We the Arya, the wise ones, the sons and daughters of Bharat, the cradle of civilization. Hariprasad ji is a jewel of this great nation, the last post of sanity.
This is simply amazing! This is by far one of my most favorite and cherished song which Hariprasad and Pandit Bhawani Shankar have performed. I particularly love the part just after 1:22. Thanks for uploading this...
* Mridangam is a little smaller in length than the pakhavaj. Mridangam is more barrel shaped, 'myrobolan* shaped, whereas the pakhavaj has an eccenteric bulge and is a 'barley shaped' drum, as prescribed in the Natya Shastra.
@sunandoraja This bit is from his work at the Theatre de la Ville in Paris, France back in 2005. Look up the record label & Web site "Mondomix" (France) for more info.
@zznarcolepsy and @sunandoraja i totally agree, i allready looked there and really would like to buy the video of the complete program but couldnt find any link at the mentioned web-site.
if somebody knows where to buy the whole thing, please give me a message.
And you know better than me what I like or not ? Just because you like something, you want everybody else to like it as well and if not, they are all wrong ?
Why do you interfere ? Just speak for yourself. How could you know what others would like to know or not ? Everybody has a freedom to express any opinion and I suppose you are not the one to tell people what to do and what to say or not. Tell your impression and respect the right of others to do the same. OK ?
Trying to shape and command the world and people according to one's obstinate ideas is very foolish and immature. Awake and relax ... And learn some basic manners of communicating with people.
@cenolbaj If there were rules around creativity, art would not exist. You can therefore stick your opinion where the sun don't shine. You seem to have categorized Indian music in your puny brain when the fact is that Indian classical music has evolved over thousands of years. It has no rules. You are right about him being a divine master, but somehow you seem to know better. May be now you can see outside of that tiny box that you trap your self in.
On this site, should the operators provide facilities to sell the complete concert for those colelctors, it is great. Musicians do not sell their work, but it's a great service for the collectors worldover.
Hariprasad Chaurasia (featured); Rakesh Chaurasia (in the gold to the back) -- Hariprasad's nephew; Bhavani Shankar on the Pakhawaj; Yogesh Samsi on Tabla....cannot recognize the flutist in blue.
@zznarcolepsy - both sides on the pakhawaj are equally round and emit same sound (a deep resonance which u can hear)...while mridangam's one side is smaller than the other and both sides emit sounds differently
Can somebody can tell me what is the brand and model of those microphones?
I don't find them anywhere.
Thanks.

Hariprasad Chaurasia is a divine master ... But this arrangement (flutes playing lines in thirds) sounds too artificial an unnatural for Indian music
