@HnusnaOpice Hmm, if you hate them so much why take the time to look up something labeled "Bagamoyo AFRICAN Dance" ? Watch the video, and then comment. That took a little bit of your time. That doesn't make any sense.
oh so the dancers r kenyan? i guess I'll just have to take ur word for it...thought bagamoyo cultural school had more tanzanians than anything...but i figured its a festival so they invited everyone.

koumankele, what u seem not to understand is the fact that the west african dance group does not see itself as either copying the south african dance style or clothing. They are simply being original, therefore there is no need to respect any difference in culture. It may surprise you to know that the male costume in this video is similar to that of the northern nigeria. The Hausas specifically. If u find this hard to believe then you need to travel beyond your native south africa a little more
There is a lot of similarity in costumes among African nations. For example the typical yoruba woman from western Nigeria can be mistaken for a woman from somewhere in Ghana
Thats still within the same region. Tradtional South African clothing is very distinct and different from other regions in Africa, as is the drumming and the reasons for the dance. Certain pieces of clothing or fabric designs are designated for specific groups and shouldnt be interchanged.
The movements themselves have meanings and history, making it very important to respect the DIFFERENCES from nation to nation when representing African culture on the stage, not just toss them all in a barrel because then CAN be similar..
It does look like the scene from "Beneath the Planet of the Apes," but in the movie they danced better & their mouths weren't full of mumbo jumbo coon gumbo.
AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL :)

African culture has spread all over. South African merged to Tanzania and formed a Nguni (Ngoni) tribe.
So there is a lot of cultural interchange.
My contribution in this.
