  • You don't have to be retarded to miss spell things if you read all the comments you'd realize that he said sorry for his miss spelling he had a long day....... Kinda makes you a retard

  • The slow version of Transmission is probably the one they recorded for an aborted RCA album in 78, I think, possibly with Martin Rushent. Whoever produced it, it shows Martin Hannett's genius off by comparison.

  • does anyone know what the name of that slow "Transmission" remix that begins to play at 1:35 and ends at 2:06?

  • ppl follow these role models thats y we r fucked

  • @ali1278 no.. we're fucked because of people like you... more people should follow "these role models".. .and im sure you think i mean kill themselves, which i don't, though if you want to take the advice im sure Darwin wouldnt complain ;) RIP Ian Curtis

  • @fiskisgod oh just fucking shut up u asshole

  • @ali1278 how very articulate... please, no throwing poop at me LMAO

  • @fiskisgod wow u seem like a nice guy, u wanna be my friend ?

  • @ali1278 Yes.. let's be friends... yeah... friends... yeah lol. Btw, I'm not really this dickish, i just took exception to the initial comment, and arguing on the internet is just plain old fun, so there ya go ;)

  • @fiskisgod internet arguing is bloody fun ! i agree yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy we r friends :DDD

  • IAN IS THE BEST ...SALVE FROM ROMANIA

  • I cried just watching this trailer, really depressing film.

  • you can't be in my gang if you don't smoke

  • joy division,pioneers of new wave music..forever!!

  • love will tear us apar...one of the best songs ever written.

  • the last song is atmosphere !

  • best song ever!

  • Does anyone know what the title of the last song on this trailer? Been going through all my Joy Division stuff, but I don't think I have it. Thanks!

  • Atmosphere :)

  • Song's called Atmosphere. I think Ian said he believed it was their best song too.

  • Atmosphere, beautiful and melancolical song

  • Atmosphere

  • Atmosphere

  • dude's on a mission....well said kid

  • yeah this is my favorite movie

  • Definitely one of the greatest movies Ive ever seen..

Full of grandiose humour, dialogues, portrayals of characters and afterthoughts

    Indeed, not to mention music

  • Even though I knew whole Ian Curtiss story, It knocked me down and made me fall apart completely; but am not sure whether it is the matter of the film itself or maybe its all due to the incredible effect of the place where weve watched it? well, It was like... 21 people inside that artistic chamber cinema, and the fact that one might hear another breathing..

  • though am not certain that if I watched it either on my computer or on my own it would bring about the same effects

    Anyways

    Its exquisite.

  • all my apostrophes have gone.. :p

  • Why did Sam Riely talk so camp in this film? Ian Curtis didnt talk like julien fuckin Clarey surley. Also he had a yorkshire accent, I think he is from Leeds, He could've at least put on the manc accent. I think Sean Harris did better as Ian in 24 hour part people. Also Sam Reily did the singin himself which sounded nothin like Ians voice. Mabey if he'd mimmed to Ians voice it would've sounded convinicing. Samantha Morton was good, she was a lot prettier than the real Debbie.

  • People need to stop thinking what he did was tragic, it was rather courageous in fact

  • I agree!

  • You can hardly call suicide victims "cowards". There has to be something seriously wrong with someone to consider ending their life in the first place; belittling their pain by labelling them as coawards is just adding to the stigma surrounding mental illness when really we should be trying to make people more aware of the problem so potential suicides can be stopped.

  • *cowards

  • d'you know how many lawsuits there are over epilepsy medication (+ antidepressants etc)?? its because people who previously showed no signs of suicidality suddenly BECAME suicidal because of the medication they're on + some took their own lives. thats the case with ian curtis, he may've been depressed before but he always had control over it, whereas he felt helpless when on his meds cause they were altering his brain chemistry. you can hardly call him a coward for something out of his control!

  • As someone who's lost family members to suicide & who is on multiple medications for several mental illnesses, I think I have the right to voice my opinion without being patronised, thank you.

