  • hi edna, what kind of food coloring can i use to color the gumpaste? ...

will it feel different if i use liquid food coloring?

  • @Kino1124 Yes, is bes to use gel or liqui gel...too liquid will change the texture in the gumpaste.

  • Hi Edna! You are fabulous, thanks for sharing your knowledge! I'd like to know what that board that you are using to roll out your gumpaste is made of - the little board right in front of you. Marble? Silicone?

  • @CgyCrazyCakes It's made from corian. Its in my website under Gumpaste tools on the Store. You can see it closer

  • hi Edna is gum paste the same as fondant?

  • @MyAlma81 no, fondant is to cover cakes, gumpaste is for flowers and delicate pieces

  • L Chefologist St Lawrence here.

Thanks for all the cool vids. They really help me alot Edna.

    Love them.

  • Hello Edna, your flowers look amazing. I tried to find all indegrients for Gum Paste but I have huge trouble finding Tylose Powder. May I ask where you get yours from?

  • @SaSiDu I am seeling it now in my website. I use to buy it locally

  • @951128AR You can bake the cake a week earlier but I wouldn't finish it until the day before. The most would be 2 days. The gumpaste flowers can be done months in advanced and after they are fully dry over a week in an open space you can store them in a dry place in a dry box/

  • @951128AR After you make the flowers, you never put them in the fridge. The stay out in a dry place. They dont like moisture.

  • Another question. What is the brand of metal cutters that you show at the beginning of this video?

    Thanks again.

  • Hello Edna, I love your work. I recently purchased from your store the ball tools set to make roses and I have a question. How do I to make cones for the roses always the same size?

Thank you and sorry my english.

    Marcelo

  • @SuperEvita77 Saludos!!

GARCIAS

  • @nolb2525 In my website, The link is on the video. It wont let me write it here

  • The five petal cutter. That's my favorite!

    Edna :)

  • i love this rose cutters, i have been searching for the in the supermakerts, where do you think i can get them...thanks

  • Usuallu they are not found in supermarkets. I have a lady who sold it to me. I need to call her to get some for my website.

    Edna :)

  • HI Edna! congrats, Ive seen you videos and cant wait to do my first decorated cake.

one question; Whats the different btwn the foundnt and the gumpaste ?

    Thanx! :o)

  • Gumpaste is more elastic, more for delicate details. Fondant is used more for covering the cake.

    Edna :)

  • Thank u so much for answering me so fast!

    Huge fan from Colombia!

    :o)

  • aww thanks..:)

    Edna

  • Can I color my rose after I make it? I spent soooo much time coloring the gumpaste beforehand, that when I started working w/ it started drying on me. Can I use petal dust or luster dust to color it? I have also seen that some people use nontoxic chalk to color it but, I need burgandy...so, I think that would be hard to find.

  • Yes you can, but if you want the center darker, at least do the center before. Is more difficult after is fully finish, but then again, is not impossible.

    Edna :)

  • My gumpaste keeps drying and cracking................I put shortening on my hands and knead into the gumpaste but when I roll it out it still seems to crack easily and come apart. Am I doing something wrong?

  • You have to work fast for it not to dry. But sometimes after is been over worked too many times it starts doing the same. Sometimes a little bit of fondant will fix it. But if not use a new piece of gumpaste. I work with small pieces so this doesnt happen.

    Edna :)

  • THANX!

  • What kind and # of wire do i need? Do I just stick them down into the cake? Will they go on the sides of the cake without falling down?

  • I use cake wire. Usually cover in like a fabric. Needs to be a strong one depending on how big your flower is.

I used a #20, but this can change depending on the company you use. I put a dab of buttercrcream to hold it in place. And you can cover the wire with either a straw or white chocolate..

    Edna :)

  • Could I use toothpicks instead of the wire?

  • Yes, but make sure the centers are completel dried, and keep in mind they tend to come out easier out ot the toothpick.

    Edna :)

  • im making gumpaste roses and I was wondering if I could make leaves out of buttercream icing? Or if they would look better with gumpaste leaves. Don't want them to look weird!

  • You could if you are in a bind. But after you do them in gumpaste you fall in love with them.

    Edna :)

  • You are a really hot baker who creates gorgeous cakes. (:

  • Can I put gumpaste flowers on a buttercream wedding cake? or do i need to make the buttercream flowers?

  • Yes you can put gumpaste flowers in buttercream

    Edna :)

  • Does that website "global sugar" have good quality cake pans? Thank you for giving me the website!

  • Check Fat Daddios cake pans..they are really good.

    Edna :)

  • whats the smallest size of 5 petal cutter?

  • Go to global sugar art website, they have some there.

    Edna :)

  • what sizes r the 5 petal cutters?

  • It really depends on how big you want the roses to be.

    Edna :)

  • do u have a video on making leaves to go with the flowers? R there leave cutters that I could buy?

  • Not at the moment..Ill keep in mind

    Edna :)

  • So the gumpaste is easier to work with then? Im doing a wedding cake for a lady and she wants burgandy roses on it. Im kinda nervous about it...it's my first really big cake order! Im gonna try the gp roses and hope they look as beautiful as yours do.

  • Oh please..try and do your flowers in gumpaste, they are so much better than in fondant.

    Edna :)

  • I've never worked with gumpaste before......is it better for making flowers? I usually use mm fondant to make roses. There not as pretty as your though! Your a great teacher!

  • Is so much better to do flowers with gumpaste than with fondant. Is a huge difference!

    Edna:)

  • You can buy the wire in globalsugarart.. Sorry I didnt reply earlier, Youtube didnt show this coment or email me about it!

    Edna :)

  • You can eat this right? do you also make flowers out of sugar or is it the same thing as gum paste?

  • Gumpaste is made out of sugar, yet I never had the desire to eat one.

    Edna :)
