Very funny, lol. for those who don't know all iguanas do this, it doesn't matter if they are wild or already tame they all do this same thing. I've had at least 4 iguanas and know everything about them.
Lol people should be more careful, wild animals arent used to other creatures coming up to them randomly and stroking them or being nice. They are too used to being attacked or fighting over food so they can attack out of no where if it gets too weird for them. That wouldv'e been the awkwardest moment of his life! haha. Especially when it closed its eyes thinking the person 50x its size was gonna end his life or something. lmao..! animals.
Lol @ tame vs wild. Most birds and reptiles can be "tamed" within moments of contacting them. All you have to do is restrain them and then pet them until you feel their pulse drop to its resting point. At this point the animal will likely close its eyes.
@ettorejohn if you new the first thing about reptiles gay fag you woulld know im right but your just a stupid fucking internet troll with nothing better to do that to moan at the correct answers!
@Marko129 Hey Marko, I have a bearded dragon, and if I rub her anywhere she shuts her eyes and go to sleep or she pushes her head towards my hand if I stop rubbing, when I continue she stops pushing, but I have her since she was 7 weeks old, so maybe she likes it, and maybe this iguana too :D
@TheHeavyshooter If you think so kid, im honestly sick of how 70% of youtubers(of the youtube reptile community) are completely uneducated about reptile behaviours, if you want to think your dragon enjoys it go ahead do it, it mite like it, since it has being done since it was 7 weeks, but this is a FUCKING wild iguana! not all iguanas are a nut jobs some have more human tolerance than others but by personal experience of working with iguanas for 5 years i know the iguana is not "enjoying" that
Marko obviously you have a reptile book and you are pulling out all the fun facts you learned in your picture book but the thing is yes although you maybe right with your textbook answer 98% of the time there are some animals that like human contact....

