@RaynorX I loved Avatar, but District 9 was definitely a lot more original plotwise (in terms of visuals and effects, Avatar was better of course). 

I felt a lot of sympathy for Neytiri (mostly because Zoe Saldana is such a great actress), but I identified with Wikus more than almost any film character. He was human. He wasn't evil, he just made mistakes and stupid decisions. I hated him one moment and cheered him on the next.

For example the alien movies. All he does is capture people and infect them. In E.T. the alien wants to go home. This movie takes both of those and puts them together into District Fucking 9. people need to get it through there heads that what they used in the movie were NOT SPECIAL EFFECTS, they are what we call visual effects (VFX), digital and 3D compositing techniques etc.

a special effect is a guy spraying a fire extenguisher on set to simulate smoke, very primitive technique, a visual effect takes the processing power of computers.

It had a really good story but lots of action, but all paced so well you didnt get bored ( like in the watchmen where it had good action but wasnt paced well so there were parts where you got bored) but they still had a really good, emotionally gripping story (unlike transformers 2).
