In response to Rico's question of 'how do you teach these concepts to different cultures', I believe one very effective way is through the use of pictures. Icons in particular can be used to illustrate concepts, and leave space for interpretation - this needs to be done because people need to find there own answers, to their own circumstance. It's about empowerment.
