If you restored your bike, regardless of make, you SHOULD be proud. I think it's silly that so many guys (harley guys too) are so proud of their bikes when all they did was BUY IT.

I didn't pay 30 grand for either my 83 FLH or my 73 FL. I paid $2500 for each and then went through the entire bike, every nut & bolt.

THAT is pride......something you can only get by doing it yourself.

I have a 1981 GS 750 L. Bought it for 250, it was in pieces and in boxes. I spent 400 on that bike, I torn it down to the last bolt, painted and fixed everything needed. Now it's done, for only 650$. And I did the same thing with my 1982 Yamaha Seca XS400, bought it for 100$ spent on it 700$, I had a new bike. Am I proud? no, I'm rather happy that these bikes work, and I spend more time riding them then cleaning

Enjoy your 1930's designed engine putting out 68 Horsepower. Perhaps you should pull your head out of your ass and look at what Yamaha designed and has put on their Stratoliner, Roadliner and Raider. It even comes with an extra 2 valves per cylinder. Not to mention it puts out close to 100hp and 120ftLbs of torque. Chances are it will outlive a HD engine 2 fold.

As much as I like the Fury, Honda has a bit of price gouging going on themselves here. 13 grand for a bike? I've seen some damn nice compact cars that didn't have that much. And in fairness to Harley, the Fury is only 4 grand less than the Rocker which many people think is as nice a machine or better. Also, Harley must have something going for them, because all the other manufacturers are trying as hard as they can to make bikes that look and sound like a Harley.

I wasn't trying to get into the age old debate of Harley's versus metric bikes as I am well aware of the quality of Japanese bikes. I was only saying that the Japanese manufacturers get plenty of cash for their bikes even if they are less than what Harley charges, and that Harley must have something going on because the Japanese are making bikes that resemble Harley's more and more.

The only thing that Harleys are better than Hondas is the badge. But as far as performance, reliability and quality is concerned, I don't think so.

Harleys will always be inferior in reliability and performance category, but on the sound part... It's just for speakers and musical instruments.

I also think it's safe to say that a lot of people who buy metric bikes would love to have that Harley sound. I know that's true because all you have to do is look at any number of videos on this very site to see how many of those people are trying to get that very sound. Otherwise they would just leave the stock pipes alone right?

Well a couple things... Harley did not "invent" the loud pipe thing... Harleys are quiet off the production floor too! They have to be its the law EPA. Loud pipes save lives but it all depends how loud?? Pipes also create performance ait/fuel ratio! So don't believe pipe = harley! Ride like you stole it!

Not impressed. Doesn't look any better than a raked C with a stretched tank. To me, sound is kinda typical of factory bikes. Driving around industrial site doesn't make it any cooler. If I want chopper look, I'll buy custom. Not gonna trade in my VTX, that's for sure. I'd ride it if you gave me one though.