Labelling suicide victims as cowards is the akin to blaming somebody for havingcancer- it's OUT OF THEIR CONTROL, it is part of an illness & you can't blame someone for having it. Slapping the "selfish coward" label on them is a great way to detract from actually solving the problem...

  • ...when actually the general public should become more aware of the issue of suicide just in case they come face-to-face with it. It was pretty clear that Ian was unhappy, if someone had confronted him about his depression then he could have gotten the help he needed (& don't play the "he should've helped himself" card, any psychiatrist will testify that a lot of mentally ill people CANNOT help themselves for one reason or another).

  • Please see dereksmiff for my reply.

  • so just cuz im young + i like emo music means im not allowed to have a valid opinion? i guess im not allowed to like any other bands from the 70s either?

and fyi both my biological parents comitted suicide (funny how i dont think theyre cowards at all cuz i knew they were ILL!), im on antidepressants myself + im studying psychology so dont tell me im "naive" when i probably have more experiance with the subject than you do! some one being young doesnt make their opinion worthless.

  • btw sorry for spelling mistakes just got in from a long day

  • im 20 this year, im not a child. dont know how old obituarybirthday is but i doubt they'd know half the words and things they said if they were a child. besides ive seen some young people who are far wiser than some 50 year olds (you're the opposite) so stop being so judgemental, you're actually acting more immaturely than either of us are.

ironic how you call ian a coward when your deriding us + calling us "children" so you dont have to continue the discussion, seems pretty cowardly to me.

  • and the only reason i mentioned my parents was so you didnt assume i was just someone spouting off about a subject i have no idea about. its hardly "peddling to the public" when nobody else is probably even reading this conversation. i bet you have a lot of fun in life ignoring half the population's opinions just cause they're younger than you- THAT is what i'd call childish, not my opinion on death.

  • Wouldn't bother replying if I were you, derek; we shouldn't delay her from getting back to her elitist way of life... Maybe she should put a little note on her profile proclaiming that she can't talk to anybody aged 20 or under without resorting to bitchiness, it would avoid some of us ever needing to converse with her in the first place. ;)

  • or a bumper sticker

  • @dereksmiff right on!

  • @dereksmiff You don't know how to write your words properly. You're obviously a retard.

  • cest quoi la chanson qu'il ecoute dans sa chambre ?

  • Jean Genie, par David Bowie.

  • i already see it and its to long to slow but its a good representation of the life of ian

    depress emo and complicated

  • Who is the singer at 3:26 ?

  • it's suppose to be the singer from crispy ambulance

  • comment me back

    this video was good cq

  • i havent seen the movie yet but i luv this band

  • what song plays at 3:09?

  • Atmosphere

  • Alguien sabe si subieron esa escena a la salida del show de los Sex pistols, cuando Ian pregunta si buscaban un cantante? Esa escena es buenísima!

  • The film is really good but this trailer is crap!

  • I was watching the movie Rocknrolla and I was trying to figure who the drug addict was played by. A couple days later I realized it was played by Toby Kebbell, who was awesome in this movie as the manager Joy Division.

He practically stole the whole scenes in the movie. T.K. is an A+ actor.

  • a few of us are meant to become legends- Ian Curtis is one of them! Present tense, cause he lives through his music, through us!... Rest in peace!

  • lose some weight fat bitch

  • Epic win.

  • fsd

  • I really love this movie <3

  • What is the song that starts around 1:36

  • what is the song starting from 1:36 till 2:06?

  • I love the movie but

    the best friends and i

    absoulutley HATE annik

    <3

  • why

    it takes 2 to tango!

imagine living in salford in late 1970sss and a sweet european girl walks into your life..and also a editor/journo of a small newspaper meets a legend to be.... a sexual encounter is going to happen!!

im glad you loved the film (movie- are you american!)

    take care samantha

  • What's the song starting from 0:12 to 0:57? If anyone knows, please tell me. Thanks.

  • The song that starts from 0:12 to 0:57 is Jean Genie by David Bowie, the vinyl cover of Aladdin Sane is held up in the background.

  • Thanks for answering. This song is nice. Really appreciated. Cheers.

