This song is brilliant, but this performance (being the first time it was played) is very rough around the edges. Mikey's drumming, especially, during the second chorus. But the song is absolutely fantastic, and I would actually like to see an electric version of this on TbK... especially the solo being played on guitar as opposed to the melody being vocalized. We shall see. I'm rather disappointed that this cut didn't make the first EP... probably my favourite TbK-related track so far.

I'll agree with this. Song for a Son has some bitchin' guitars. Absolutely awesome stuff. The drumming is mixed extremely low, and I guess that's for the best to highlight the guitars. No one's gonna replace Jimmy.

I love SP, but got some dissapointed with the last albums, (zeitgeist and american gothic). But i have downloaded the Spirits in the sky dvd, from the SP site, and its awsome, billy is bigger than before.

Man... I grew up on the pumpkins, learned to play guitar to gish through MCIS. This new stuff is disgusting to hear. Musically, I guess some of it is somewhat interesting, but melodically and lyrically its horrible.

I don't even comment on this little kid drummer cause SP died in 2000. To take anything seriously now is not worth breathing about. James, Jimmy and corgan brought the unique pumpkin sound together. Without these members don't harbor the thought of continuing SP. I thought billy was good in his solo stuff. Jimmy is at his best in the complex. SP 1989-2000 RIP

Well, it's hard to tell from one video, from one song where the sound quality is bad. As far as can be seen on this video, he's a good drummer, no more, no less. We can listen to Josh Freese or any of the old/new rock drummers out there (like Ilan Rubin, currently on tour with the Nine Inch Nails), and it's only after hearing Matt a bit more live and on an album that we can be sure that he's as good as the few "great ones". Of course, JC is hard to follow for any given drummer.
