  • dance fever ....

  • Yea buddy!

  • Would love to purchase VCR or DVD of Solid Gold,Is there any chance of getting one?

  • Had to check this out as a Limey who never saw the show. Kurt Cobain said he used to dance around to Tori Amos' cover of 'Smells like Teen Spirit' like a Solid Gold Dancer. Ha ha ha!

  • Ok...I remember watching this with my family!!!

I never realized until now how sexy and suggestive it was, geez!!

No wonder why my brother always retreated to his room after

    the show LOL!!

  • so they just danced to 3 minutes of the current top time. and we watched it every night! why? well, this was before most people had cable and no satelite. If you were a horny boy, this is the closest to soft-core you could get, and no MTV yet.

  • Dancing to Rapture with cigarettes. Just wouldn't play today

  • some of my first boners were courtesy of the solid gold dancers(female)

  • i can see why this was popular. ie hot chicks in leotards

  • This was the best Music School ever had for me . . .

  • Due to the recession the value of this show gone up exponentially.

  • Note how the dancers are so not skinny. Babies got back! ... and thighs! Alas, those were the days.

  • spandex and nylons epic combo,,, miss the 80's

  • Wow...it's a little like "Showgirls"!

  • I had to sneak to watch this, my granny would beat me with a cane otherwise, lol

  • freaking' awesome. 80's music is the best!

  • these chicks were so hot i remember wanking it to this show every time it was on

  • @tribalson35 Were you wanking it, watching this on YT a month ago? :P

  • Comment removed

  • man would ya look at all those hairy pussy's! hell yeah! =^..^=

  • oh Dionne you wasted all your solid gold money on the psychic friends network

  • Mark Sellers made me wet.

  • American women have forgotten how to be sexy like these women from the early 80s. Conservative groups have made American women and America the most boring on Earth!

  • I've always had a thing for the girl with the black hair, she reminded me of Janet from threes company!

  • Reminds me sum 41 lol

  • They really were crap dancers, weren't they ?

  • @emucentral Ummm, I don't THINK so! Do you know Darcel? She is THE best out of all of them. You must be 15.

  • @emucentral WHO CARES...LOOK AT THE SEXY PANTYHOSE LEGS...MMMMMMM

  • Are those the Ace Rothstien dancers??

  • Great memories. VCRs back in 80-81 were like $600, I think.

  • who to blame ,MTV? Iluminati? lol.. Good memories, this reminds me of 1983 flashdance..

  • i would look at this show every Saturday evening right before dance fever

  • god, i thought i had buried this show in some deep recess of my subconscious.

    but here it is

  • watch?v=aUultIb2pPc&feature=player_embedded#

    We're All to Blame

    Sum 41 xDD

  • this was the best show ever

  • this show made everyone want to work out. Check out the ladies butt cheeks. Oh how I envy ...lol 01/06/2010

  • just saw them on live to dance!!

  • Watching those ladies gyrate those rear ends from 3:06 to 3:09 is just so awesome!! Absolutely outstanding!! Then, unfortunately, Dionne Warwick steps in the way... But not after a few seconds of pure ecstacy!! WOW!!

  • dirkthediggler. Lame name and comment. Lamenting the decade that brought us "Cops" and "Married with children".

  • GUYS REMEMBER DANCE FEVER

  • @PEANUTLOVEDADY yes, dance fever. the good old days! I like the new dance show Live to dance!

  • @PEANUTLOVEDADY Came on right after Solid Gold... with Danny Terrio

  • SMACK THAT BLACK ASS OMG

  • @PEANUTLOVEDADY funny lol

  • watch out at sum41 video clip..solid gold r the dancers at their video clips..viva la solid gold

  • Man, I LOVED this show!!

  • When I was a kid that show gave me the biggest boners.

  • wow, i love solid gold, man i miss those day's.

  • Holly shit these girls are hot!

  • funny how James Taylor was at #7 and at #3. same song....i use to love watching this show. it aired on Sunday evenings where i lived.

  • @roman32 ...well maybe someone spliced two weeks in a row together erroneously or something.

  • i wanted to be a solid gold dancer when i was a child:)

  • Man I remember this show as a "pre pubescent" teen, never noticed how provocative it was, I don't know how I missed that but I did?.. Goes to show how innocent a kid can be.

the music of the 60's 70's 80's and 90's rule! basically everything after that SUCKS!!

