  • I have secondary Addison's, Sheehan's Syndrome. I am happy that the word is being delivered about this chronic illness, but I strongly fell this Endo is not forth coming about how most people have a difficult time balancing their cortisol. I do not believe the same dosage is right for everyone. This Endo says like an old outdated textbook. Lisa aka HypoGal

  • I have this disease. It has ruined my life. It is a death sentance. I will never be normal again and I would rather be dead than have to live through this. It is much more worse than what has been said here.

  • @CDHIgnorance I have this disease too and I am just wondering how it is ruining your life. Once I got on Hydrocortisone and Fludrocortisone, I was back to normal. It is not a huge burden to take pills everyday so I was just wondering in what ways this disease ruined your life.

  • @maimone12 First I went three years undiagnosed. That alone was enough to ruin my carreer that took me 20 years to build. My relationship also suffered because of it. I went from a athletic 180 pounds and full of energy to 145 pounds and unable to get out of bed. The steroids have helped but the damage has been done. Not to mention how the Meds will weaken my bones over time and must be kept refrigerated. This has left me with limited freedom. Some people are affected worse than others.

  • @CDHIgnorance Wow that is horrible. I am 21 years old and was undiagnosed for two years. I went from 185 pounds down to 150 pounds. Since I have taken the steroids for the past year I have gone back up to around 170 pounds. My endocrinologist said that long term use of steroids will deteriorate my bones but since I have only been on them for a year that obviously hasn't taken effect. You are in a very rough situation and that sucks.

  • @maimone12 As a younger person it should be easier for you to adjust, so I dont think it will affect you the same way. I was 40 when I found out that I had it. At least they were able to diagnose. I know most people go on to live normal productive lives with addisons but it gets harder the older you get and can be psycologicaly worse for men. John F Kennedy had it but he was able to become the President. Not everyone is going to be in the same situation Good luck to you and I hope you stay well

  • Unless you arrive at the doctor's with the text book Addison's 'tan', doctor's here in Australia refuse to believe anyone has the disease.
