  • Bet you met some very interesting souls, cheers!

  • @sufizmjim Some of the best! :)

  • that is an awesome video. loved it. how'd you like northern ontario? lol

  • Cool video, Awful Music

  • The graffiti an streaks are one of the historys is pretty sweet.

  • Looked like an awesome trip! when they stop on double track, be careful there doing a pass.

  • Most of train hopping is not getting caught. I don't really have any first hand experience with bulls but their not really anything to worry about. Just be prepared to deal with the consequences of getting caught or injured. If you can handle the responsibility that comes with the freedom you will be fine. Safety always comes first thought, never but not getting caught ahead of not getting hurt.

  • I'd love to go train hopping, since I'm already an active hitchhiker myself. But I'm always afraid of the guards- are the bulls really bad if they catch you? If so, any tips on how not to get caught?

  • Your videos make me wish I were a bit younger and more adventurous. Keep up the great work and stay safe.

  • @SteveD328 Ah age is just a state of mind..unless your in a wheel chair of course ;)

  • @wizehop Do you try to hop off before you enter yards and humps?

  • You uploaded this video almost one month before my brother died Nov 29th 2008 at only 22 years old. He was a traveler by the name of EarthStar and he was killed by freight train during a hop in New Mexico. I enjoy videos like this. To every traveler train hoppin' squater much love and happy trails. <3

  • @MagicMedicine37 Sorry for your loss, he'll be in my thoughts the next time I head out. His soul lives on through the rest of us.

  • @wizehop Is it hard to hop on a Cn train i have tryed a few times And failed almost broke my shoulder bone.

    Any tips?

  • @300381548 for starters dont try and get on moving trains

  • first time i went i went to roseville lol i slept half the way there until bout lodi the noise aint bad its actualy prefered it wudnt be the same with out it

  • first time i went i went to roseville lol i slept half the way there until bout lodi the noise aint bad its actualy prefered it wudnt be the same with out it

  • does the noise get old?

  • @muellerd123 it can actually be comforting

  • When you do this, do you find you need to hid yourself from everybody? Or, just railroad personnel and police? I would be worried about every "do-godder" with a cell phone seeing me.

  • @bradrnstyle your always looking out for everyone and everything

  • u guys are awsome i have a question did u guys ever cross the border in a train

  • does anyone know a forum or a website where I could meet other train hoppers? Really want to do a ride but don't wanna do it alone thanks for any info!

  • awsome videos!

just wondering if you guys have jobs or do you just travel around ?

  • @GGC94 ya we work for the most part...as much as I love freight hopping I like world traveling too..so unless I can get free plane rides Ill have to work from time to time

  • @GGC94 glad you enjoyed it..although it is possible I don't mess with boarders. In today's day and age it isn't worth the risk.

  • Cant wait to head out in two weeks for my travels! think ill take the mid to the overland. I love riding trains!

  • This is Great ! I used to work onboard Amtrak. Great way to see the countries..

  • @goodeye03 I rode Amtrak once in my life..no twice..once from LA to San Diego and once from San Fran to Bakersfeild..twas a nice ride.

  • Awesome video! I've always wanted to hop a train. Let me ask you something: Have you ever come in contact with other hoppers or homeless railroad types that were threatening? Have you ever gotten badly hurt while catching out?

these are just things that i hear happen a lot. any info would be great!

  • @barcodeboy13 Never gotten badly hurt and never really ran into people on the rails I didn't plan on seeing. That being said some train yards are in bad parts of town and there may be some rough folk around..not necessarily train related.

  • @wizehop goood info ...the trick is ride your own ride i guess

  • awesome video! where is this?

  • @davejl87 Different parts of Ontario and Quebec Canada

  • @davejl87 Canada

  • I'm going this summer with some of my friends one has been hopping trains for 13 years he's making me learn everything before I go though

  • Comment removed

  • @noobishdumbberry Haha fuck yea I really don't know where we're going we still have like 2 months to plan all I know is there we're going to catch one some where in cali

  • @Codyscoots1996 nice bro.... im stilll a little.. young, but that wont get in the way. i cant fucking wait, 12 more days

  • @noobishdumbberry Yea i'm only 15 but i'v known these people for a few years and they know i'm not stupid and going to fuck around while riding. It's a nice way to die or get some jail time

  • @noobishdumbberry You sound like the type thats prolly a kid, the type that blows up the rails, and fucks it all up for us seasoned riders.

  • Ill be ib the NE US in May maybe we will cross paths take it easy. The Breeze btw if your near a UP line watch out they are giving Bonuses to workers who rat out riders

  • You guys ride Safe. The Breeze

  • i would so love go go out train hopping with you guys

  • @kjcchickennugget YOur to sweet, youd have to come to India these days though! ;)

  • @wizehop woah :D lol

  • And stop sticking your head out.

