Because of him I have tried to kill myself many times and would have sex with pretty much any willing guy. I have cuts on my arms and i never let people get close because i feel that everyone will leave me.. God is the only one who will never ever leave me. Im only 16 and I have been hurt so many times and it has taken forever to forgive but i have.

Now he is a successful man, found God in his life many years ago; does prison ministry; sings for God in church; does all he can to spread the love and forgiveness of the Lord. We have 4 beautiful children, a home and great faith in God above. This song is his story --- he could have written it about him and his Dad who died 25 years ago. Thank you for writing it Brandon.

There is a lot of pain in me due to illness and bereavement and other matters. The pain is not a bitter friend but evil and is to be avoided. I had to stop listening to this song for awhile because I wore it out while I thought about my own issues of unforgiveness... I'm so glad that you wrote this. We all need to become honest with what we find residing in our hearts. Going to church doesn't erase our past, God does that for us through Christ. I believe your submission to God is evident in your writing and by sharing it with us you are helping us to work out our own salvation, with "fear and trembling" Thanks

i wish i was a more forgiving person. i had a best friend that was more like a brother but when he had an affair on his wife and kids(who i also loved) and then left her. we ended up falling out. After 6 yrs he showed up at my front door. That was as far as he got. within about 2-3 sentences, I sent him packing. In a lot of ways I regrete not even letting him say why he was here. Maybe he was coming to say he was sorry and that he is "Not who He Was." I may never know.

After 6 yrs he showed up at my front door. That was as far as he got. within about 2-3 sentences, I sent him packing. In a lot of ways I regrete not even letting him say why he was here. Maybe he was coming to say he was sorry and that he is "Not who He Was." I may never know.

I'm not drunk, high, cutting, having sex,stealing, lying or smashing things anymore...BUT I am still dealing with the underlying issues that caused the self-hatred and self-destruction. Takes some time for a lot of people. But, I am very, very grateful to be free of booze, pot, cigarettes, shallow sexual sins and the rest. God is working His patience into my soul.

This song does really speak to alot of people even me. I'm only 16, but in the past 5 years God has been shaping me, and honestly. I don't even recognize that girl. The very first time I heard this song on the radio I got online to find out who sang it, as it seemed that it was sung exclusively for me. My son & I have been estranged for 10 yrs now because he married his guardian, whom I trusted as a friend, but had a different agenda, and because of her guilt, I lost my son.
