I don't really agree with you, but that's okay. It's opinion! And your list is pretty damn good. Thank god you included lots from the old series. I'm getting sick of the new series. Props for Remembrance of the Daleks. Always love a Seven/Ace story. (Ace is my favorite companion)
I used to not think Vincent and the Doctor was a good story, but when you gave your reasons you opened up my mind and now I love it...apart from the villain.
I like "Vincent and The Doctor" too, but I'm not so crazy about "Remembrance of the Daleks" I think "Ressurection of the Daleks" is far superior. I wish Colin Baker had had more good stories because he was a great Doctor.
Very nice choices for the most part :~D. With the possible exception of Mindwarp, I agree those are all classics. Genesis of the Daleks would be higher up on my list, but to each their own *grins*
Why doesn't everyone like Vincent and the Doctor SO much? I find it rather boring. I agree with his 1st placer. The Caves of Androzani is just amazing.
I love Vincent and the Doctor. It was the first episode of Doctor Who I ever saw, and it made me want to see more. It was also a really good portrayal of mental illness, which is rarely represented accurately in most T.V. shows.
They dont make them like they used to! I miss the old days I miss the old days of a story taking 4 weeks to come to an end. I would be talking about them for weeks with my friends at school.
cool list but you got one thing wrong you said what if michael bay had directed doctor who but it was Andrew Morgan who Directed Remembrance of the Daleks
Really? Vincent and the Doctor isn't popular with most people? Why? It was the first time a Doctor Who episoe made me teary eyed, specifically when they bring Vincent to the future. I loved it.
What made Vincent and the Doctor so great to me, was that is was the ONLY episode in season 5 that was truly emotional, so it stands out. I also love the plot device of Valeyard, that whole concept was brilliant.
I don't agree with some of the comments. Vincent is deserving of the top 10 spots, it was an amazing story. I even liked the moment when the alien dies and you see the characters tear up, those are the moments that I love the most in Doctor Who. I wish they had more period episodes.
As the Dalek hovers up the stairs you can see the string attached to it (im on about remembrance here at the bootom on the right not near the corner sort of above the 09:24 mark
Hmm... I agree with you pretty much about Remembrance but I'd probably put it a tad higher. Not a huge fan of Bad Wolf/Parting.. it had to much of what I hated about RTD's Who (over-emotional, sappiness, pop culture references). Vincent was good but no where near top 10 IMO. Mindwarp was probably the best of the Trial arc, but top 10? The ending was disappointing as I didn't like how they left Peri's fate ambiguous. I agree on Genesis but I'd put it higher I think...
@TheBigBlueBox Thanks for the comment and the sub mate (you're one of the reasons i got into reviews in the first place!) As for the Mindwarp ending i don't think they left it ambiguous because they completely ruined the ending in the last episode by saying she surived and got married to Brian Blessed.
That is the most heartbreaking thing I have ever heard, and I don't even like Peri. I think the Sixth Doctor just went up a few positions in my 'favourite Doctor' list.
I think your one year anniversary video will be a re review of victory of the daleks, not only because it was your first video, but because on your Christmas Carol review one of your comments says that you would like to do that.
One day I'm gonna have to watch some of the older episodes, because some actually look brill :)
I'd agree with Vincent and the Doctor though, because it's just a more emotional story than the others...I'd say the soundtracks the key element to that though. Plus theres none of those bloody cracks to detract from the story -.-
Wargames with the 2nd Doctor definitely deserves a top ten spot. Such a cool and captivating story. I loved how cliffhanger'ish in nature it was....just an all around excellent storyline.
And I agree the episode with Van Gohe was the best historical episode in the history of the stories (IMO).
Interesting choices. I do agree with some of them. The 6th Doctor getting yanked out of time was very epic. Although I think Remembrance of the Daleks was a terrible episode. As was season 1 of the new series. I didn't care for the Christopher Eccleston stories....he just didn't feel like the Doctor, he was dull and the stories were very subpar, it felt like watching something like Stargate or something. You watch it because you like sci-fi but it doesn't really move you, just feels uninspired.
