Almudena was great gymnast! From 1996 to 2008 she didn't get all what she deserved: at least a bronze in an all around competition in world or European championship!
This is something that is apparent to almost everyone, and it's a shame that the FIG doesn't do anything about it. It's killing the popularity of the sport, no one wants to watch a sport where the best aren't being rewarded.

It is nothing wrong with Olga, just that she was noot good in 2009 and she doesnt desrve gold 2007 and four place at 2008 OG. And if you hate her routine, it is her coach mistake and so what she drops something everybody makes mistakes!

ive noticed with kapranova that she one of the sloppiest, most overscored gymnasts ever. when she isn't competing (when she's doing her galas/ exhibitions) she is so much cleaner and less tense.
well i dont think that it is a gymnasts descion for the judges wat score they get, its not like they tell the judges wat score they want and BAM! they get it. there would be many 1st places if they could do that. but all a gymnast can say if she doesnt get first place is... work. then it will be clear that I will get first place.
Bessonova and my beloved Godunko are best that kapranova Kapranova always fall in the montages ! and she doesn`t use the elements! her raoutines are horrible!

Hola mmmmm ,creo que en parte tienes mucha razon,el otorgarle medallas a Kapranova es premiar la torpeza y lo repetitivo pero en lo que no stoy de acuerdo es en lo de la Kanaeva cabe aclarar que no soy seguidor de ella,no me agrada mucho pero el fanatismo que pudiera tener hacia otra gimnasta no me cega y siendo objetivos la Kanaeva es muy buena,posee una tecnica muy depurada y un manejo de los 5 aparatos todos en pèrfecta aromonia,pienso que ella dista mucho de ser la tipica chica Vinner

De hecho la gimnasia rítmica es uno de los deportes más complejos y completos. No es cuestión de arrojar al aire la pelota, el aro, el listón o las clavas. El entrenamiento es de los más arduos que puedas imaginarte y es por eso que sólo las mejores triunfan. Kanaeva ganó en Beijing por ser la mejor. De hecho sigue triunfando por encima de Bessonova, quien ya se retiró este año.
Apparently the corruption didn't get to the Olympics. Kanaeva's performances were gold medal material. Kapranova's didn't get into the medals because of her clubs routine. I think everybody else placed where they should have been placed.
I agree with you in that Kanaeva got the gold fairly, but I didn't like the fact that the judges seemed so biased against Bessonova, giving her lower scores when everyone knew she deserved better ones. I thought she should've been above Inna Zhukova.
I don't think it was corruption. Zhukova did very well in the final, and Kapranova helped her get into the medals. Bessonova was only .25 ahead in difficulty+artistic (weighted under current code of points). She was .25 behind Zhukova in execution just in the rope routine. Still, it was quite hard to honestly say who did better. It came down to small differences in opinion and perception.
i'm quite confused by this myself. inna has always been underscored like other gymnasts, then suddenly she gets 2nd in the OG. Not that she doesnt deserve it, i just find it very weird. And the belarus group too! It almost beat russia at one point! and the belarus group wasnt a group which alway landed on the podium in the past years. More belarussian judges? I have no idea.
Inna did do well enough to get into the medals. She was .05 ahead of Anna, so it's hard to argue that one did better than the other. Belarus also improved a lot. They beat Russia in the qualifications because Russia messed up their 5x routine. China's inclusion in the medals was much more controversial.
Anna is a beautiful gymnast but in OG Inna was the best!I like Anna and Inna so it's not a problem for me, but I can understand that some people are disappointed.

I love bessonova, but since I discovered Kanaeva 3 years ago I have become a huge fan, and truthfully she does better routines according to the rules, and should therefore win gold in bejing

This must have been one of the most unfair imo.. Imo the gold medals should have been like this:
Rope: Godunko, Hoop: Bessonova, Clubs: Bessonova, Ribbon: Kanaeva.. And the other medals should have been different too... The judging makes me sick!!
The judges don't arn't meant to look at the technical side of things they're meant to look at grace aswell. I personaly think that quite often Kabaeva has good grace, and Bessonova's grace is OUTSTANDING! I like your montage, very good!
Poor Kapranova, Kabaeva, Viner, and the like! They have become absolutely blind to the fact that their victories have obsene smell. Mediocrity and failures wrapped in gold... Let's have some pity for them, yet theirs is moral tragedy.

