It's Meaning Szatmár(the name of the district)+németi(német is meaning germanic ---> beacuse in the past there were live germans) and now the romanian have stolen the name, but they were very insidious, beacuse from the hungarian Szatmar they make Satu Mare. They are very similar but satu mare is meaning in romanian language: large village.

I bet they felt pretty big entering Transylvania after Hitler forced every Romanian soldier to leave.
I bet also they felt really big when they murdered civilians at Ip and Treznea.

Cluj is from hungarian language:
Cluj = Kluzs ---> Klozs ---> Kolozs + vár
But the most of the citys name in Erdély it's name is from hungarian.
Like Oradea = Varadea(in romanian) = Nagy+Várad