You WILL get caught. If I ever hop a train i wouldn't so much as stick my nose out.

  • @RuneWorksMovie man Ive been riding trains for 12 years, never been caught. Don't need pointers from you. Thanks for watching

  • I hate ppl like you that hop trains because it's fun.

You hop trains for a free ride if you need to travel up north or something . Don't abuse it!

  • the song in the video will forever remind me of trains.

  • @smellysk3lly nice!

  • 2:34 FUCKING COOL

  • damn that looks fun

  • first @hoboshoestring if you do that dr. phil shit your a idiot.

    2nd @MOARTOAST Agreed.

and 3rd @ultimakunai i hope your brother at least knows what he's doing cuz it doesnt sound like you do.

i wish all you weekend warriors would stop fucking it up for the rest of us that live our lives like this 24/7 365 days a year.

  • @LittleJo71 how do weekend warriors fuck it up for you guys..they never get caught. Its the 24/7 gutter punks that stop and get pulled of trains on the regular because there too fucked up to hop trains properly The railroad is a business, these vids or the odd hopper doesnt affect them. What does is skids who ride out in the open waisted on cheep booze who think they own the rails. Or these crusty kids who travel in packs with there dogs like there fleeing from Mexico.

  • @wizehop you the man wizehop!

  • Great video guys well done and thanks ,it was enjoyable ...

  • @1:27 me and tomfool rode the juice train like that - under some steel decking. whats that called to ridethere? any special name? maybe something like deck stuffed? thats what it felt like deck stuffing your self and gear

  • @originalanthraxtony Not sure if there is a term for that one man, if there is I havent heard it yet.

  • Dont let schooling interfere with your education- mark twain

  • @HoboShoestring

    dye trying

  • You guys need to remember to get down so the hoggers don't fuckin see you

  • I'm going in the summer with my brother across canada, from vancouver to newfoundland or toronto for my 1st trip, im so stoked dude. Maybe ill see you on the trains. And all the fuckers saying we're retarded, how many people do u know that have gone and didnt say it was amazing? none, cuz it is, and u should get ur ignorant asses into the parts of the world that arent bullshit and flooded in lies and fear.

  • Iv'e been living in an apt for over 2 yrs now want nothing more that to get back on the rails. Fuck having responsibilities..

  • @HoboShoestring Hey man...Watch those shows, they tend to exploit people and I'm not sure DR Phil understands hobos....but if you do make it on Ill check it out for sure.

  • this video was stupid, your all retards.

  • @TheLinss the correct term is "Special needs"..be nice now

  • i think all the people in that video should be killed and i know some day they will meet some people alone on a train in the middel of nowhere who dont think that the world is beautfull and that making videos of illegal transportation witch should be kept as underground as possible and leting the whole world see is a stupid idea

  • @bradleybumlove Maybe that person we run into will be you

  • good song

  • wonderful :)

  • Hey guys,

Just planning my 1st freight-hop trip across Can (Vancouver-Montreal). I just wanted to know, how do you get on these trains? Like, how do you avoid the bulls... and getting runnover haha. And most importantly, WHERE DO I GET ON? How do I find the yards. Is there like a map with all the freight routes for CN/CPR and stuff?

    Any general advice in general?

    Thanks guys, much appreciated

  • looks so fun

  • wow what a great adventure...

  • i really wish that i could do this. i want to live on the trains and sleep under the moving stars, and let durt live under my finger nails and between my toes. i want to jump on to moving trains and see everything i can see and leave in incredible paintings behind on the walls of the cars. that sounds like heaven!!! but deep down inside i know i would never be able to do this :(

  • @MrPsychoSquid Are you sure its not the other way around...deep down inside you want to do it, but on the outside you cant. You have to follow your sole, any barrier that is preventing you from dong so is only superficial.

  • Comment removed

  • @wizehop i think you're right...i feel like i'm always thinking of incredible ways i could live my life, but i just end up never doing them because of some pathetic reson no to. and i just end up sitting in my room again dreaming of more incredible expresses i tell myself can't happen. this video was one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen, i swear that it changed my life. from now on, i'm going to do i wished that i would have and live the best damn life possible!!! :D

  • @MrPsychoSquid nice..I hope this isn't like those new years resolutions no one keeps ;)

  • @wizehop oh, no way! cross my hart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye! :)

  • @wizehop i haven't hopped a train yet, but i did do one thing i thought i couldn't do, i had one of my paintings up for sale in a gallery for the first time this past saturday! i just thought i shoud let you :)

  • @MrPsychoSquid Nice one, how did it feel?

  • @wizehop it was absolutely incredible, i felt like my first child was born or something! X)

  • At 3:56 - 4:10 we are beating the CN on the Belleville sub - yaa! I remember that race many times.