  • 1981!!! This was the year I was born!!! I'm so proud to be an 80's baby.

I'm glad that I was able to witness music at it's peak, before the late 90's garbage killed it. Before 1996, music was en pointe. Now, the FEW good songs of today are hard as hell to find.

  • @SpankRamen2 You ain't kidding good songs are hard to find. Everyone sounds unoriginal. Godsmack sounds like Metallica, Buckcherry sounds like AC/DC, Creed rips off Pearl Jam, and Maroon 5? I think Steveie Wonder should be alowed to make royalties off of them. And how about the 25,000 girls and women who sound exactly like Brittney Spears.

  • @mightyjoe911 .......we all did!!!

  • OMG!!

How much I loved this show!!!!

Wonder what happened to the dancers!!

    Always wanted to be one!!!

Spinnin to music -Spinnin to gold-Solid gold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    xxxxxSOLID GOLD 4EVERxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Got any of the SGD's dancing to "Legs" by ZZ Top? That one I've gotta see!

  • I LOVED THIS SHOW!

We used to watch Solid Gold every Saturday in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Darcel was my favorite dancer, this girl can MOVE!

  • Did anybody see the Kool and the Gang " She's Fresh" video? Was that Darcel doing the dance in the video or was that a chic that looked like like her? Someone tell me if you know.

  • My favorate Solid Gold Dancer. The only black girl out of all the dancers. If I'm not mistaken her name is Darcell. Man!! I had such a flaming crush on her when I was a teenager. She also reminded me of a girl I liked in middle school. Can somebody please lend me a time machine? If you do I will pack my bags and move back into the 80s

  • @qualifiedtowotk Same Here!

  • I use to love watching the solid gold dancers

  • hahahaha i like how almost every dance was sexy. james taylor's "her town too" is my new favorite stripper song.

  • ps: props for the Midnight Special mention..cant forget ROCK CONCERT..Soild Gold was a great mixture of Soul Train, AB + Midnight Special with a pinch of Playboy After Dark but in Vegas mode..

  • lmao! that theme is like at 250BPM ..lol before Soul Train really started getting risque..Solid Gold already had the market cornered..this show was corrupting me at 7 years old and I was LOVING IT!! legs and thighs high!!

they gotta dig up the Marilyn Mccoo + Toni Tenille episodes PRE Dionne!! Miss these times dearly..kinda bittersweet watching this..

  • Wow, Robert W. Morgan? I'm glad he told me because I did not recognize his voice. He was a great AM DJ back in the day.

  • Comment removed

  • Now that's one of the biggest understatements I have heard in a very long time. Robert W. Morgan was one of the greatest radio DJs that ever lived. RIP 1937-1998

  • Yeah, yeah he really was. I unfortunately only know of him thru scopes, since I never lived in LA, which explains why I didn't recognize his voice at first.

  • Remember this when I was a teen used to love the dancing at the time it used to look good cool.

  • Kahea was the best...what legs!

  • These fine ladies must be in their 50s now, but I wouldn't mind boning them !

  • Pam and Darcel were my fav. female dancers. They both looked gr8 thin or curvier as the years went by (-:

  • those lady dancers were smoking cigs........oooohhhhh I'm tellin

  • this is my favourite count down

  • Who is the girl at 2:43? In my minds eye, she would still be hot, even today. Does anybody know her name? Thanks

  • usually girls with babyfaces age very gracefully.

  • Pam Rossi

  • I am younger I was born in 84 so i dont remember this show but I was so curious to see how that chick u mentioned aged...I googled her name ..hey she is still very doable albeit a little meatier but she still looks good for her age thats for sure

  • rosie o donnell

  • Any idea where I can get this on DVD? Thanks!

  • This is pre Mtv music video revolution, this shit kicked ass back then, believe me it did!

  • Didn't it though? First there was Ed Sullivan, then American Bandstand, Sugarman's Midnight Special, Saturday Night Live, Solid Gold, Friday Night Videos, and finally MTV. Today there is so much media, you can catch the latest pop music culture on your phone. But yes, Solid Gold once kicked ass...good times!

  • aww, I loved Midnight Special. It was like a big party on TV. Miss those days.

  • You can say that again! Those women were hot as hell... they don't know how to do style today!

  • I dont want to be the one who has to explain THIS when the aliens arrive on Earth

  • I'd like to see a "where are they now"...about the Solid Gold Dancers.