It's not possible to have an opinion like that. That's like saying "my opinion is that Manchester is the capital of Great Britain because I think it's nicer than London". TECHNICAL ANALYSIS made by EXPERTS show that russians were overscored with up to 3 points in each routine. It's documented with explanations on every single element as to why it was or wasn't counted. You find these analysis in the Code of Points section on rsg dot net slash forum without the *s.
I think its also important ot keep in mind that Russia has the biggest name sponsors for RG. No other country supports the sport as much as Russia and without Russia and its sponsors I dont think the sport would be where its at today.
Yes they did, and no they shouldn't have. Belarus lacked their major player but IMO they were still better, and Bulgaria should have had the bronze. But the worst was either way the titles in the finals - Kapranova for hoop, Sessina for clubs, Garaeva for rope. All had evident errors. The only OK one was Kanaeva for ribbon.
Thank you Katya for making this and I couldn't agree more. I don't profess to be a RSG expert (WAG is my love) but it seems Anna is always undermarked much like Ira used to be. Maybe one there will be some justice, for now it is in our hearts.

I think Kanaevas ribbon was overscored.(i'm not saying she's bad,she's very brilliant, it's not kanaeva's fault, it's judger falut,that she's given too much points.) She wasn't doing anything different than the other gymnasts. Anyone else could have as much as score as Kanaeva. My brother was watching Baku champs with me and he said how did she get so high scores?(my brother doesn't understand anything about rhythmics, but anyway)
Ok well my opinion is that russians deserve to win cause their always the best gymnasts at competitions. That being said I do still think other gymnasts did better than Vera and Kapranova. So yea there was a lot of injustice

That's not true. Analysis show that russians are overscored with up to 3 points just in difficulty. Then comes artistry, excecution ... they do not deserve to win at all.

It astonishes me that the judging controversies still plague this sport. Only displays of extreme flexibility are awarded, no matter how uncontrolled the gymnast is which is CLEARLY the case with Olga Kapranova. Consistently good gymnasts who demonstrate a variety of elements are not awarded. Everyone forgets that one of the first aesthetic principles of the sport is to make the apparatus appear as an extension of your body. I hope that the judges get it right in Beijing.
Haha...heck, shes BEEN out of shape for awhile now...dont know why she didnt go still, no matter how out of shape she is all the judges will award her gold (unless she drops her apparatus out of bounds, but all her other drops dont count) because of all the judging scandal.

De hecho la gimnasia rítmica es uno de los deportes más complejos y completos. No es cuestión de arrojar al aire la pelota, el aro, el listón o las clavas. El entrenamiento es de los más arduos que puedas imaginarte y es por eso que sólo las mejores triunfan. Kanaeva ganó en Beijing por ser la mejor. De hecho sigue triunfando por encima de Bessonova, quien ya se retiró este año.

Apparently the corruption didn't get to the Olympics. Kanaeva's performances were gold medal material. Kapranova's didn't get into the medals because of her clubs routine. I think everybody else placed where they should have been placed.

I agree with you in that Kanaeva got the gold fairly, but I didn't like the fact that the judges seemed so biased against Bessonova, giving her lower scores when everyone knew she deserved better ones. I thought she should've been above Inna Zhukova.

I don't think it was corruption. Zhukova did very well in the final, and Kapranova helped her get into the medals. Bessonova was only .25 ahead in difficulty+artistic (weighted under current code of points). She was .25 behind Zhukova in execution just in the rope routine. Still, it was quite hard to honestly say who did better. It came down to small differences in opinion and perception.

i'm quite confused by this myself. inna has always been underscored like other gymnasts, then suddenly she gets 2nd in the OG. Not that she doesnt deserve it, i just find it very weird. And the belarus group too! It almost beat russia at one point! and the belarus group wasnt a group which alway landed on the podium in the past years. More belarussian judges? I have no idea.

