Well it does have a 2000 year old history after all.
Originally, it spread from 70 followers of Jesus and until it became the majority in the western world. There were no military Christian soldiers to cause this expansion because not one single nation was Christian at that time. The great expansion was by word of mouth, from person to person, peacefully.
To give it a fair trial, simply try watching EWTN TV :).
Of course it is. It is a feeble grasp at spirituality that denies the realities of the physical world of flesh and individual determination & expression. What else would you expect from a group of people who embrace circumcising babies.
Folks, I would suggest you all please try watching EWTN a little bit to see for yourselves what catholics believe and decide for yourself about their church. As for the circumcision controversy, perhaps a good starting place is the circumcision articles and forums about their impartiality at wikipedia.
I would like to add that I have felt more genuine Christian love from your books, letters, and videos, over the years, than I have experienced in most churches I have visited. Wendy.
This is an amazing conversation! I understand this "tragic mistake", of feeling unfit in your present situation to pray to Jesus. I have had that feeling, when you feel far from God, or people tell you you are far from God, it is not true.
Thanks for your comment. I think we must never let anyone else convince us that we cannot talk to God. We must strive never to let anyone stand between Jesus Christ and his children. So many Christians have been hurt by other Christians and it is tragic that they move away from the Lord at the Top. Thanks again, Anne.
That is just what I was hoping to express. I have been hurt by other Christians, at times.
I went into the church with love in my heart, good intentions, and full of faith. It would break my heart when they would judge me, based on certain personality characteristics, or, even harder to accept, based on my lack of knowledge of church traditions and protocol.I turned away, feeling I had made a fool of myself.
Brilliant. I wasn't brought up Christian in any way but I did want to be in the Beat Generation :) Keep kicking butt, Anne!

Once she exhausts herself trying to insert her sensuality & passion into the shallow christian myth she will come back to reality. Yes Anne, reality.

Is it really all that shallow?
