Paying around 27 million for the panda's was an incredibly stupid move, there is no way in hell that they were going to profit out of it, there isn't enough people to actually build that money back up again, it's only Adelaide.
It is supposed to bee the duty of zoos to educate the public on the zoological world, it seems very difficult to do so when the animals are living in such outdated enclosures. I also hope that the money generated from this exhibit will be used to improve the quality of life for other animals in the zoo.
@amelitaz I couldn't agree more. I love how much effort and planning has gone into this exhibit, but I would love it more if the same care and consideration was given to the other animals in the zoo. Particularly in the case of the smaller, less popular animals that always seem to be overlooked simply because they are not popular with the public.
It seems unjust that the Adelaide Zoo with its limited space didn't increase the size nor improve out of date enclosures like the Persian Leopards before this project was undertaken.
Hopefully the Pandas will generate enough money for the Zoo that other animals will benefit.

We are planning a trip down to Adelaide to see the pandas next year. Seeing real pandas will be a once in a life time event.
