Me too, This actually went to number one in the Lux charts 1970, I still have the vinyl , on the album the version is differen't , the single was better.
Very cool song...it's got enough of the 'dark hippy' and prog vibe to elevate it from run of the mill heavy blues, but it doesn't get bogged down in pretentious nonsense either.
Never even heard of them before today...thanks yet again, darublues \,,/
Single version of this is very different. The record companies didn't go in for anything but the standard 2.30 length of record unless you were Dylan or equivalent. Never saw them in concert but as others have said got a lot of pleasure listening to cutting edge technology "Tranny radio" under the pillow. First heard Thin Lizzy "Whisky in the Jar" the same way. Glory days!!!!
gawd yes me too - I remember struggling to keep my radio tuned to 208 as it seemed to be the only place you could hear this, even if it was through the usual wall of interference. First time I've heard this full version.
OMG @ Chrisharo...I did the same thing I used to bring the transistor to bed, listen to it under the sheets, and I can remember this song sooo well..and I can recall the hourly power play at that time..
Hope I don't sound like a wanker, but I have an original Penny Farthing vinyl single of this song, mono, 1971 b/w Zangwill. I think I first heard it on Radio Luxembourg on a small transistor radio under my pillow - great song!

This is great, but I'd love to hear the single version again. On Penny Farthing records, I believe it was.
