Liz did let herself go though in her early 30's for a time. Marilyn's weight fluctuated too but she was always able to maintain it at a healthy attractive weight. It's true that Marilyn looked a lot different without makeup on. But I don't think I've honestly ever seen Elizabeth without makeup, and it was always that heavy eyeliner and eye shadow. People say Elizabeth was more natural, but she admitted herself that she eventually had a chin tuck, and sources say she had the same nose surgeon as Marilyn. So there ya go. Both are still so beautiful though.

Thank you for hearing me out. Liz is an exceptional beauty, but it's somewhat marred by a shrill & often abrasive personality. Also, I think Jean Simmons had very similar facial features to her in the 1950s.
I don't believe Marilyn's beauty is that easy to duplicate. Many women copy her, now & when she was alive, but they all end up looking like caricatures of her or even like drag queens. So many imitators, yet none come close to approximating her charisma or luminosity--she's one of a kind.
It's funny, I don't ever remember Liz Taylor being shrill or abrasive, instead I rather recall her being softspoken and rather shy, not to mention an extremely charitable individual who donated to many worthwhile causes. Jean Simmons, indeed was very beautiful and similar in the sense of dark hair and light eyes, goodness there were so many of them but Liz stood out for the most part..and could never be replicated. Marilyn on the other hand was and many with much success, RuPaul for instance.
RuPaul? Now you're being ridiculous. He & Marilyn have never been linked as similar. You're the first & only person who has ever made such a comment. Have you never read a Liz bio? Her own friends have mentioned she often used vulgar language when speaking. The softspoken & shy woman was the public image more than the real person. I've seen many interviews w/her & she could be quite ballsy. I still like Liz.. Unlike you, however, I don't have to mock one lady just because I prefer her "rival".
I am terribly sorry, in no way was I mocking anyone just stating an observation. When I mentioned RuPaul, it's because on an interview he credited much of his look to Marilyn Monroe, "the greatest blonde bombshell". If you look at his style in drag, he certainly is beautiful along with being charismatic as well as luminous. As mentioned earlier in my previous post, both women are beautiful...IMHO Liz had the better face , Marilyn had a better body by a mile.

All you have to do is to buy blue contact lenses, then a corset, bleach your skin, dye your hair into platinum blonde, have a nose job, buy an identical dress like Marilyn's, have an ultra sweet, then you're good to go. Elizabeth Taylor? Would you feel comfortable wearing violet contact lenses??? I highly doubt that, only Liz, herself, can pull off that look. And thats just to name a few.

Could Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Mariah Carey, or Gwen Stefani be a twin? No. Why is that? Besides, her looks, Marilyn was UNIQUE. She was complex, often contradictory to her screen image, if you look past the dumb blonde studio typecasting & study the real woman. Plastic surgery, bleached hair & colored contact lenses do not alter your character.
@hollywoodsinger13 Marilyn had both a candid sexuality & a childlike quality that seems contradictory, but was natural to her. It's why she could wear a revealing gown & still project innocence. Very hard to fake if it's not part of your personality. Professional impersonators don't capture this essence. They do a shallow cartoon parody: breathy voice, heavy-lidded eyes--copying a character Marilyn played in films & at public events. They forget the witty, perceptive woman under the surface.
@hollywoodsinger13 Elizabeth Taylor, no doubt a beauty, was different. While Marilyn seemed sweet, warm, & approachable, Liz often came across as brittle, cold, & remote. Don't forget personality (inner beauty) enhances outer beauty a great deal. I'm not saying Liz was a bad person, just that she seemed aloof & distant. Elizabeth's lovely eyes are a dark shade of blue, not literally violet or purple. That started as a Hollywood publicity stunt & has been repeated ever since.

She died long before it existed. 2nd, people who knew her told biographers she gave money to people who had less, even when she didn't have much herself. @hollywoodsinger13 Yes, she had minor plastic surgery on her nose & chin. Also, electrolysis to raise her hairline, like Rita Hayworth. It wasn't crazy Michael Jackson or Joan Rivers surgery. It's something the studios made their actresses do at the beginning of their careers, part of their contracts. I've seen plenty of Norma Jeane photos before the surgery & I think she was pretty. She had a natural radiance.

Marilyn was heavier in some of her later roles, but she was hardly fat. Women were heavier then, period, and sizes were different then. People harping about her being a size 16 is are just full of it. The Marilyn of "How To Marry a Millionaire", and "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", just to name a few, was the epitome of what a screen goddess should be....then and now. Both she and Liz are the blueprint for sexiness and beauty, and I think Halle Berry can be added to that. The great 3!

Marilyn sadly died in 1962 (was probably murdered), whilst Elizabeth Taylor has had the rest of her life to make more films and become a huge success. Its a bit unfair to compare the two on talent being as Marilyn's life was cut so short =( and Elizabeth was also younger than Marilyn. Marilyn's terrible childhood and what she had to go through then and for the rest of her life with being so insecure and alone really makes her the queen for me.

Two entirely different types of "beauty". I love them both . . . each had their own distinct quality . . . raw sex appeal, Monroe hands down. Downright beautiful, Liz, hands down. Saw a picture of both of these women at a Sinatra performance in Vegas, sitting at the SAME TABLE. Can you imagine?
Both were incredibly photogenic, but Marilyn does nothing for me, I'm afraid. Those tortured curls, and the annoying baby talk- I can never think of her as an adult. Besides, Liz is by far the better actress.
Taylor, hands down. All Marilyn had was her blonde hair and and silly baby talk. Taylor won two Oscars, lived through so many illnesses like a superwoman, and is still alive to talk about her life. Survivors are sexy!

