  • Well done sir.

  • Bababooey! Bababooey! Howard Stern's penis! Bababooey!

  • cant you just freaking tell the fret numbers?

  • @theguitargurl246 the pentatonic shape starts at the 5th fret - look on the fretboard, you can't read tabs for ever :)

  • can you move that lick up and down the scale?

  • watching this makes me miss my fucking guitar

  • 'cus learning the blues scale and messing around yourself is so bloody difficult...?

  • who took a dump in the urinal, mkay?!?

  • This is really well explained. I especially like that you cleared your pinky for better viewing; this is rarely done. Thank you !

  • Thanks!

  • I am determined to play this as fast as he is!!!

  • When he says a penitonic I'm going to guess there's more can someone tell me what they are and can you play them anywhere on the neck

  • he sucks I would take him to school I need to put some posts up

  • thanx so much this realy help God bless u!!

  • OMG YOU SOUND LIKE MR. MACKEY FROM SOUTH PARK! Mmmmmk

  • I found a slideshow of a song with a 2 minute guitar solo in the middle. It has some really cool melodic phrases. Its by Curtis Mitchell and the name of the song is "Play'n Rock'n Roll". It is none of the shredding crapp!

  • man why dont they just play clean the at the end tell ya what the settings are on the amp ie distortion etc PLUS,,,,,,, WHY DONT YA PICK UP A CHEAPIE AND PLAY? LIKE WHAT THE REST OF US HAVE???????

  • Thank you so much these licks are sooo fun to mess around with thankyou for widening my musical vocabulary if you will.

  • Damnnn..... thanks alott helped soo much !! (Y)

  • okeeey Hahahaahahahahhahaha

  • how come my guitar sounds nothing like that?

  • @FLpolo because you need a good collection of guitar pedals or better yet an awesome amp.

  • @JoxTraex when you say pedals we're talking about picks right? if so i didn't know they made that much of diffrence in making sounds, or amps either. do they have different styles of strings that make different sounds because thats was my only explaination to why most guitars sound different than mine. its sounds kinda plain, rich in tune though like a smooth jazz guitar.

  • @FLpolo Specifically all of them have an impact on how the guitar sounds and plays, like for instance tube amp has a far different tone than a solid state amp. Picks also impact the sound too, if its light and flimsy you'll hear it slip, if its thin and heavy, you won't hear it too much. Its all about experimentation and finding what one likes and then going with that. Tone is all about experimentation.

  • @JoxTraex appreciate the knowledge

  • hmmmm. guitar riffs on my channel

  • @1:27 you don't even bend the string

  • appreciate........................

  • appreciate itt meen

  • im learning my self too and this is grate.. it really opens my riifs so much

  • dam..so nice..

  • Good lesson for the basics - a good groundsetting for soloing.

    And now practise practise practise

  • @nickgreeen I do believe "Practice" is spelt P-R-A-C-T-I-C-E. Not to be an ass or anything.

  • @fawazie45 practice has hyphen's in between each letter?

  • @rmarino4471 That's how they taught me in english...lol

  • what the hell is this i am 15 and can play the leads of children of bodom((((fuckin 5 years practice)0what the hell is it !!!!!!!!!!haha suckers ....shaneryan

  • @99rains The thing is; not everyone is as good as you say you are. Everyone plays guitar at different levels, and has different levels of experience. This is obviously for beginners, so why are you even watching/commenting on this? And i'll think you'll find, Mr 'Children Of Bodom', that it's an A Minor Pentatonic scale. Wanker.

  • hmm. when you play it fast, just be aware that you don't bend it ;)

  • I cant play lead after 4 yrs of playing guitar

  • Yeah this is a good practice, sounds awesome once you nail it fast

  • ITS EASY MMKAY

  • how is this gonna help me make riffs?

  • @Ziggyflavel1 riffs are made out of theese scales many riffs used in rock, hard rock and metal and that kinda stuff and first of all blues. are made from scales like this blues scale...

  • @Ziggyflavel1 sorry for the answer it was to another video :D

  • very good

  • guys can u check out my guitar riffs?? i think u guys might like them

    i would really appreciate it.

  • It's hard to see with his giant fingers

  • im a beginner.. can u guys tell me how to get this kind of sound on my guitar... i got this gadget "metal zone" only.. but i cant get this type of sound.. plus i cant practice on my own without the irritating distortion sound each time i didnt strum anything.. help perhaps?

  • What kind of amplifier and guitar do you have?

  • It is just as important to learn how to keep the guitar quiet as it is to make sounds. Try working on chromatic scales (every note, every half step) up and back to work on laying the fingers down and pulling them up and getting a clean sound each time. Relax your fingers and try to keep the stress in your wrist down. You don't want to be tense or using muscles that should not be involved. You will wear yourself out and get frustrated. Make sure you warm up with some really simple stuff.

  • 4 guitar backing tracks, chek out jankaja2

  • he says mmk like the teacher on south park lol

  • he does lol

  • @McBoothie94 pahahahaa so random its halarious ur so right!

  • @McBoothie94 ,,,,,he does thats funny! But I used this riff ....in my bands origanal song. when it came to the solo I used it and it was awesome(I was brought into a 3 member band as a 4th member so coming up with leads was dumped on me). The guys in my band are like where did you gt that from? Before I could answer the drummer said "off you-tube I bet." lol mb

  • mmmkay

  • Dont be givin ur friends aids... MMKAY?

  • haha ^^

  • dam ur pinky is as big as my middle finger

  • thats how full on guitarist he is XD

  • at the beginning some of it sounded like Jump In The Fire by Metallica

  • The solo in the beginning right?

  • same pattern except in G minor pentatonic

  • sopmetime tell me what he ment by

"I added a couple of passing tones?"

