  • ¡Qué nitidez! Además, me encanta su interpretación, aunque haya quien la considere lenta por pasajes...

  • the clarity of her sound is unmatched... she really lets every single note come to the forefront! one of the best recordings of rach 3

  • I always HESITATE before coming to these areas of extreme art, because I know I will get NOTHING else done today. THANKS!

  • Eis a prova de que mesmo tendo mãos pequenas é possivel tocar Rachmaninoff!

  • @jbbny I love Alicia but Martha does, in my little view, own this concerto. Martha's speed is much closer to the playing of Sergei and Horowitz. At the same, time I marvel at this little woman playing concerti such as this and Brahms B flat..... THAT is a marvel in and of itself. She is awesome...............

  • It's Rachmaninov!!, not "r"achman"i"onov

  • @TitinioBayagbag STFU She is an outstanding artist not to be compared with her fellow Spaniard who is from Argentina. I am a die hard Argerich fan but Alicia rocks too. This little woman that handles this concerto like a lion. Shut up........

  • I hope these live recordings will become avialable later or that someone will post them.

  • An amazing pianist to say the least.... But do you all know she recorded all the Rachmaninoff Concertos, This womans rep is astounding. I have always loved her playing, just when you think, "oh here comes that part" She nails it without hesitation.. And what depth, and passion she plays with, when required.. I will miss you Alicia..

  • I don't think that's quite correct; she never recorded (or even publicly played) the 1st, 4th or the Paganinni Rhapsody...OTOH her live perfs of the 2nd and 3rd cncrtos are if anything, even more astounding than the studio versions on London/Decca. The live recordings I have of these two concertos are among the most prized versions I have in my collection...they are beyond almost beyond belief in their musicality and control...her live 3d concerto easily surpasses even Argerich IMO.

  • you are correct she did not play the 1st, 4th ( which she did not like) but she had worked on extensively the first and the Paganini variations, I saw her teach the first once and she really knew her way around the score, I totally agree her live performance beat just about everybody hands down!

  • I am absolutely right, about her recording all of them. I own them.Just do a search on them..I dont know of a recording of the Paganinni that was ever done. On the other hand, Her live recording of the Brahms 2nd is Heavenly..Speaking of the performances of the Rach 3rd by Argerich, and De laroccha, They are both brillant in their own ways. I hardly would even make a comment of one surpassing the other easily. Horowitz, although different in his own right, plays a magnificent Rach 3rd.

  • I actually heard her practice Rachmanioff 1 but never knew of her performing it and she disliked Rach 4 and I cant imagine her playing anything that she did not think was interesting . . .

  • mwk12kev, I totally agree with you!!!

She was, first of all, a MUSICIAN. And what a musician!!!!!!!

  • Dears TastyZwieback and cantaveram, you must be that kind of people that only enjoy music when there is a great show, lots of noise, beating on the piano and playing fast ... She was always less interested in virtuosity - and more interested in conveying the soul of the music.

Well, I respect your opinion (It is impossible to please everyone), but I do not agree at all.

  • And the thing that amazed me most about her was that she had MORE technique to burn than the majority of the pianists before the public.

She was a MUSICIAN first, a pianist second!

  • Both cantaveram and TastyZwieback simply know nothing about music.

  • how can you claim to know lots about music and think this is boring¿?¿? I can find nothing boring in thei the phrasing is flawless , clean and wonderfully sung, the voicing is amazing everything is perfectly laid out ! where do you hear boring??

  • I dont know what you know about music but no way can i understand this as boring, the tempi are excellent the phrasing is wonderful and beautifully sung, the clarity is astounding the entire concerto is on an astounding level of pianism what more do you want??

  • i completely disagree with you,....just because one hears every note, with beautiful rich sound, without banging the piano and plays it in not a hysterical tempo and actually makes music, for a change, it doesnt mean is uninspired nor boring.. it is actually quite an AMAZING performace,... real music making of the highest caliber,...

  • this beautiful player deserves a lot more glory

  • Thank you!!!!! Do you know if is it possible to get the CD and where? I've been waiting years to have it !!!!!!.

    O.M.G. this is fabulos!!!!!!!

  • Magnifico! Muchas gracias
