  • I hear Spongebob Music

  • I use to have this on vhs the 3rd story made cookie monster sound like a theif

  • Just found out the first tune is "Flute Reggae" by Clive Hicks.

  • don't you mean Mrs. Washington?

  • @cookielover993 Well, to me she's still really Susan. They changed her name due to Loretta Long not being available to voice Susan

  • Dude, you rule! I used to watch this video a lot.

  • 5:41 - that sound effect is also heard on "A Boy Named Charlie Brown" each time a student spells a word incorrectly during the spelling bee.

  • @BKDBrian2 That's right; I also recall hearing it on occasion on "Inspector Gadget" (during the first season)

  • I just found out that there is a French version of the book entitled "Tout le Monde a le Droit d'Être Maladroit."

  • Rodeo Rosie sounds like a valley girl in her new voice, and Mrs. Washington looks exactly like Susan for some reason.

  • @xN3wZ That's cause Mrs. Washington IS Susan. They changed her name because they couldn't get Loretta Long to do her voice.

  • MEMORIES!!! :D

  • i remember this!!!!!!!!!XD

  • 1 person knocked down Susan's laundry!

  • What the heck at 5:27 i used to be scared to death by that green muppet! and 15 years later i found this video and i was shocked i said "I WAS AFRAID OF THAT!!!!"

  • @kddjxjk That is a bit unusual, these Golden Book Videos can be unnerving a bit at times. But at least it's not as bad as the "Mysterious Theater" opening or something

  • Big Bird can't tell geese from rare whooping cranes? You'd think he'd be able to do that...

  • omg.. ;n; this makes me so sad.....

  • Who does the voice of Little Bird in this?

  • @heartofmusic27 Fran Brill. She also voiced Little Bird on the show itself back in the '70s

  • @heartofmusic27 Fran Brill.

  • A Circus Practicing in Mrs. Washington's Backyard, That's a Terrible Idea, LOL, The Ringmaster talks like a News anchor.

  • My god, this brings back memories! I used to watch this quite a bit when I was little. I recently read the original book & was surprised to not find Little Bird in there. Also, when I heard the music from the giraffe scene on Spongebob, I immediately thought of this video. What WAS that music? Is it the same stock music that was used for other stuff, like Ren & Stimpy?

  • @maniacaldude Yes, the Golden Book Videos used the APM music library quite a bit, the same music library Spongebob and Ren & Stimpy uses.

  • You are awesome not ONLY for uploading this great learning experience of my childhood, but also for including the music themes!!! Tomfoolery is a very popular theme in Nickelodeon shoes like Spongebob. XD

  • Hey, the music cue that is playing while Alphabet Bates is landing is the same one that was used on the ren and stimpy show.

  • @NDW85 That's right. These Golden Book Videos used a LOT of APM music cues, including several familiar ones you'd recognize from "Spongebob" or "Ren & Stimpy."

  • @wileyk209zback I also remember hearing that music cue on that episode of Rocko's modern Life where Rocko and Heffer go on a trip to Paris.

  • Oh my gosh! I remember this! I used to watch this all the time. Ahh good times.

  • The words Big Bird said in his dreams:

"Shoo!" - a flock of geese

"Watch out you guys!" - Biff and Sully

"Watch out for the laundry!" - fire engine

"Hang on to your feathers, Little Bird!" - tornado

  • @hornean "blew and blew and blew" in oscar's voice

  • @slapshot68 The transcribed audio reads "terrible means just doing" instead (followed by "dot").

  • 1:26 - WHACK!

  • 6:21 - 6:40 - Kind of disastrous to have a tornado on Sesame Street, don't you think?

As you know, there's a five-episode saga when Sesame Street had a similar disaster, except there's no tornado. Instead, there was a hurricane. Big Bird's home had the most damage.

  • Hey, that IS Spongebob music! The music at 1:53-2:04 sounds really familiar. Do you know if it was used in some other kid's show, wileyk?

  • Thanks for posting this! Say, Can you make your legendary poop called "Another Golden Book Sesame Street Poop?"

  • @TomTornados If you mean "Big Bird Strikes Back," I already did

  • @wileyk209zback

is that a replacement of "Another Golden Book Sesame Street Poop"?

  • @wileyk209zback

    I meant Everyone makes "Pingas"

  • 1:29

  • I used to watch these as a kid. In fact, I still have the VHS videos but I am afraid to watch them since they are over 20 years old so I worry about ruining them.

So thank you very much for posting this on Youtube! :D

  • at 6:31 wen he said "blew and blew" he was saying it in oscar's voice

  • I dunno why, but the caption reads "terrible names polling" at that part.

  • Thank you for uploading these videos! I had this video as a child and it was awesome!!!! I also had a care bears one as well and it was just as awesome!!!

  • Maybe I'm too young but who the hell was Alphabet bates?

  • @ThisMightBeAndy09 He was a skywriter on the show in the 1970s and early 1980s; we never saw him in person on the show but we'd see him skywrite letters and numbers in the air on his plane.

  • I still have this tape to this day..and it still PLAYS too!! :)

  • DUDE!!! SERIOUSLY!!! A FLOOD OF MEMORIES JUST CAME RUSHING BACK!!! Thanks so much for uploading this!!!

  • I remember when I used to watch this video when I was young. Even today when my mom makes a sharp turn in the car she'll say "Hang on to your feathers, Little Bird!"

  • In the "poop" version, using the opening of "Treasure of the Endzones," the sixth Ovide episode (a woman on TV is carried away by a strong wind), with the tornado scene in this Sesame Street story, would have made sense to me. That episode can be found in Dutch here on YouTube, and I think it's called "De Schat Van De Aspeken" in that language.

  • @cjmet My mom too!!!

  • @luv4permboy Sometimes I use that expression when the situation is appropriate ;)

  • man i remember this!!

  • I Enjoyed Reading "Everyone Makes Mistakes" as a Child, and This Was a Pretty Good Video Adaptation.

Also, If You Notice in The Runaway Giraffe Scene, You'll Hear Music Which Today is Commonly Heard in Episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants.

  • That's right. It's called "Tomfoolery." These videos used a LOT of music from the KPM/Associated Production Music library.

  • OMG it is the same music!

  • If I were to do a YouTube Poop version of this story, I'd use at 4:18-4:36 the section in episode 33 of Ovide where Bobo gets trapped in a huge forest fire because Cy had been careless with the matches while trying to cook with no one else around. Also at 4:00-4:05, I'd have Kaneda from Akira say, "This whole thing happened just because you took my bike for a spin! Enough already!"

  • Maybe I'll do that.

  • Rats, I can't find those episodes online!

  • I have them myself, on "Ovide and the Gang Volume 4: Tooned Into Trouble," but I do not have the equipment required to put them on YouTube (I wish I did though!) Ryoku75 once posted one, but it has been removed.
