or something as it was moving quite fast...At the back of the house it stopped for a while, then seemed to go off in a different direction and was a small dot in no time. Only reason I ended up here (internet search) is because I wondered WTF it was?

we have seen this, last night >30-05-09 and the night before at 10 - 50, then it just shot off into the distance, i was with my wife carol, daughter poppy 11 , ( who thought something horrible was going to happen, this took place above Melksham,thanks Ray
We saw a bright orange light tonight at 10pm over Stratton exactly like in this videoclip. Saw plane lights going underneath the object so not a plane, no noise from the object either then just faded into the night. The object got brighter at times too
i saw somthing like that the other week it was just like it tbh and i saw what looked like a star moving very fast threw the sky but it was just a constant white light so not a plane , theres alot going on up above swindon latley

Hi i saw 5 lights in the shape of a triangle last september. They were a orangey pink colour. The two at the bottom suddenly vanished after around 5 mins. The one to the right of the remainding three suddenly shot upwards, stopped without slowing down and then slowly moved across and lowered itself into the light at the top of the triangle! We did contact somebody about it, not sure if it was you guys! This happened at around 10pm in Sep over Malmesbury-wilts.
We saw 4 of these tonight over west swindon. When one faded away up into the sky another one appeared - this happened 4 times between 21:25 and 21:55 ish. Would love to know what they were - no noises, bright orange, no time for an aircraft to be circling!! 4 of us witnessed, plus another gentleman we saw!
im from swindon and seen something similar a few weeks back , it was a reasonably small orange sphere moving a tad slower than tht and was quite low then it just faded away but there was still a clear metalic shape visible after it faded!! then 30 secs later another 1 appeared and faded also .... just thaught ill say !
We know this is not a UFO - it is a IFO... It is not a lantern, nor is it the police helicopter that flies over all the time. I know what it is - I filmed it. It now appears this is the case of a flurry of sightings over Swindon....
It is also not a hoax, not a spaceship and has nothing to do with ETH.

Hi.
you have made the mistake.. not all orange lights are lanterns. This was a military helicopter carrying out (alledged) surveilance in swindon.

Yeah this is a helicopter. I filmed this and I film the heli's all the time. sorry, very real, but not a true UFO.. a true IFO perhaps.