  • I wanted to be a dancer because of the Solid Gold Dancers.

  • release the pearls. I just been to the toilet. success is exclusively for crunchy people. tjip tjip tjop tjip tjip tjop tjip tjip. there are tunnels somewhere

  • HUH??

  • meow. beware, this is only for mature readers and pirate monkeys.

    that explains your "HUH??"

  • Oh OK If you say so!

  • meow!

  • OMG..ha haaaaa.

Ah yes, I remember this as a 10 year. I could watch popular bands and singers lip-synch their songs.

And the dancers would flounder all over..

  • ahahahaha WOW, MORE explosions!!! =D

  • That woman has the BIGGEST nostrils!

  • I always wanted to be a solid gold dancer :) ...even though I was a very young girl watching this I loved the solid gold dancers.

  • i loved hall o notes went to their concert with my dad when i was 3 lol

  • I loved this show it was cool, it would be a good idea to bring the show to DVD and start a new Solid Gold

  • i agree i loved this show too! there is a market for it plus they could put it on vh1 or E channel. a new solid gold would go great! i would love to see a new SOLID GOLD DANCE TROUP !

  • Awesome idea there. But I would rather see it on a major tv network, that way it would stay clean and kids could watch it like we used too!! I looked forward to this show every week!

  • I grew up watching this show... probably saw every episode. And I think the Solid Gold Dancers inspired me to get my groove on more than anything else... How sad, in retrospect, that they look like a bunch of stiffly gyrating stick figures.

  • I used to watch this show every week and thought the dancers were so cool. Now, it's just cheesy and hardly what I would call dancing....

  • I grew up with solid gold during the 80's. That's why I still love the 80's songs so much.

  • Ahhhh yes... the solid gold dancers - great masturbation fodder for a 12-year old boy in 1981. : )

  • stripper whores.

    xx

  • wow, childhood memories

  • watching this show as a kid was how i learned to dance and dream.. solid gold aspirations!

  • How weird is it that the 2 girls at 1:11 are both dancing with cigarettes in their mouths?

  • The Solid Gold dancers, where are they now?

  • wheel chairs??

  • Mmm GOLD XD

  • Damn, that made me long for my childhood. Just sitting on the living room floor without a care in the world.

  • i know what u mean..i wanted to be so there where they made solid gold,..its a bygone era

  • loved it when I was a kid

  • This was my most favorite show as a kid..I wanted to be on there so bad!!!!!!!

  • TV was so much more innocent then...a show like Solid Gold would never make it today. I miss the 80's!

  • @DirkDiggler1102 __ i must have jerked off a thousand times to that show (the brunette in the red cowboy hat was my favorite. i think her name was debra) it was tough to get it timed right to pop during one of her segments.

    innocence indeed

  • @DirkDiggler1102 This show was born of the 70's.

  • @DirkDiggler1102

    INNOCENT?!!

  • @DirkDiggler1102 crazy thing is, as innoncent as this tv show seems, it would fit right in with today if your bring it up to speed because those outfits these woman have on are risky (for the 80's and even for certain audience today) not saying that we haven't seen way more nudity, sexier dancing lol

  • WTF is the guy wearing in the "Your Kiss Is On My List" peice!??!?! That is deeply hilarious.

  • male christina aguilera

that is hot by the way cause he has the right moves and the body

fashion in late 70ies and early 80ies is much more about freedom and cross dressing...it reflects the idea of emancipation of women and it's effects on the males!

    love it!

wear it myself once in a while!

  • haha! yeah I remember watching solid gold on tv as a kid... i also rememer watching richard simmons lol

  • Ditto and ditto. lol

  • I wish this still existed on tv.

  • I think the 2 male dancers went on to star in porn movies.

  • @GoThunderkit Tony Fields.the dark haired guy, died of cancer back in the '90s And,no,he never did porn. No one knows what happened to Alexander Cole, the redhead, after he left though

  • boing

  • LMAO! I was like 9 when this was on and it seemed as if my whole life revolved around it...

  • Great video! But how in the world did you accumulate over 120,000 views?! Thanks.

  • I wish I could've been a dancer for Solid Gold,

but now there's a strip club named Solid Gold in South Florida

    So I take that back...

  • I LIVED for this show when I was a kid! I wanted to be Darcelle (and I still wish i looked like her).