  • passing notes mean they aren't in the minor pentatonic but you 'pass by' them as you go between pentatonic notes. for example the blue note, or notes in the minor scale.

  • Also passing tones are notes you hit as you play but you never stop on them. They may actually be out of the key in which you are playing and may sound aweful if you stop on them. They may sound good but they are brief and then you quickly go on to a note that is actually in the key.

I could be wrong and if anybody knows better please let me know. I am learning myself.

  • @jackcarpentersax I thought passing tones were like ladders to the note you ultimatly were aimimg for .Instead of hitting 5 or 6 precise notes< You hit the next note in the scale on the way up or down . [always in key] Know what I mean? Before I learned riffs note for note. I did that all the time.. I mean it still sounds good and you ARE filling space in the song.

  • why would you need tabs for this. he playes it so slow. sound it out. it just like learining your a b c's

  • UBA NOOB lolz

  • it's easy .. mkay? :))

  • I'm teling you,... As basic as this is, i think i was destined to play the fucking triangle....

  • lmfao

    the electric triangle!

  • haha thats hardcore

  • haha dude, cmon! keep it up!!! u can do whatever u want :) just keep practicing

  • lmao

  • keep practicing u will get better.

  • @wishywashy2016 atta way man

  • @wishywashy2016 dont be silly, learning the guitar isn't as hard as people want you to think. Its a hard thing to teach but if you really put the time in and have the right people to teach you you can learn alot in a couple of months

  • @wheredoyougetoff1 how would you no do you play

  • @demonnartou I play, and he's absolutely right. If you're dedicated and keep practicing then you'll get better.

  • Comment removed

  • @wishywashy2016 Me too man. Let's start a really rocking Triangle Band

  • @wishywashy2016 lol same i cant break out of blues style WTF i cant play any other style its killing me lol

  • @ht448 Lol did you learn by playing the blues scale or pentatonic minor scale?, I know how frustrating that is.

  • what i need to do that my guitar make sounds like this?

  • mmmmkay! ;-)

  • lmao yes he does say mmmmkay

  • drugs are bad...mmmmkay. lead guitar is good....mmmkay

  • Did I just hear him say m-kay at 3:12 ?

  • nice

  • Practice practice practice!

Never put the dang thing down...ever!

Read, surff, eat and shit with that guitar in your hands. Hell fuck with in it your hands, if the chick don't like it, she can wait :-)

Become it. Let it become you.

  • Best advice for becoming a good guitarist. :) This probably sounds gross, but I always take my guitar to the bathroom with me. It beats the hell out of a newspaper but sometimes I'll forget what I went in there to do as I get too carried away with my toilet jams. :P

  • Tcchh...

  • I wish I can do that, but if I brought my six string bass in there, the head would hit the counter, haha.

  • Yeaah, my friend does that too. I confess that I feel like doing the same, but the shit would wind up hitting the guitar, because it usually hits the wall :S

  • @PilotDoofy i always do that XD but im having problems in fitting my drums in my bathroom ROFL haha

  • @PilotDoofy I should try that

  • @PilotDoofy dude there's nothing gross about that... i do the same thing lolz... and i get carried away too...

  • @PilotDoofy i do the same thing i take my guitar to the bathroom too...

  • @PilotDoofy You're my hero LOL.

  • @PilotDoofy omg, me too! only I play the bass exclusively, it gets tough, cause I have a small washroom >.> I end up having it nearly vertical >.<

  • @PilotDoofy i do that all the time my parents laugh at me when i come out

  • @PilotDoofy Wow... Never heard someone doing that besides me...

Suddenly, I'm don't feel so weird anymore. XD

  • @PilotDoofy As much of a good idea that is...I don't think I'd personally ever wanna play your guitar. ^^

  • Rock on, good people !!

  • Nice. Well taught.

  • mkay^^

  • also, i've been playing guitar for a long time...still don't get how you move your fingers so fast

  • are all the guitars put through a distortion sound effect? jsut checking

  • At 3.24 he sounded like Mr. Garrison from South park!

  • realy cool man didnt know tis stuff before thnkz:)

  • Look! To make your riff!

You should find out the rhythm first! Meaning the chords! Where you can play the chords with the riff... But the riff wasn't made yet, but then after getting the rhythm... Like if the chords are Eminor chord 3x, then A chord, then repeat... then you can create a riff with the scales.

  • mmkay

  • Lol 1st lick is included in fade to black final solo. Just a quick thought that came thru my mind : P

  • Why are these called LICKS??

    does anybody know?

  • lick-slang used by rockers

  • Just the name it's been developed over the years.

  • Licks are played during solos....

Riffs are played with rhythm, but as a part as the rhythm....

  • Probably because of kiss. You know how he played the guitar with his tongue...? JK

  • IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT FRET ONE STARTS ON.THIS IS A MOVABLE RIFF.(Just like a barre chord.) START OUT ON A-M RESOLVE ON ROOT ,OR 11th NOTE.THEN MOVE THE SAME RIFF TO SAY Bm (or whatever). IT'S CALLED "SETUP AND RESOLUTION.

  • lol what fret is it

  • He said it was a-minor so it is the 5th fret on the E string.

  • his other vids are better though :/ if any of u can do better just make your own tuts instead of criticizing here U_U

besides, this vid is meant to give the basic ideas for a riff so u can work out your own stuff and come up with something original and creative....this vid is not meant for total beginners ffs

  • this is lick building not riff building...

  • man you are right. He is not showing what to pratcise but he is practising himself...this is so rude...

  • he sounds pissed

  • :O !

  • The stuff at 1:12 is in the last solo in Fade to Black.

  • awesome

  • Shit.

  • how do u that at 0:27
