Hi - did you get your projector working? I have one and wanted to double-check some things you mentioned. Mine is red-tag and says 1000. Is that the model do you know? I don't see anything on there saying 750, but looks exactly like that one you have, even case - other than the power plug reels into the bottom of the base. Manual says '48 - so figured it was a year older than yours. But that's a guess. S/N 16886
Unfortunately, I never was able to get it properly working. I may need to keep experimenting with oils until it runs. I can't say I'm too familiar with your "model 1000".
@toasteroven427 Well apparently there is very little difference between the 750 and 1000. Have you tried sewing machine oil? Seemed to work ok for me. I'm wondering if it's belt driven or small chain. You might have something broke, or a sprocket loose on the motor - if it's chain.
I will try sewing machine oil. It's driven by a small chain, almost like a bicycle chain. When I turn it on, the motor runs fine, but it refuses to move the reels in any direction.
cool i found one in my "grandma's" basement! she let me keep it im not sure if it works but its great decor for my room. Seeing as though cinema is my dream career :]
Nice video, thanks. I have the same projector (bought new) circa 1952, with a variable speed control. URGENT: the film transport stopped working while I was testing it. The motor runs fine, the lamp is fine, the reverse gear is fine, but no film transport, like a belt or chain broke. PLEASE: does anybody know a repair facility for these antique units? Thanks very much!

That's the purpose it's serving now, as decoration, as I've tried using three different lubricants and oils and it still won't run.

You may want to check online or your local yellow pages. There is a good chance your projector simply needs re-oiled or re-lubed.

That is sweet. You are getting me into this old film equipment stuff.

It's really fun stuff. I've already got my brother into it as well as my cousin who came to town for a couple of days. They both want projectors now.

Thanks! You can find projectors on eBay for pretty cheap. You can even try looking at your local Goodwill, thrift stores, antique shops, etc.