  • Life is too short.. I want to spend a few years living train jumping, several more years Biking all over North America, then living for more years with nothing, off the streets... At 47 I feel like I have pissed my life away..

  • @cyclenut no better time than the present to start doing what you want!

  • @cyclenut are you gonna do it? Im 28 and I dream of the same

  • @cyclenut whats the difference between that and working in a cubicle for more then half of your life? difference is u were free, u experienced life and do what humans do travel.

  • @cyclenut You should spend the next few years jumping trains every 12 hrs like I do.. You can also get paid 70,000 a year to ride.. Just get a job ..it's probally not as much fun riding in the enigine but hey atleast I'm not freezing my ass off in the winter..lol

  • @x0811b i was going to go that route man but I'm already set in a family business path that doest involve trains

  • Canada is just so beautiful! And you have seen it in the best way possible!!!

  • fuck yeah fuck yeah!?!?!?!?!

  • That's Living-Real-Hard- Rate Up!!

  • 19000 hits! niice!

  • i want to do this but dont know how to plan it

  • some day i will do this as well!

  • next time you are in mactier stop by for a cold beer and a hot meal before you go

  • @foxsnakes1 will do, thanks for the offer

  • whats the name of that song

  • @Vpopov81 MGMT- time to pretend

  • Hey there's a train track that runs right through my town. I don't know where it starts or stops. You mean to tell me that if I can figure out how to get on it I can live like that? I wanna do this.

  • OMG that is one of the most amazing videos I have ever seen, I need to do this before I die, can I do it from NYC ?

  • @muppetchile you can ride trains anywhere just be careful

  • @muppetchile you CAN do it from nyc.... but id advise not to catch out from there, find a spot a little bit fatrther away from the city.... and read up alot on online about everything you need to know, would help to bring someone thats already ridden trains before too, or atl east knows thier way around them

  • i was thinkin about doin this in ohio to see where it goes .

  • I've been everwhere between Vancouver & Halifax, the only mainline I haven't rode is the CN rout thu the northern praries. I've rode between Vancover & T.O. the most, I tend to hitch some too so I'm often hopping out of new cc's along the same line. Poco, Kamloops, field, Calgary, Medicine Hat, Winnepeg & Thunder Bay are the cc's I never seem to miss either comming in or hopping out.

  • @nEaL7a3u Nice!, you almost have to stick to the main lines in Canada..although there has been talk about the line that runs up to Hay river in the NWT

  • My first ride whn I was 17 crossing the country for the first time was suggested by a train worker who filled me & my friend in on how to hop, where to hop & more or less hooked us up with train culture. Before I met him I didn't even know it was possable anymore. I'm 29 now & have been all over north America coast to coast many times - thrs nothing like it.

  • Where in Canada do you tend to ride the most?

  • The best times, in my opinion, are with a good group of legit hobo kid/types. There's some ppl I have refused to give cc to & take hopping cuz thr likely to get thmselves hurt & or fuck things up for the rest of us. Workers, atleast in Canada, seem to judge yr lvl of responsability & can be invaluable alies.

  • I've hopped many many times alone, sometimes it's bettr, sometimes not. If yr not xperienced u should hop with someone who is, & who is responsible. Othr thn that it is personal prefrence, for the most part, and the availability of a good partner. There are many ppl in my opinion that shouldn't be hopped with but the opposite is also true, especially in Canada. Depending on the time of year and area yr also likely to meet cool ppl.

  • @nEaL7a3u This sounds like an awesome lifestyle...Have you ever come across FTRA and if so, have they been friendly or are they neo-nazis that have an appetite for violence?

  • Comment removed

  • i want to do that but go far this time, just dont have anybody to go with..is doing it alone not a good idea?

  • I train hopped alone for years before I met up with other riders

  • Lostboyfalcon doesn't know what he's talkn about. Thrs crazies everywhere & life is dangerouse, unless yr some middle class bougoise wanker jailed in autos behind locked doors & security guarded workplaces. I'd rather live free thn "safe" & fearful!

  • ya people die every day doing things that are "perfectly safe".

  • Nice one wizehop. I rode freights in the US back in the 70's and 80's, back and forth on the Union Pacific, Western Pacific, Southern Pacific and Rock Island lines.

I don't know about anymore, but it used to be you could ask a guy in a hardhat in the freightyard for which train was going which way, just so long as you watched out for the RR detectives. I only once ever got caught and that was because i hopped in the Back Unit (at the advice of a hobo).

I do miss it. Your video soothed that.

  • ya nowadays you cant really do that, at least in my neck of the woods. I haven't been caught yet but there actively hunting me..which is nice. Glad your enjoying the vids.

  • very well done - but looks too dangerous!

