  • Great song and memories !!

    ThanX rickyon !!

  • You're welcome!!

  • Mr Walsh, though a very fine and emotionally expressive singer with great range, was never much of a tunesmith. However, the sincerity and emotion in this song is as genuine as anything. And, while this is not Fire and Rain, it is nicely done and perhaps the most meaningful song he ever wrote. Good job Steve!

  • thank you rick

  • You're welcome.

  • I love this song and all things Kansas! But the cover of SCHEMER DREAMER is just soooooo ridiculous! ;0

  • Thanks for the old pictures. Little comment, relevant of nothing, but when I saw the pic at 2:10 it looked like it could have been Jon Anderson of Yes

  • You're welcome and I'm too close to the subject to see that. I've seen Jon Anderson a few times in concert and Kansas 6 times. They are both short, have dark hair and are 2 of the best rock singers ever!

  • @rickyon I saw Kansas twice back in their heyday. The first time especially Walsh was like a little whirlwind on stage. Don't think I've ever seen anyone on stage exhibit so much energy.

  • steve's one the greatest fore shure

  • I saw lennon mcartney, i saw hendrix, genesis, i dont know what is wrong to me because then i found kansas...

  • !Wonderful!

  • Steve is about 5 foot 6 inches. Yep.

  • After the lyrics about his grandmother, the musical break is really just breathtaking. I "see" the wind and the warm sun across the fields...this is such a warm, sweet song. Lovely.

  • Thanks for posting.Great song.

  • You're welcome.

  • walsh had it in him to write good songs, and he did. he was just overshadowed by kerry livgrens religious overtone songs.

walsh and livgren co-wrote many excellent songs on the first 7 records, however walsh seems not to get much credit for them except from his true fans.

  • Wow, what a line, "...we danced just to celebrate our freedom." Great song!

  • I keep coming back to this video. I can't look away (LOL) Where on earth did you find these pics? Some of them I've never seen. And this song is new to me. I'm a HUGE Kansas fan, but not real familiar with Schemer Dreamer, so this is like Christmas morning to me. At 2:40, is that Steve's first wife, Marie? I've never seen her before. So cool...OH! And would you happen to know how tall Steve is? I've always been curious. One of the mysteries of the universe, I'm sure. Thanks so much...

  • I get that a lot about the pictures. I get them from a lot of different places. If you want to know about specific ones I can address them one at a time. Generally speaking I get them from Google image searches, tour programs, fan magazines, articles, booklets that come with box sets and from cd and album covers and included pamphlets. The pic at 2:40 I believe is his 1st wife. It came from the POKR tour program which the band dedicated to their wives at the time. Steve is short I think!

  • @MnMSlayer5 Steve is 5 foot 6, tho he claims hes taller. I stood next to him in flatsand Im 5 ' 7" and he was shorter than me.

  • I cannot thank you enough for this!!!! YOU have made my day. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh *sigh* truly, thank you.

  • You're Welcome!

  • Pic at 1:34..please gouge my eyes out..let me remember Steve in his yellow shorts, not looking like Dylan,..OMG

  • Debbie it's a grainy, blown up black and white shot. I only used it because he was playing his vibraphone there. I don't think he ever looked like Dylan. But I know what you mean. Yuck!

  • Ricky On, You will Always Remember !

Thanks Bro. 1 of a Kind Song.

  • You're welcome J Kanzius! What do you do over there at POTSW? Are you a moderator? Do you run the site?

  • Wonderful song by Mister Walsh. Wish he was still writing a ton of New Songs for Kansas. He definitely has The Gift.

  • Great job, Rick! The pics going along with that awesome ballad make it even more touching :-)

    Michael.

  • Thank You Michael. What's next from you?

  • Well, I need to put the pics from my old pc on the new one but my next videos are going to include The Pinnacle, Hope Once Again and some some live performances from Kansas' new DVD :-)

    Michael.

  • rickyon- any ideas where I can find the Canada Jams Aug.'78 video?

Thanks for this - the pics are different..some not so flattering, which is funny considering how ego driven Steve is.

  • Your welcome Debbie. The Canada jam video is an enigma! We go years with just two people posting Carry On from that show. Then all of a sudden at least 6 people turn up with varying tapes and none of them seem to be able to get them up on You-Tube! One guy posted "Dust"& COWS. Another posted SFA but the vid & sound are out of synch. I can't wait for SFA & POKR to be posted because those are on at least 2 tapes that I know of. I don't know where it can be had because I would have it if I did!

  • good post Dude.

  • Thanks Stephen! What are you working on now?

  • rick.. you are the man... ty for posting this... promise i'll get my kansas collection on soon... steve didn't do enough ballads.... n as always... great pics...

  • You're welcome Chris. Let me know if you have any questions!

  • FAB!! This is the song that I have been looking for! Thank you soo much rickyou! You always have the best of KANSAS!

  • Your welcome Amy.

  • You've done it again Rick - great song, wonderful pictures, thanks for sharing!

  • You're welcome Roz. Some of these pictures are from that tour program I told you about.

  • White Clover turned into something big! Man, Steve has put in his time. Nice song!

  • Is Steve on piano too? Great song!

  • I believe so but it's hard to say for sure bercause the credits are non-existent on the cassette tape. The credits I found online list a lot of people on the album but don't list what songs they play on. Kerry, Rich and Phil from Kansas play on it as well as a couple dozen others!

  • Yeah, Steve plays piano on this song (and all the keyboards on this album).

Allen Sloan of the Dixie Dregs plays viola on this track, and someone named Turner Gaugh (never heard of him before) plays bass on it.

I can list the Kansas-member song credits for this album if anyone wants 'em.

    Nice post, Carlo.

  • Ken! Old buddy, old friend! How are you doing.Hope you are feeling well. It's been a long time. Much has gone under the bridge since last we talked. Thanks for the info! I have a list of all the musicians but it does not say who plays on what. I will edit the info section. Thanks and hope your able to get back into the flow!.....Rick

  • I'm doin' a little better. Still recovering from back surgery. Long story ... but thanks for askin'.

I still have a stack of your Arsen vids in my inbox to check out one of these days. Haven't forgotten ... will get back to you when I get time to go thru 'em. I haven't spent much time at the computer for awhile 'cuz sitting is hard on my back. But that's improving.

See next post for Kansas creds for this album.

  • Kansas member credits for this album:

Phil -- drums on "Wait Until Tomorrow"

Steve -- drums on "So Many Nights" (yes, really)

Kerry -- guitar on "You Think You Got It Made"

Rich -- guitar on "Schemer Dreamer" / "That's All Right"

  • Thanks for the info Ken and I'm glad your coming along. I know what a bitch back problems are and I know they take a long time to heal. Get better my friend!

  • This is a really good song Rick! First time I've heard it. Awesome pics too!

  • Thanks Chaz!
