I work in a retirement home and see this every single day. This song gets to me every time I hear it. Reminds me off all the precious ones we have lost over the years with no family, not a single soul but us who worked with them. Rest in peace my angels I think of you all every single day!
@morignagaia In my opinion, people should STOP being so self-centred & at least try to take care of their own family when they get to be old. Money isn't everything & if we live long enough, we will get to be old someday too. My family lives like the Waltons under one roof, Grandma & Grandpa are a little forgetful but are still important to us & the kids love them. Nobody gets left behind in my family...we take care of our own family with no regrets. Our house is full of love. Lesson learned.
@MegaTmarshall yes that is a marvelous thing indeed to live with such love under one roof. The point I was making is that there are people who have no family but those of us who work at the facilities they live in. Granted it has been a very small number thank goodness but it still happens. It is those who are so alone that I go out of my way to pay attention to. All of my residents are important of course that is a given.
@morignagaia I wish you love, joy and laughter as well. And I thank God that there are caring people like you around to take care of these poor lonely old souls. Kathleen, you must be a very kind & special person to do the kind of work that you do in taking care of the elderly. This song & video gets to me too. I'm not the kind of guy that cries easily but this video upsets me every time that I see it. The words just tear my heart out.
Great message ! Sadly, probably all of the golden age people in this video are gone today... Don't forget their sacrifice of giving us a better world so our kids could play safe. Thanks R&H !!!
Food for thought: Check out Elvis Costello's "Veronica", written for his grandmother. The lyrics tell you all about her world; she has dementia. Lovely song, and really rocks at the same time.
I think the song is about everybody gets older! You should never ignore some one just cause they are old. Seniors are the link to the past and you can learn from there experiences. The song is about how when you get older less and less people talk to you.
I think you are missing the words to the song, try listening again, I think they are very clear in the message they are trying to say in their song about people growing older.
The whole idea behind the song is to make people realize that the older generation has a lot of things to add to our lives and we shouldn't just shut them up in nursing homes and forget about them - we should take the time to talk to them, listen to them, because they have lived longer, have things to teach us, and they still have value.
Loud Rockers....I think you need to explore the catalog of Rock and Hyde, as well as Payola$ songs. They sing a lot of incredibly powerful ballads. Personal favourite....."Here's The World For Ya". Check it out.
Life is like a roll of toilet paper...the closer that you get to the end of it, the faster that it slips away.

This song says it all. Too many old people are dying alone in this world. So get out there and talk to them!

I didn't know there was a video for this song! I won't watch it though because I have my own idea and memories and images of what this song is.

The song is good but I always found the video rather odd. Why are a bunch of loud rockers jamming in a seniors' home? Seems a tad out of place to me.

Thanks guys. It does seem like quite a departure from their other work, don't you think? Either way I support the song and its message.
