He is such a great singer and actor. I wish that he wouldve gotten further in his career. To me, I think he is one of the best actors EVER. Especially in Jesus Christ Superstar.
Never seen Javert played like this - then again it works; too many people who are not Philip Quast try to be Philip Quast while Jerome just does his own thing.
@SebastianAntonio he acutalyl is in teh concvert but hes a studend in the abc cafe he sings "then join the fight that will give u the right ot be free"
He;s got these crazy wandering eyes that work wonderfully for this role. They are so creepy and intimidating and it's a great choice for the role, though I picture Javert a bit more stoic. Philip Quast will always be Javert to me, and I'm sure to most people.
OMG his voice is wonderful. I fell in love with Jerome after watching JCS. So powerful. Sigh... I know it's a stage performance so they have to over-dramatize their expression so the people at the back can see them but this was kind of...freaky
OMG. Jarome is SO amazing. it's SO Unfair, that i can't see him preforming live!... ;(( it wold be great.... well, maybe some day :) it's one of my dreams. :) THX YOU VERY MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!!!!
He is spectacular, isn't he?... *sigh. I vote someone gets him working on something BIG in the states. It just isn't fair that I need a passport and three-times my current income to see someone so amazing. Perhaps they can make Les Miserables into a movie (a musical one, as there are already movies that are not musicals)... he could be in it! Javert...maybe even Val Jean... I don't know.
Oh my goodness thank you SO MUCH for putting this up...I've heard the song 'Stars' sung by so many others but I really wanted to hear it sung by Jerome because I knew his voice would be perfect for the song! It's such a beautiful song!
OTT and operatic, but then again, how large is the theatre? Perhaps the performance fits the venue.
I have to say, I was rather expecting this to be horrible, but I'm pleased that he seems to actually understand what he was singing about (most Javerts have no clue).
Why is he vocally inappropriate? Pradon has the range for the part (baritenor, I'm guessing). Okay, so he has a...unique voice that takes some getting used to, but it still works, IMHO.
What parts do you consider over-the-top? It seems quite subtle to me, especially compared to Philip Quast in the 10th Anniversary Concert.
LOL, he probably understands what he's singing about because I suspect he pays closer attention to the words than native English speakers might, because a French actor such as Pradon (unlike a native English speaker) probably has to put a bit of effort into sounding natural singing/speaking English.
I'm a Jerome fan, (probably in a fairly ironic sense) he was the first Javert I can *remember* vividly. I remember him because of the over the top campness which was partly funny, partly alarming.
I have now seen Jerome go from the sublime (Pacific Overtures at the Donmar Warehouse) to the ridiculous (Lord of the Rings, Theatre Royal Drury Lane) - and this is somewhere in the middle.
He is clearly totally vocally inappropriate for the role, but gamely plods through. He remains a favourite!
I'm a fan of Jerome too. I first saw him in Jesus Christ Superstar. His portrayal of Judus was so moving! I've since seen him as Martin Guerre as well as Les Mis (all on DVD)
The first time i saw Jerome was in JCS playing Judas. But I never knew he played Javert. He is pretty good.

Much better than his whole JCS preformance.

Vocally, I agree. He's singing in his natural vocal range here.
I will forever defend his acting in JCS, however.

This would have been in London. As far as I know, that's the only place Jerome Pradon has played Javert.

I love that tiny bit of French accent he has... Do you happen to have Javert's suicide or the Confrontation with him?
HenriJonathan 3 years ago
Yeah his slight French accent sounds great, coz Javert is actually French.

Yay! Jerome! I love Jerome so much. He needs more videos on here so I can stalk him and his amazingly beautiful and unique voice more and more.