  • what is the song starting from 1:36 till 2:06?

  • 0:50

    i never saw that part

    is it in the movie???

  • Probably cut, I can't remember seeing it either

  • it was in the film.

  • yep

    it was cut out

might of been for debbie's sake

    mad fan etc

    we will never know...

ps i have a lot of time for debbie...i would love to meet her...

the film was a complete masterpeice

  • I don't get 0:51

they don't even show that scene in the fil :P

  • i cant believe he died at 23, im just a bit younger than that and i never knew jd were a bunch of youngens. its crazy what they accomplished in such a short span of time.

  • I can't wait to see this film!

  • WTF are u talking about?

  • ur not drunk youre mentally ill.

  • Someone has just nicked Ian Curtis' headstone - bastards!

  • pas besoin de voir le film j'ai vu la bande-annonce, coool

  • You start your own little band, Before you realize it your band is a succes and so is your music. The frontman has emotional problems or drugs related problems that affects the rest of the band. Eventually you can't handle your fame and succes anymore because its all getting to much and then you take your own life

  • any one help me out and tell me the Wordsworth poem he quotes in that scene where he's looking out thw window and then he and debbie are holding hands behind yer mans back

  • William Wordsworth - My Heart Leaps Up

My heart leaps up when I behold

    A rainbow in the sky.

    So was it when my life began;

    So is it now I am a man;

So be it when I grow old,

    Or let me die!

    The Child is father of the Man;

And I could wish my days to be

Bound each to each by natural piety.

  • I love the movie. The actors are really good and they look like them. But the book is better. I cried a lot.

  • by the book do you mean touching from a distance? if it is a different book can you please tell me the name of it. thanks

  • No I mean touching from a distance:)

  • how the hell did u get it on dvd i thot it gets realeased june 8 2008?

  • it was released earlier this year. i bought it in february when i was on tour with one of the bnads.

  • i have already watched the movie about 5 times plus got it on dvd - definitely last year's best movie sam is fabulous at playing Ian even though noone could ever replace him... ian was and still is an idol

  • Wow. The actor looks so much like Ian, and does his movements very well too...

  • Not much like Macclesfield accents. I went to same school as Curtis three or 4 years after him. Those are more Manchester accents

  • great film and well cut..

im going to macc soon...any tips on were to go?

to be honest ima southerner and wouldnt know the difference in accents sorry to say..

    im buying the dvd 2moro..

  • You're heading for the bright lights of Maclesfield? As Wikipedia says "Macclesfield has few cultural amenities; in 2004, research was published in The Times naming Macclesfield and its borough the most uncultured town in Britain, based on its lack of theatres, cinemas and other cultural facilities." Times was right. It is pretty round centre where they have cobbled over and pedestrianised the streets opposite the Town Hall. View coming down from Buxton is beautiful.

  • ive been to buxton before...(high edge)

    brill for walks..then pub..

i was looking on multi map and i will spend 2 full days there...

i looked at a BnB near 77 barton road..

im not one for going back in life but Ian was a one of a kind....

i hope i dont bump into the macclads lol

  • Ian Curtis of this film is better than 24 hour party people.

    Muy buena pelicula!!

  • Great film!

BTW: did anybody notice how much Ian talks about "having control" in his lyrics?

  • Great film!

BTW: did anybody noticed how much Ian talks about "having control" in his lyrics?

  • Aah.. The Beatles, Nick Drake, Led Zep, Joy Division, Radiohead...

I'd be proud to be British if I believed in nationalism..

  • This film is fantastic. They stock to the book, but missed a few things out. WOuld of been brill if it was longer. Great film. (Y)

  • views 333.330!!!

  • Joy Division are Brilliant!!

  • last scenes are very touchy

  • i really enjoyed the movie coz the black and white climate was ... amazingly murky... however there were at moments some tawdry lines.. i really liked the Ian's wife character she should be more exposed, the guy seemed to me like just another dull feckless, adrift misfit who couldn't even make a sandwich on his own and was totally dependable on his wife he didn't respect. and i also didn't sympathize with the journalist lady coz she knew what she was goin into, just liked to put out..

