@ranka35 well actually they are guys. Like Usagi and the scouts, they were reborn on Earth but they were reborn as men but they still possess their scout powers so that is why they change into women. Trust me they are men. Im not sure of the episode number but Seiya stays with Usagi and comes out of the shower and you can clearly see he is a boy as well as Yaten and Taiki. Hope this helped.

@MoonFaceBunny they were never reborn on earth ... not in the anime nor in the manga ... they were from another planet all together. the animators screwed up. seiya, yaten and taiki were only pretending to be boys [as in dressing up as them] in the manga to sing for their princess while searching for them. in the anime to steer clear of another michiruxharuka thing ... they made the starlights male in civilian form and female in senshi form. oh and fun seiya > boring mamoru. just saying.

Actually they where not suppose to be guys at all. When they where to be females through out the series for the animators made them guys. I found the post some where on the net when they did that.

@Bluestarwarrior1 Sailor Stars was never aired in the US as the japanese producer refused to sell the rights to the season. Up until this point, American producers had been very objectional to exactly what was dubbed, added, or even deleted from the show to make it "more appropriate" for young american viewers. Seiya, Yaten, and Taiki were dubbed "inappropriate for young viewers due to the nature of the characters conditions." Japanese producers would not allow the characters to changed.

This all happens in the last season of sailor moon, this season never aired in English. So they turn into girls because all sailor warriors are supposed to be girls.
