  • i have been there its fun to see the horses

  • i understand why to sell your horse but that is only because i am selling mine but its becayse i got her and they had drugged her and we were told she was a "safe" horse and i am nott hat experienced but turns out she wasn't and needs a more expereinced rider so we are selling her but only to people we know

  • I know a lot of people will disagree with me but, when and IF you buy a horse it should be for the long haul. Now i know some people have to sell, or choose to sell. But when you get a horse, its a friendship, and a partner ship. I refuse to sell me horse just because of slaughter. I have a 27 year old Azteca gelding and hes not going anywhere. Until i know hes been put to rest, under my own eyes.

  • @Jensine2000018023 I could not agree with you more. Horses are not possessions to be bought and sold like items, they are long-term partners. They give you their all and why should they receive any less? That's great you have an old boy. I have a pony that I've owned for 8 and a half years, he's in his mid-late twenties as well, and he's never leaving.

  • What are the price ranges of the horses that go there ?!

  • It is sad what happens to SOME of the horses that go through New Holland. But people should know that a lot of good people go there to find a cheap horse to actually work with and ride. There are more good sellers and buyers there than there are kill buyers and horse abusers. And what I mean by good is that those people actually care what happens to there animals. I agree that what is allowed to go on there and what happens to some horses is sad but like I said, not all are bad.

  • i wish every horse and every animal had a home. so peop0le could stop having to build and run animal shelters.

  • Wow so many so beautiful I'd take em and how they end up there is unfortunate =/

  • Not all people who send their horses to New Holland are terrible people, My old thoroughbred gelding just ran through that sale this past week and I made sure that who got him was a good owner. He ended up being sold to an older couple as a companion horse for their grand children. I have bought horses from there and taken one or two before, and they have gotten good homes, mind you its very rare that I take a horse up there but i make sure they get a good home.

  • i bought the b/w paint horse at 0.17 she is amazing and i love her to death@!

  • Ugh...truly breaks my heart.

  • I hate to think of horses being killed too trust me I'm a mager horse lover and I have 2 on my farm but you have to think that all the other farm animals go through the same, thing and though it pains me to say it, but thankfully they don't make them go through a hard death or anything. And maybe some of those horses had been hirridly abused and it could be better for them to die then be abused all their life. Now don't think I'm saying it's right or anything, but it is hard to understand for us

  • @snowyhooves You are incorrect that horses go through the same thing as other farm animals and that they don't make horses go through a hard death or anything. Search here on YouTube for videos on "horse slaughter." Then, come tell us if you still hold your original beliefs.

  • @snowyhooves Truth? Search YouTube for

Observations and Opinions of a Horse Killer (Part 1)

"His initial comment was that our portrayal of the cruelty involved paled to reality."

This torturous journey for many horses starts here at New Holland.

  • @snowyhooves you are VERY false that they do not "go through a hard death or anything". These horses, especially those from New Holland (which I have been to MANY times as I live about 45 mins away) that are sold to slaughter or left to get on the trailers to head to Mexico or Canada: They are loaded onto double stack trailers (2 level) which are not intended for horses in the first place, not fed, watered, many break legs, die on the way to slaughter, and are then abused at the plant. CRUELTY.

  • Then tell me what will you do with all the old horses? Who can afford to feed them and house them to their dying day? They are very expensive to keep and/or you need a big piece of land. Some are crippled and can't be used. It is unfortunate, but not every one can be retired comfortably until death and then there are some horses that are just plain dangerous!

  • @pask54 I have seen many horses in the kill pens that are anywhere from age 2 to 15. yes there are older horses but I'm talking perfectly capable horses with health and riding backgrounds. Some even dead broke to pack kids around, others trained to be jumpers and low level barrel racers and team penners. YES there are occasionally old horses in there, but rarely do you see one crippled or useless. and there is no such thing as an untrainable horse...people are just forceful and lazy.

  • @pask54 You put them to sleep. There are resources out there to help you do so.

  • @pask54 Is this really so hard? What you do with old horses is tend to their needs until their time comes then help them pass by euthanizing them. At least that's what anyone with ethics and compassion does. On a retirement income I bought 2 old New Holland horses-used up and thrown out by the farmers they worked for- and shipped them here to TX. They are a blessing, wise and dignified. BTW, if you think most slaughtered horses are old, dangerous, and useless, you are ignoring the facts.

