Modern Day Pop at its ultimate peak. Normally I hate pop and I'm a hardcore rock listener, but this album has grown on me, and I realize the genius of Chris's style in this. Yeah obviously you can associate this with other pop starts, but this goes way beyond that. Great vocals, lyrics, and overall feel. People will look at this album in a better light in the future. Looking forward to Chris's next project. Interested to see what style he takes on next.
Hehe Yeah SoundMaiden Chris is actualy trying to get Soundgarden back together so there goes you theory down the drain(Chris next big style), ques he realise how musch this.. eh well sucks realy.
if you dont like it, simply state that you think he's taken a wrong turn or whatever your reason may be for not liking it. dont call it sht or anything like that.
What a pile of steaming shit... it's not only bad for what he's doing now, it's bringing down the reputation of everything soundgarden did in the past as well... I can't quite look at it the same now I know this quivering, tasteless and B-grade R & B abortion was lurking just beneath the surface of Chris Cornell's once revered rock n roll status. Seriiously, get a fuckin grip, like we need any more of this overproduced mainstream shit in the world. Haven't you made enough money? Give up...
most of you being negative probably listen to the songs on the new cd maybe once , if u even listened to the entire song.. and if you want to hear a rock version.. go to his concerts when he is in your area...i love the old and new stuff, a 3 hour concert mixed with all of it was amazing
I loved Audioslave and I love this album too. I think it's cool that he tried something different from his normal genre...many artists are afraid to experiment. You have to admit it's nowhere near as bad as the Garth Brooks/Chris Gaines debacle, lol. This song, Never Far Away and 2 drink minimum are my faves on this cd.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i love chris cornell, grew up with soundgarden, first solo album was great, and audioslave were great...theres some good catchy tunes on scream....but listen to this track and picture britney spears singin it. lol
Yeah, then it would be a number one hit and sell a million copies. This is probably the purest "pop" song on the album, and its very good, one of my favorites, my first favorite actually.
Definitely one of the best songs off this incredible album. The album defies catagory, sometimes its rock with pop sounds, sometimes its pop with a much more substance (like this song), basically just GREAT MUSIC!
If one of those poptarts celebrated by the kids (for non-musical resons) were to release this song it would be a top hit! Even though none of them could match Cornell's vocals.
Finally a comment with substance worth making a comment of my own to and along with.
People that are angry about what Chris is doing with experimentation and not openaing their minds to the abilities of Mr. Cornell are closed to his complete talents. In my mind I have already arranged the music in a past form that Mr. Cornell has used. Imagine this with guitars, drums and Chris screaming his vocals to you. You would be BLASTED off the planet. Imagine People!
I can respect musicians that create music for themselves and not to please everyone else, a true artist evolves by experiencing new creative forms and is not held back by any sort of boundaries, specially something as shallow as "the status quo" I hate it when fans think they own the band.
I would love to hear this music with a rock band. but if I want to listen to pop music I know where to find that kind of shallow music.
what are you talking about, this is clearly a POP album... listen to the music. his singing is awesome as always but man you can dance to this music. i can see pop stars covering these songs. this album is great for pop fans, but not the rocker types, for fuck sakes he could have at least been singing about something with some SUBSTANCE, "my baby gurl left me, and she's screaming at me BLAH BLAH BLAH"
Songs like TIME and some others could have very easily been made into rock songs. Thats what I'm talking about. Btw, most songs are about relationships weather they are pop, country, jazz, death metal, ect.
oh yeah all these songs could be turned in to rock... then I would LOVE them, because they are good to begin with, it's just that hip hop sound that turns me off :P the songs are catchy and have a good up beat to let that energy out. Songs about relationships and stuff are so over done and cliche, I rather listen to someone sing about real issues rather than singing about how the girl is a slut or something like that LOL btw it is VERY rare in metal, so what you talking about dude :P
Relationships are usually the most emotion provoking part of most adult's lives. It is a very "real issue" for the vast majority of people. Songs about that and government/ religion/ society are all so over done, but still the subect matter most can relate to. there are some good quality live versions recently put up on youtube, def check out "never far away" I appreciate hip-hop, pop and all kinds, so I can acppreciate the excellent job Timbaland did on this album.
I've listened to a few of the songs on this album and this is the only one that I kinda like. I'm sure pop fans will dig it, and it's good that they'll be introduced to his awesome voice BUT this is not rock music and you can be sure that fans of soundgarden and audioslave will NOT be listening to this stuff.
what's next? collaborations with briteny "no talent" spears and touring with justin timberlake or what ever his name is? to each his own I guess
5 - 6 of the tracks on the album are amazing. 4 - 5 are masterpieces !
..........i tell u 1 thing, many may have critisized the new album, but 4 or 5 of those songs will rise to the top 10 chart all over the world ........do u wanna bet ?!
I see this album hurting his career. audioslave was under appreciated I think because fans wanted to hear rage against the machine and a lot of fans from soundgarden had already lost interest with Chirs Cornell... I'm loosing interest in him with this record.
I see this album doing wonders for his career. Appreciation will grow over time for this album, because it deserves it. Its a good album of a different type and kicks open new doors for him. Another Carry On would have not been good for him.
Some people won't like this album, and I understand. Several years ago, I only liked hard rock. Now I like all kinds of music. Scream sounds like a great album to me, its just not "hard rock". May be CC will do hard rock again, and you'll like it!
wonders for his career?? all i see is hip hop fans being introduced to a rock n' roll legend, but I don't think most of them will truly appreciate him.
this album broke a billboard 200 chart record for having the largest second-week drop for a top 10-debuting album in two and a half years. It was also a commercial disappointment, spending only 10 weeks on the Billboard 200.
So tell me again how this album will do wonders to his career?
I agree another Carry On or Morning Glory wouldn't have been good for his career, but that's not to say he couldn't have done a kick ass rock album. Very few of his original fans will NOT buy this album. Personaly I think the album is very well produced but it's not my style of music, hip hop is not my thing, having said that, it doesn't mean that I can't appreciate it or like certain songs. my taste in music varies greatly. I give this album 8/10 (MAYBE) but I would never buy it.
so I wouldn't buy this album simply because it's not what Chris Cornell has done in the past (that would be a lame reason) but because it just doesn't do it for me. Hip hop is not my thing, but if it's good I will listen to it, yet I probably won't buy it or listen to it in my spare time.
you will regret it...this album grows on u like no other....and that includes SG albums.....this album is so addictive......great great songs throughout..
ich hab mich voll gewundert dass das album hier noch nich ist und da ich es auch hier hören wollte und dachte es gibt bestimmt noch mehr die chris hören, hab ich es mal hochgestellt:D

Agreed. The first time I heard this album, I instantly thought "Eww, Pop. How could you Chris?!" and gave up on listening to it.
But later when I actually sat down and listened to the songs, I realized just how great it was. It certainly has grown on me.