I completely agree with you about vincent and the doctor its one of my top ten all time favorite episodes of doctor who. Though I just recently saw the five doctors did you like that any?
Your opinions of the episodes made me want to watch more of classic who. I'm still on season 1 of the first doctor though. So it'll be a while before I get to the 4th or 5th doctor.
THANK YOU THANK YOU for including Trial Of A Timelord, almost everyone goes on for days about Genesis Of The Daleks, granted it is a somewhat eerie classic with some great sometimes poetic dialogue, but only some out of a dozen people ever mention Trial in a good way, most people would say that since it's a Colin Baker story it's awful but to be fair (I haven't watched the last part) it is Colin Baker's best story ever, and I love Mindwarp, the dog-like thing in that story is oddly realistic.
Vincent and The Doctor is probably my favourite episode of the new series (1-5), but it is one that cannot watch again. That episode is so heart-wrenching, and the raw emotion just emanates from the screen throughout. I was happy that the "Monster of the Week" was incidental and just a bit on the pathetic side (in a good way).
Great Work, Mr. TardisReviews; looking forward to Sunday!
@MrTARDISreviews Oh now I'm intrigued to hear these thoughts on the old Tenth Doctor. Granted, I didn't like him post-Series Two and he became my least favourite Doctor, but he did have some great stories in his era, if sparse.
24 unofficial Doctors? Really? Wow. I was only ever aware of the utter fail that was Cushing... Or are we counting Doctors like the Shalka-Doctor that are part of spinoff media and don't actually appear in any actual televised media?
@AceofGallifrey Say whaaaat =O Peter Cushing wasn't an utter fail. And yeah, i did some research and i counted 24. Rowan Atkinson, Peter Cushing, Jim Broadbent, David Banks, Richard E. Grant (twice), Joanna Lumley, Hugh Grant, Mark Gatiss and loads more =P
@MrTARDISreviews Eh, I was never a fan of the Cushing films. It was too far perverted from canon (of course, at that time, the canon I'm referring to hadn't actually been established on-screen yet, so that may be forgiveable).
as much as i think genesis would take my top spot, good list so far looking forward to part 2
(i've a sneaky suspicion on what your no. 1 might be but i'm not gonna say yet so that i can say what it was after you do so it looks like i was right all along)
I have to say that I haven't seen enough Classic episodes to create a full top ten so mine would have to be NewWho episodes only, but I now know for sure that I have to seek out Mindwarp somewhere soon. It looks like epic.
In the meantime, I loved Vincent and the Doctor, it made me cry, and I look forward to seeing what your top five episodes are
I can't choose, some are better than others and some have poorer effects but the acting, writing, concepts and themes render a top 10 impossible. The series is what it is, take your seat and enjoy it, the rest is just a matter of taste
For me my top ten list is: 10 Horror of Fang Rock 9 Inferno 8 City of Death 7 Revelation of the Daleks 6 The Seeds of Doom 5 Enlightenment 4 The Time of Angels/Flesh & Stone 3 Dalek 2 Evil of the Daleks 1 Genesis of the Daleks
The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances are going to be in the top 5 for sure. Also i wouldn't say you're in the minority for liking Vincent and the Doctor, just a lot people have issues with the monster, which if people hang the entire episode on that, they've missed the entire point.
@NotSoGrimProductions That's a point about Vincent and the Doctor I completely forgot about, the monster. Whilst it was a great idea, I actually wish it had remained invisible for the entire story and not revealed (probably save some money on the budget too). Oh well.

It's nice that you included Vincent, I loved that story from beginning to end so much, it really deserves to be in a top 10!
However, there are so many Doctor Who stories that I couldn't even think of a top 50, let alone a top 10!

RotD - Love it and always will. 10/10
Mindwarp - Dislike it and it's my least favourite CB story, but the first part and the ending are great. 4/10
BW/TPotW - Beautiful stuff, one of RTD's best stories. 10/10
VatD - A great story, but Vincent in the present day ruined it a little for me. 9/10
GotD - I'm in the minority, but I dislike it. That being said, TB is wonderful and Davros is at his best, as the WWII themes work well. 5/10
Awaiting Part Two with anticipation. Great start.