  • Do you know anything about Joy Division and Ian Curtis or just seen the film as... you know... just like that, like a fiilm, like any film without knowing Joy Division and the hole story?

Its a questiopn, not an agression ok?

  • it is an opionion based entirely on the movie. i didn't know anything about the guy and his life before. the move just created such a picture in my head, it was just shown this way i guess. don't u think the piece just puts him there?

  • I haven`t seen the movie yet, Im dying to watch it I`m a big fan of Joy Division since I was 13 years old (Im 32 today), I have read a couple of books about them, even the book written by Deborah Curtis about all this, and this movie was based on that book, so of coarse it might be pictured from Deborah Curtis point of view I guess. That was Ian, that was the way he was.

  • ok, hands down then, i didn't read any of those stories. anyway i'm afraid my point of view would stay similar even if i did some reaserch. i think u're a guy and i'm a woman that's why. and only a woman can understand what it feels like to be be sitting at home all alone day after day deep in the shitty diapers while ur husband is touring away with this OMG-i-can't-handle-that-world attitude. sorry, but i can have my own opinion about him, and doesn't matter if he was or wasn't that talented..

  • Its worth watching. The acting from Sam Riley is immense down to every detail. Even his singing is brilliant. This has to be in the top 3 best films ive ever seen

  • Joy Division are fuckin amazing

  • oh yeah

  • will it go to mexico?

    vendra a mexico?

  • ...eso espero!!!

  • Si... ya hay posters en algunos complejos.

  • 687..

  • oh fuck off

  • I hope its as good as 24 hour party people cause i absolutley love that movie

  • Ian Curtis of this film is better

  • truly brilliant film

  • good movie?

  • im 36 minutes into it im loving it

  • not just good. Simply amazing!

  • I thought the film looked good but lacked any real depth or insight

  • this is a great way to learn french!

  • alguien sabe cuándo se va a estrenar en España?

  • he looks like pete doherty

  • Joy Divsion are top

  • The film Control will be playing at UICA in downtown Grand Rapids MI starting February 8, 2008.

  • yo la quiero verrrrrrrrrr

  • This is the greatest movie eber and it isn`t in one cinema near here. So I will download it, fucking cinema.

  • must see thi one and to read the book from his wife

  • where can i get this movie?

  • BAD trailer to a GREAT movie.

  • I saw this yesterday and it is superb. I was a bit too young to know Joy Division at the time but was quite into New Order (Joy Division minus Curtis) in the 1980s. He was an extremely tortured soul but I think it was his epilepsy which pushed him over the edge. Otherwise he would have likely been similar to Morrisey - a tortured bedroom poet but who managed to hang in there. Curtis ended it all aged 23. Great film, still showing at the small Odeon in Panton Street next to Leicester Square.

  • CONTINUED: The story of the lad growing up in a grey dull English town is one that has happened so many times throughout music (from Brian Jones to Brett Anderson and many more). Those people are usually the ones who write the best songs. Incidentally, the woman who plays Annik in the film, Curtis's bit on the side, is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen im my life.

  • Great movie!!! absolutely fantastic.

  • wat time period is this set in ?

  • Google is your friend.

  • You're an idiot, y'know that?

  • and I'm in love with you, tough I have no idea who you are.

  • I love this movie.

    i love joy division.

  • Una de las mejores películas del 2007 , sin duda, grande!!!, triste, sombría, demoledora!!!!!

  • joder a ver cuando se estrena aquí en Barcelona

  • If you liked this please have a look at my "Apart Love Will Tear Us" video by Yoda and Hello Kitty. It's very funny

  • What's so special about this movie? Left it after about one hour. Should this be ART? If you are interested in Joy Division - there is plenty of better footage! The so called "independent industry" is now what the majors used to be - boring...

  • Guess you prefer some plastic fast food ready to eat crap like Alien vs Predator. You couldn't recongnize a piece of art even if it would bite you in the ass.

  • hay fecha de estreno en mexico?