  • hi--- why not just apply for a train crew job with the railroad,,,,,,if you like to spend time in a dirty, dangerous, away from home a whole lot,,,,,,let them PAY you for it!!

  • @tcvideosennistexas Definitely thought about it, but its not the same. I love getting off but I would hate to be a porn star.

  • haha they are not going to be hiring for a long time buddy.

  • @tcvideosennistexas because doing it for a living just ain't the same!

  • Dang ol tramps! Just remember this, SAFTEY 1ST!! Enjoy the ride!

  • I'd love to do this. Badly worn wheel at 1:29? If so, it should be immediately taken out of service. Why do they call it "suicide pit"? Be prepared: Get soaked and then chilled by unrelenting wind, sunburn and windburn. Take plenty of water, food, toilet paper. Criminals and crazies: No jewelry, nothing nice. Take companion and mace. Get sick? Can't get off.
  • i really want to hop freights when i get older just as a fun adventure

i wouldnt know how to get back home though :(

  • you will always make it back home, I wouldn't worry to much about that. Besides thats what adventure is all about.

  • man this video gets me heart pumpin' something special

  • looks like you guys had a great time

  • cant really go wrong with freights

  • Respect.

  • riding suicide at 3:17 fuckin crazy hahah i send u guys respect for that!

  • Hey Wizehop, nice video.

At 1:25 ish, there's a clip of somebody hiding under the grates. Is that on a 48 or a 53? Can you hide there on all of them, or is that spot only on certain cars?

    Thanks

  • 53, ya you can hide under most - one person - provided your not on the break side.

  • @wizehop

Do you think maybe you can PM me a quick explanation to this? What do you mean break side?

  • you guys are doing something that you want to do! no matter if its illegal or unsafe or whatever, its fun and thats what matters:)

  • :) thats what it all comes down to in life

  • Scary semi-floorless intermodal cars!

    3:16 Damn nice picture!

  • thanks man!

  • hey wizehop, how do you know when a train is going to leave? what happens if u get caught doing this?

ps it looks like so much fun to do this. i would like to catch a train from the GTA area that would head out west.

  • always out west..whats wrong with the east ;) It really depends on your idea of fun, same rush as sky diving...at times....but can get quite rugged..so unless you like really ruffing it..either way drop me an email

  • How do you get food?

  • you bring it with you, or you get some when you get off..water is a bigger concern.

  • Yeah next year during summer break me and my friend plan to trainhop from Alabama to wherever the trains take us, We've got friends all over the U.S. so when we decide to go back we'll either take some trains back to alabama or fly back.

    Either way cool video.

  • Thats the trick, go where it takes you. Thats how I used to ride when I was younger, Now I have to be places so I don't have that option these days.....enjoy it.

  • im only a 15 but ive hopped on a few trains but only over night but im planning to do something after highschool with my bother we wanted to go from cali to canda, but makes some stops in oregen and washington

  • Nice, should be a good adventure, just make sure you don't cross the boarder on the train.

  • Wizehop, sorry I just got your message but basically I'm trying to catch out from KY all the way to Vancouver. Then from there fly to Alaska...work there for a bit. After that backpacking through the Philippines and all of SE Asia, riding the trans siberian from beijing to moscow, then using the Eurail for a month throughout all of Europe.

  • Nice one, I'm hitting up Asia, middle east and Africa next year. SE Asia is a sweet time for sure.

  • good luck

  • damn dude thats cool but stay away from north korea

  • btw, how illegal is train hopping anyways?

  • trespassing

  • @wizehop

oo, well ive been charged with worse i suppose, i just wasnt sure if train hoppin was illegal or not.

  • ya its illegal for sure but what happens really depends on who and where your caught. Some places may just ask you to leave, others could throw you in jail for a few days and give you a nice fine.

  • @wizehop

ooo, well there nobody around where i do it so i think im ight

  • ya just pay attention to whats going on around you at all times

  • you get caught, you get beaten half-dead. to get on, you should wait for a really slow train. to figure out where you're going, you should a.) obtain a train atlas and figure out which track goes where or b.) just find out when you get there.

  • @jordanr68

dude, hop the fast ones, its waaaaay more fun, just harder to get on. got tracks by my house, me and friends train hop as a way of trasnportation lol. effective acually

  • Love the video. Love the song. Love the lyrics in the song. I have watched this daily for the last few months. It's quite inspirational. I'm just a newbie looking to learn but I've been doing a lot of research. Hopefully I'll be educated enough to make it cross country...US or Canada on my trip around the world next May. Thanks for the video!

  • Have you ever done it in Toronto? I live near by, always wanted to train hop. Just not sure on where to get on? Dnd the precautions etc. And how do you know where the trains are heading? If you could give me any tips etc I would really appreciate it.

  • What are some safety tips?

  • you guys must not go that far, or do it that long. where's your gear?