Marilyn became more beautiful as she matured, whereas Liz was in the prime of her beauty in her mid-late twenties, then started deteriorating extremely slowly, but Liz was always beautiful. Both are known for their kindness. Marilyn was very warm and sweet and Liz was nice too. Marilyn was more versatile: excellent comedienne, beautiful singing voice, and good dramatic actress.

some have also stated monroe is such a HUGE ICON because she died young... , however, in terms of fame, while marilyn was alive she was still more famous and iconic than taylor.... taylor was at a zenith in 62 with her career and publicity, but only monroe could knock her off the covers of the magazines, while taylor career was already longer than mm, throughout the 50's and early 60's mm fame was greater, taylor's fame only got white hot thru about 59 to 62 the last 3 years of mm's life..

@amorgieful True,Elizabeth was absolutely stunning no matter what age. I like both these women because they had the bodies of women and not girls. Liz did let herself go though in her early 30's for a time. Marilyn's weight fluctuated too but she was always able to maintain it at a healthy attractive weight. Even though Marilyn suffered 10 miscarriages through her life, she always maintained her curves, even at her heaviest in "Some like it hot." She was gorgeous in Somethings Gotta Give

Did you ever meet Elizabeth? Well she was a woman of PASSION and gorgeous. She was very gracious to her fans and very warm & unlike Marilyn not jealous of her rivals. MARILYN WAS SO BEAUTIFUL BUT INSECURE IN EVERYTHING. ELIZABETH BELIEVED THAT PASSION IS THE GATE TO THE SOUL. She lived her passion, saved many lives with her work for HIV/AIDS. She had the love of her family, unlike Marilyn who didn't really have a family at all; she was raised in orphanages and was abandoned and betrayed many times. marilyn always had to fight. Elizabeth in her 20's and early 30's was absolutely stunning, but her looks started to deteriorate very slowly around this time. She still and always remained beautiful throughout her long life though. Marilyn was more beautiful at 36 than she was at 21. Her looks actually improved with age. By the time she died she was at her most beautiful

Liz wore heavy eye makeup & her brows were reshaped & thickened. One biographer wrote that both Liz & Marilyn had the same plastic surgeon, who refined their noses & gave them chin implants. But they were beautiful before any procedures. Plastic surgery enhances what one already has. It doesn't turn an ugly person into a beauty.

The cover used a photo of her when she was Grand Marshall of the Miss America pageant. This is all verified by research, from biographies that quote people who knew MM & cite sources. She never posed as a Playboy model for Hefner. He simply bought one of her earlier photos for his magazine. Also, Liz sells her own line of perfumes, not jewelry.

@707cherrypie Do you ever read biographies? MM posed nude as a favor to photographer who helped her in the past. Photographer sold photos to calendar company. Playboy later bought 1 photo for 1st issue. Both times was done w/out her knowledge or permission.

It's true that Marilyn looked a lot different without makeup on. But I don't think I've honestly ever seen Elizabeth without makeup, and it was always that heavy eyeliner and eye shadow. @mjkingofmusic Liz had(has) much more beautiful eyes than Marilyn but I don;t think that there is much difference between them.Marilyn always smiled in her movies or pictures and this made her face radiating and look just gorgeous.Liz's charm comes from her gorgeous eyes but she had something cold in her look.I prefer Marilyn for her natural way of behaving.

1stly no body knows for sure if Marilyn even had surgery, so tht my friends is NOT a fact. and ET used the same makeup steps as Marilyn; know Marilyn may have used makeup tricks to make her nose appear smaller ill admit but Marilyn was a pin up MODEL so the reason ET may seem more conservative is simply tht fact. they were both very beautiful though but the comments those opposed to Marilyn are nt facts. Marilyn WINS though by far, srry guys.

I have a hard time comparing people...everyone is so unique and special in their own way...like comparing apples to oranges... wut I will say is Marilyn was all charm, sexuality, and innocence. Marilyn was heavier in some of her later roles, but she was hardly fat. Women were heavier then, period, and sizes were different then. People harping about her being a size 16 is are just full of it. The Marilyn of "How To Marry a Millionaire", and "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", just to name a few, was the epitome of what a screen goddess should be....then and now. Both she and Liz are the blueprint for sexiness and beauty, and I think Halle Berry can be added to that. The great 3!

Elizabeth Taylor Is The Queen Without a shadow of a doubt. She was a natural beauty + did not have to be made up they way monroe was she died her hair changed her name + shit Our Liz didnt have to she was a natural beauty .. The only reason i think monroe is highly regarded is due to her tragic death. But just face facts liz taylor is more beautiful more talented (winning two oscars) But yes both women are legends in there own right but in my opinion liz reigns supreme a true icon + my idol <3

Marilyn sadly died in 1962 (was probably murdered), whilst Elizabeth Taylor has had the rest of her life to make more films and become a huge success. Its a bit unfair to compare the two on talent being as Marilyn's life was cut so short =( and Elizabeth was also younger than Marilyn. Marilyn's terrible childhood and what she had to go through then and for the rest of her life with being so insecure and alone really makes her the queen for me.

Two entirely different types of "beauty". I love them both . . . each had their own distinct quality . . . raw sex appeal, Monroe hands down. Downright beautiful, Liz, hands down. Saw a picture of both of these women at a Sinatra performance in Vegas, sitting at the SAME TABLE. Can you imagine?

Both were incredibly photogenic, but Marilyn does nothing for me, I'm afraid. Those tortured curls, and the annoying baby talk- I can never think of her as an adult. Besides, Liz is by far the better actress.

Taylor, hands down. All Marilyn had was her blonde hair and and silly baby talk. Taylor won two Oscars, lived through so many illnesses like a superwoman, and is still alive to talk about her life. Survivors are sexy!