  • @Carole1849 bless you for saving the ones you did. <3

  • @pask54 Oh I totally understand. Like, especially when you get old, we will have to put you to death. Who wants to hang out with a grumpy old human? Not any one that i know!

  • I grew up here. These F-ing Amish people are NOT what tourists think they are. They abuse their animals - all of them, not just horses. If the horses and mules don't die on their farms, they end up here and most ultimately die. This place and these people associated with this place are the most disgusting, filthy, ignorant, selfish, nasty people in PA. These same people are puppy-millers. Makes me so mad. I can't stand paying my taxes to Lancaster County, PA.

  • God....im only adopting horses from rescues now...I know for sure what im going to do in my life now, im going to have the largest rescue in the U.S, i know its going to be hard....i cant stand this! Paints are my favorite, or any horse with a pinto color, seeing those horses brought tears to my eyes! and of course i love those other horses too!

  • I work on a farm called Sleepy Hollow in PA, thats where we rescue most of our ponies and horses from! Its so heartbreaking..... Ugh, makes my stomach turn. How arrogant of a species have we become to spat on the dedication and hardwork all these gentle souls have given to humans over the years. And this is how we repay them? Poor, gentle angels. Thank GOD for all the loving people who rescue the horses from these horrible auctions.

  • @MsHotpinkheels good for you! You help out so much by volunteering at a rescue farm. what's also sad is that about 95% of the horses that come through can be turned into great riding horses, I've even seen some turn into to fancy show horses and USEF winners!

  • @HoovesAndWings Absolutely! We have a farm full of wonderful horses from there. Some of ours do the pony parties, some give lessons, and some go to camp. (not that-thats fancy lol). But, I have seen some of them, like you said turn into wonderful show horses! We even took a little lamb from the discard pile, and one of the girls bottle raised him, he is the most gentle soul! <3 Thank you for bringing awareness to our poor equine being discarded at these terrible auctions!

  • @guazana1 (sorry I got your name wrong the first time!) There are plenty of livestock auction grounds and horse sale barns in Texas. Theres one where I live and its absolutely sad just how they treat the horses at the sale barn, they terrorize them, whipping them and shocking them through the chutes with cattle prods. I would never send any horse of mine to a sale barn/auction house if I could help it. Not to mention they could be shipped to slaughter in Mexico.

  • Pretty sad. I hope everyone has a chance to view my YouTube video and read my just-released novel, THE LAST GOOD HORSE, that deals with the subject of horse slaughter. My video (author interview) can be found by doing a YouTube search on my full name. Thanks... David Martin Anderson

  • beautiful horses who would want to hurt any animal that big and strong and take everything away from them

  • We have rescued so many from our local auction, but it's never enough. New Holland is typically the next stop. I wish folks would be responsible as far as seeing their horses and pets thru to the end of their lives.

  • @shadermann1102 I agree. props to you for rescuing the ones you did

  • Wow there are GORGEOUS horses there!!! why I cant imagine!?! dose anyone know of an auction lot like this one in texas or new mexico? A big dream of mine is to save some horses from a place like this but im to far from the New Holland or the Camelot auctions, which are as i can see the more popular ones for horse rescuers like me!

  • @guazana1 I'm sure you'll find one if you do some research. Camelot and New Holland are HIGH slaughter houses, thats why they are popular rescue locations.

  • nicely done. Thank you for sharing this so that more people can be aware of what these horses go through.

  • @vtalw thank you <3

  • Poor babies; makes me want to go give more love to the lesson horses I ride, because you really don't know when tragedy is going to strike and life starts to suck. Thanks Val. C=

  • This video brought tears. These horses do nothing wrong and could be in a cozy stall in a big barn rather than this. They deserve better, beautiful animals.

  • @CanterQueen820 i couldn't agree more, its very upsetting to go and see all of these loving and deserving horses and watch them get bought by killbuyers.

  • Poor things... I want to rescue them all. Thank you for posting this, val. <3

  • @Elusive210 wish i could. and of course.