Inna did do well enough to get into the medals. She was .05 ahead of Anna, so it's hard to argue that one did better than the other. Belarus also improved a lot. They beat Russia in the qualifications because Russia messed up their 5x routine. China's inclusion in the medals was much more controversial.

Anna is a beautiful gymnast but in OG Inna was the best!I like Anna and Inna so it's not a problem for me, but I can understand that some people are disappointed.

Unfortunely,Anya don`t have any change to win the gold in Beijing.Viner never let her win.
Auntie Viner has the gold in her hands,and she decides to gives to Kanaeva.The gold is decides,Anya can only fight for silver or bronze.And Kapranova gonna be in the podium no matter what.The Russians makes mistakes but dosent matter,they allways being in the podium,that`s no fair.

Can i just say a little opinion. For me nowadays, Bessonova is the really first on all the dimension of RG.
After, on choreography, Bessonova is the best.

I also love Yussupova that i think have a huge potential, she just have the class! I would love Nechka coach her!
Sessina is not so bad, but it's the same, she just need to find a good trainer. Also, Godunko, Peycheva, Paiseva...

Thanks a lot... it was just a tremendous injustice in the European championship, Bessonova should have won, but Viner did what she knew to do... manipulate judges. I think, and I hope, really hope, in Beijing the real champions be in the podium.... I like a lot all the other gymnastics that not usual get medals: Peycheva, Godunko, Cid, etc,etc. Thanks kaja for your video.!!!

For me the sumum of scandal still the 2000 olympic games... The classification, if it would have been a normal sport would have been as follow:
1- Raskina (and i didn't like her so much)
2- Barsukova ( Because of her mistake at the rope)

Rope: Godunko, Hoop: Bessonova, Clubs: Bessonova, Ribbon: Kanaeva.. And the other medals should have been different too... The judging makes me sick!!

The judges don't arn't meant to look at the technical side of things they're meant to look at grace aswell. I personaly think that quite often Kabaeva has good grace, and Bessonova's grace is OUTSTANDING! I like your montage, very good!

It's not possible to have an opinion like that. That's like saying "my opinion is that Manchester is the capital of Great Britain because I think it's nicer than London". TECHNICAL ANALYSIS made by EXPERTS show that russians were overscored with up to 3 points in each routine. It's documented with explanations on every single element as to why it was or wasn't counted. You find these analysis in the Code of Points section on rsg dot net slash forum without the *s.

I think its also important ot keep in mind that Russia has the biggest name sponsors for RG. No other country supports the sport as much as Russia and without Russia and its sponsors I dont think the sport would be where its at today.

Yes they did, and no they shouldn't have. Belarus lacked their major player but IMO they were still better, and Bulgaria should have had the bronze. But the worst was either way the titles in the finals - Kapranova for hoop, Sessina for clubs, Garaeva for rope. All had evident errors. The only OK one was Kanaeva for ribbon.

I think Kanaevas ribbon was overscored.(i'm not saying she's bad,she's very brilliant, it's not kanaeva's fault, it's judger falut,that she's given too much points.) She wasn't doing anything different than the other gymnasts. Anyone else could have as much as score as Kanaeva. My brother was watching Baku champs with me and he said how did she get so high scores?(my brother doesn't understand anything about rhythmics, but anyway)

Ok well my opinion is that russians deserve to win cause their always the best gymnasts at competitions. That being said I do still think other gymnasts did better than Vera and Kapranova. So yea there was a lot of injustice

It astonishes me that the judging controversies still plague this sport. Only displays of extreme flexibility are awarded, no matter how uncontrolled the gymnast is which is CLEARLY the case with Olga Kapranova. Consistently good gymnasts who demonstrate a variety of elements are not awarded. Everyone forgets that one of the first aesthetic principles of the sport is to make the apparatus appear as an extension of your body. I hope that the judges get it right in Beijing.
