It does indeed need vertical stabilisers. When it gets down to low flying speed, it starts tumbling around, and you would never be able to recover from that at altitude without stabilisers. It is a sure crash.
just add a rudder and the turns will be more efficient because the sailplane doesn't " slides " when turning, and with a bungee you can become a lot of heigh and you could have an oportunity to catch a thermal!
Eventually, the partnership ended in acrimony when the "throwing guy" questioned why he was doing all the hard work and the other guy was having all the fun.
Incredibly efficient. Did you see at 1:55 the left wing hits the ground the the wing has so much lift that the spining action of it hitting the ground is enough for the pilot to flare the rest of the plane and make a soft landing. WOW
That's the best performance I've ever seen of something unpowered over level ground. As for winglets, maybe the lack of the same can allow it to glide tip-1st so it can have good low & high speed flight characteristics. That concept has been considered, but a more symetrical wing & flybywire tech may be necessary. Hard to say why some fw's fly well w/o winglets & others refuse to fly right w/.
3.5lb???? Thats it? Amazing construction dude. I have a 60" wing that weighs at 7 lbs. but it has 3 x 2200 and a huge motor. Looks good though...put a motor on it.
wow, this is so beautiful, you do a very good job. a little thermical wind, and he´s going up to the clouds. with a 50m rope tries to tie up it with your truck and drags it thus then highly. then you can for hours gliding with this plane. we made it, and this going already well. nice project you done, like it.
beutiful glider guys, I really would ass a vertical stab, this should stop the yaw on launch and make it a little happier going straight. I would also turn down the elevator rates as it seems to be bobbing a lot
i motor would be fun to when you have no good thermals in the area

Very good

Very nice build. It reminds me of the Klingberg.
It looks to me like the cg is a little too far aft. cheers

Needs a 1/2"X3" dowel rod in the wing tip of the right wing to make it The worlds largest DLG!

Ever hear of a bungee launcher? A 20 meter bungee will sling that thing for almost a .5k. Man, I love flying wings.

Nice work!!! By adding an engine/motor you have a long-endurance drone.

Hello Fellow builder, This plan is neat( just what I want to make out of blue Styrofoam)
Can You bed so kind as to supply me with dimension and angel of this fine vehicle?
Thanks and keep them coming.

PS did you ever put a motor on it?

yep, winglets would help it!

looks like it needs two verticles on each side of the wing to keep it from slideing to one side or the other when you turn but really cool.

All You Need Now Is a High start Or a Bungee :)

Amazingly efficient airfoil apparently, but you should put some surfaces on it. it has no yaw stability!

tip stalls ?

I'm suprised how well it flys without a vertical surface!
TheRattleSnake3145 4 months ago
You shoul really consider adding a motor at least a small one with small prop. What is that thing made off anyways.

Use a hi start for gods sakes, ya might catch a thermal !

is it really windy? it flys great withoun a motor

what air foil, its a good flyer, need a electric motor on back and a nice FPV camera setup, that would be perfect.

Push the CG forward a couple of inches and you won't loose too much finesse while the flight is going to be more stable.

I would try building a sling launcher for it... with lots of power to really get it up there...! GREAT job...!
bowser197 2 years ago
it seems to have a yaw problem, you should try winglets and see what happens, then take them off. Other than that, great job!!
