i actually went down there in july 2007 and worked on this actual house. its so exciting to see someone be able to move in. im so happy for Abby im glad i could help her.
It is easy to forget the success of the volunteers in the face of what still needs to be done. Thank you for this reminder. Thank you, Ella, for being one of those volunteers and making sure these stories get heard and people are not forgotten.
This story is a hope-filled example of how the kindness of strangers have positively changed Abby's life, and the lives of thousands of other residents of the Gulf Coast. Thanks to everyone who has helped -and to those volunteers who continue to help.
I was down in D'Iberville (where I believe this segment was filmed) in January of 2006 - six months after the hurricane. I was part of a group of faith based volunteers. We were a part of clean up - it was still a huge mess.
Thank you for the opportunity to see the other side of this, the moving back out of the FEMA trailer, the joy of coming back into life.
Thank you for the encouragement. It is a labor of love for the production team. Please keep up with the project, we'll be posting more short segments soon!

Beautifully done. We're in a FEMA "park model", which we're buying, so I know what it's like to be "movin' on up!"