Once while i was in st thomas, a wild iguana sat in my lap after i fed it leaves an flowers. It was so cool!!! The iguana was also a goliath. It was seriously huge.
I've got a rescue and he bit me, he bit through the protective glove, the towel and cracked right on through my fingernail. I've also been tail whipped so hard, it left bruises on my leg. He's not docile, but he's coming around and learning to trust me. They are not easy animals to care for especially if they've been rehomed.
heh, i love iguanas =D im gonna try to pet an iguana if i go somewhere like this. notice the first time how he goes like "HHHHHHH ohmygodohmygodohmygod.....wait a minute... this isnt so bad!"
me pussy i don`t scare for a iguana bite or wip tail u should come to costarrica and try touch a green green iguana or garobo spini tail iguana if a spini tail iguana bite you say good bye to your finger and besides i don`t think that adult iguana bite is the equivelant of a pinch
yeah meaby they see people all days and they are friendly but here in costarrica are very savage very agresives and the spiny tail is the worse very very agresive
im in south florida where they run from any person at the slightest glimpse......trust me, these animals are completely docile UNLESS U PISS THEM OFF, maybe what u did in costa rica angered them.....study up and next time they wont bite u
im agree with u the green iguana are docile but not teh spiny tailed please costarrica is a forest country many animals more than florida we the green iguana normali is not agresive but try with a spiny tails
This ig stood up and had the tail ready to whip and is shutting her eyes b/c she's annoyed by this woman. It hurried to get away from her and by seeing it go in that hole I would assume it was probably a gravid female.
You, amongst a few other people here, are a jackass. This animal did not close it's eyes in fear. if it was reacting fearfully it would have done much more than raise it's body. It would have popped the shit out of her with it's tail. They close their eyes when you pet them as such, because they enjoy it just like most other domesticated animals. it has probably lived around humans it's entire life and has no fear of curious tourists like this.
Excuse me? I am a jackass? I've had experience w/these UNDOMESTICATED WILD animals my whole life. Reptiles (I'm sorry) do not like the affection that domesticated house pets do (hence the reason for the classification of domesticated) which obviously this was a wild outside animal. The problem is that you think b/c you have a snake on your channel you are an expert. Iguanas are a whole different breed of their own. I KNOW Green Iguanas.
i live in florida, iguanas are everywhere, i've raised iguanas for 10 years. they close their eyes both out of enjoyment and the fact that you are petting it near its head. its not annoyed or afraid of her, it just doesnt want an accidental eye poke
They do it both when they are content and/or annoyed ~ like they don't want to see you. Mostly when they are content, they will close the eye closest to you (b/c they trust you) but will leave the other open to stay alert for predators. (They are wild animals, it's their instinct.) I'm 34 and have been around these guys since I was 9 years old. My baby Dino will be 10 in the fall. I have 25 years of experience with multiple igs having worked with green ig rescues.
And I didn't say this ig feared her, I said she annoyed her. That is why they shut their eyes. If it was content it would've left one eye open and shut the one closest to the woman, not both. Do your research or spend 9 years w/them. You might learn something.
That is so not a wild animal. I don't even care if he has a burrow outside, maybe he is your outside pet. But i have over 30 lizards and i know what wild captured animals are like and unless you have spent a lot of time with him before this he would never in a million years be that relaxed. I'm not saying he wouldn't let you pet him after a little work or anything.
are you in pueto rico there? looks like a cuban rock iguana they have been established on that island......those guys actually make much better pets than green iguanas but require much more room and must be housed outdoors
Beautifull, This fellow is a nice one.... looking forward to have one in my room... but i still have to study a lot about them to be prepaired, because i like iguanas and i don't want to hurt them :D
he's not wild or he would have tried to whip you with his tail, and when both eyes are closed the iguana is most likely enjoying it but if only one eye is closed it kinda like is saying "haha i can't see you:p"
That is a Cuban Rock Iguana (Cyclura nubila nubila) not a green iguana. If it were a green iguana it would whip the hell out of that lady and claw her eyes out. Cyclura are much more personable and a lot less ornery than green iguanas. Choose an island in the Caribbean and these will often walk up to you and beg for food.
It looks wild to me, it was about to whip her but she stroked its neck. Then he was like ohh that feels nice and then he went inside his HOLE IN THE GROUND!! Seriously why would someone let their 'Pet' burrow in the ground.. Its obviously wild.
I love the rock iguana family, they are so interesting but also quite endangered. I am not surprised this animal let you pet it though, and for everybody who says it wasn't wild it was. You can tell its wild when the lady approached it and it puffed out trying to make itself look bigger. As i said earlier this does not surprise me as rock iguanas are very docile and can become quite tamed and inquisitive with humans and there surroundings.
I find it hard to believe that iguana was wild. My guess would be it was tamed, raised by people and it just roams the property. But hey what do I know. I've only been an Iguana owner for 2 days
I mis understood your comment. thought U where saying her petting the Iggy was getting wierd (like some ass holes thinking she was like molesting it) I love iguanas I have 2
ah hes so calm... its like he's standing there letting you pet him, like he's just trying to be nice to you.he understand the human need for reptile interaction so he's doing his duty and providing it. (lol*jokes)
omg! that lizzy is feelin the love! i saw iguanas lie that in a marina in mw=exico but whenever anyone got within 3 feet from them they ran away into the rocks
Holy crap your lucky you didn't get bitten or whipped xD! The reason its standing up like that and closing its eyes isn't because it likes what your doing, its because its being defensive xD; none the less a kick ass looking iggy D:
Very funny, lol. for those who don't know all iguanas do this, it doesn't matter if they are wild or already tame they all do this same thing. I've had at least 4 iguanas and know everything about them.

I thought if iguanas close their eyes like that it means that they are stressed =/

their just trying to tune you out or ignore you when they do that

Iguanas are generally very docile. Besides, this was filmed at a resort, so no doubt it was used to humans by then.

Holy crap your lucky you didn't get bitten or whipped xD! The reason its standing up like that and closing its eyes isn't because it likes what your doing, its because its being defensive xD; none the less a kick ass looking iggy D:
