If you're getting rid of the bow by taking a little off both end, then getting it flat, all you are doing is creating an index point (the new flat board you just made) to take it to the next step: the planer -- because you now need to get the thickness of the board uniform.
orlandfriend has a good point. I need to joint it first to get it flat and then plane it. When I was planing it was still warped.
Also, this guy is right. I put a pickle in my pocket and I still could not use it as a thicknesser. Now what do I do with all those pickles??
