It definitely has lots of benefits- standard AA batteries, no heat, 5600k temperature. The older model has a really flimsy build to it though. The mount is made of plastic and it feels really chintzy. I've heard the new replacement model is better. Note that the light pattern is in a 4:3 style format and does not cover a whole 16x9 frame. If that's an issue, look at the more expensive miniplus series.
