  • MUSIC!!!!! Oh boy,it's so good to hear this again especially with Don Drummond rocking the trombone!! This is taking me way way back!! MUSIC UP YUSELF!!!!

  • The immortal Don Drummond on trombone!!!!! priceless

  • Great voice, GREAT!

  • sssssssssssssssska

  • 1963 top of the pops with a bullet, according to Keith Richards in his bio, LIFE.

  • gooooood (lord), this is goooooood (great)!!!

  • めっちゃテンション上がるw

  • Very simply put, this song makes me shuffle subtly side to side, sway my shoulders, and bob my head as I'm washing the dishes, or reading, doing homework, or balancing my checkbook. Songs like this make me wish Youtube had an auto-repeat feature. It's just a great, casual, fun song.

  • sounds awesome!! just like it should. authentic, none of that over-engineered sound processing - thank you :)

  • Keith Richards rates this in his book LIFE. He knew Hinds cos he was living in Steer Town in Jamaica.

  • yeaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thumbs up is the only words you know for certain are 'carry go bring come' and 'jezebel'

  • : )

  • Slightly crappy sound quality? Hell no. This is fresh as hell. First-wave ska is supposed to sound like it was recorded in someone's bathroom.

  • this song plays in the background during the following scene from Last Days of Disco: look up "last days of disco" and "to thine own self be true."

  • Pauline Black did an honour to this great song with her version, have to say. Even though the original usually (also in this case) is the better one

  • 7 Jezebels clicked the dislike button.

  • I love this tune. Nice nice post!!!!

  • this is some good ass shit

  • I like this!

  • I feel a paradox, roots reggae and dub music paved way for ska.

Skin heads and ska.. the BNP.... its crazy.

    One love, brothers & sisters.

  • @Xoxocube why you say that, man? if you say that, it's clear you just don't know who were the original skinheads and the mods, 'cause you grew up with the medias washing your mind about that, convincing you that SKINHEAD=racist, far right. That's not true, my friend: skinhead was, OVERALL, adopting and idolizing BLACK attitude, BLACK style, BLACK music...

Study a little and document yourselves, don't let them wash your mind, I say that with all love and respect of the world.

    :-)

  • @81gianc

Your entirely right... i dont know. I should read a bit.

    LOve and Respect!

  • @Xoxocube Actually Ska paved the way for Rocksteady and Reggae...then good ol' Dub.

  • @DubstructorMusic

    Its alll family :)

  • Timeless!

  • Smoke Herb and love the music, SKA/Rocksteady/MODSKA/Reggae!

  • Better to seek a home in Mount Zion High

Instead of keeping oppression upon an inocent man

But time will tell on you, you old jezebel

How long shall the wicked reign over my people.........

th th thaa, th th thuur thu thu thu thu thaaa!

thu thu thuur thu thu thur thau................

  • ssshhhhhhhhhhh... I'm skanking..

  • big tune!!!!

  • 'Better to seek a home in Mount Zion High

Instead of heaping opression upon the innocent one

And time will tell on you, you old jezebel,

How long shall the wickid reign over my people'

  • This carry go bring come, my dear, brings misery

This carry go bring come, my dear, brings misery

You're going from town to town making disturbances

It's time you stopped doing those things, you old Jezebel

The meek shall inherit this Earth, you old Jezebel

It needs no light to see you're making disturbances

  • @ Z1cky ..

Nice attempt, but the Actual Lyrics are...

(please) carry go bring come, my (Gear), (bring) misery

This carry go bring come, my dear, (bring) misery

You're going from (Home to Home) making disturbances

It's time you stopped doing those things, you old Jezebel

The meek shall inherit this Earth, you old Jezebel

Excellent when Justine did it....brilliant when the Selecter did it!

  • @cubanbrown

Rare? This is one of the biggest hits during the ska era.... It's on the original trojan box set. There is an album named after it plus at least one compilation. Altho the rocksteady cut is rare originally released on the sure shot label.

  • I just love this song ... and the Rocksteady version of this is great too.