  • Me too. BIG TIME. I used to dance around in our game room pretending I was her. LOL!!!

  • Man o Man. It's like going back to Your Dreams as a Young-un. Being one of the popular Dancers at the school Dances,I got it in My Head, that I would join Lead Dancer and Choreopher Darcell Wynn and become HER top Solid Gold Dancer. Not only was it a beautiful thing to see a''Black Girl'' in front of all those Dancers, because You didn't see a lot of Black Dancers displayed like She was,if at all,but to know that She was the ''LEAD'' Dancer was F#@cking the coolest thing to realize and see.

  • Whatever happened to all the count-down shows?

  • Once 2000 hit there wasn't anything worth counting down anymore.

  • I... never knew there was a TV show for interpretive dance! (kind of)

The entire thing looks bad in hindsight, and the guys are terrible, but there are some pretty good dancers in there. Not so sure about the dances though...

  • If someone invented a time machine I would want someone to go to the 80's and make more 80's shows and movies. 80's r awesome!

  • I never missed a show!!!

  • My childhood dream was to be a Solid Gold dancer, Darcelle was my shero!!!

  • My gosh - those women were GORGEOUS!

  • There was some serious cameltoe going on in this clip.

  • my mom used to watch this show...LOL

  • I used to watch this show! Am I really old enough to have kids now? Where did the time go...

  • I know huh? I use to watch it too! =P

  • where's Smarty Marty Harty the comedian guy ??

  • Awesome! Awesome! Can't believe I am watching Solid Gold Clips! Smashing show - thanks for posting:-))

  • hot dayum

  • Gotta love those beautiful girls in those high cut tights! Talk about gorgeous sexy bodies!

Dione Warwick "pre-psychic friends network days".

  • This seemed like a combination of two different shows. Anyway still loved it!

  • This was my show as a kid. My babysitter and I used to watch it and I can remember putting on my dance leotard and spangly leg warmers with my older sister's high heels, jumping up on our marble coffee table and swangin' my thang. My career was rather shortlived though when I took a nosedive and chipped my front tooth. The babysitter had a pretty creative cover story though. lmao

  • Wow time machine!! remeber dance fever!!

  • A real jolt to the memories! 27 years ago. My God... I was in love with the dancer Paula, and hated it when the guy dancers touched her. When she didn't return for the later seasons, I was saddened for a long, long time. I hope she's doing well today, LOL Paula...

  • dionne was gorgeous, and the dancers were mesmerizing...thanks for posting and taking me down sentimental street on saturday nites before heading out the door.

  • I remember this show as a kid, The Lead Dancer Darcell Wynn was my inspiration she is part black and part Indian BEst Dancer on the show i loved her body, I always wanted her hair and her bottom, I prayed that i would grow into a body like hers, especially the rear end, well my prayers got answered i got a long weave and im a 36D with a big butt! i'm also a dancer and part indian cheerokee and i danced on MTV the Grind as a regular, Today I am ms.106&Park still pretty, still dancing.

  • this is like some old p flicks

  • Oh, what memories!! I never missed this!

  • omg this was so cool

  • Pans People pioneered such dancers in 1960's and 1970's on BBC TV, who were followed by Legs and Co who had an ethnic minority dancer in the 70's. I have enjoyed these clips which clearly show a Benny Hill Angels influence as well. Solid Gold music interesting as not all hits cross the Atlantic to UK

  • Does anyone know the name of the dark-haired dancer who does the james taylor song? thank you!

  • You mean Deborah Jensen???

  • To ronafer69: Correct. Deborah Jensen. Thank you! :-)

  • That would be Pam. (I'm sure of it).

  • I was 10 when this aired. Jeeezz, now I feel old.

  • Darcell Leonard was great. She was the first blackwoman and then there was a more technically train dancer named

" Gi Gi Hunter". They were both phenomenal woman who broke barriers for dancers of color on television during that era....Kudous to them.

  • Also we need not to forget about Jamilah Lucas who was a Solid Gold dancer from 1984 - 1988.

  • I use to love to watch this show. My dad would sit there and say, "damn, would ya look at that". These chicks were pretty much stripers that were put on tv.

  • i use to love this show and i use to love that doll-madam, i think it's funny because i think jaon rivers looks like that doll! but this is a great show i wish they could show them again.

  • did joyce dewitt from three's company join solid gold before of after?

  • coman mondá
