  • hey pretty good but its stamped not stomped i do this for choir

  • I RJA are Ron Paul supporters...

  • I think its funny that he expected something different. You go to war to kill people and continue to do so until you come home safe. This may be a good song but i think the hidden meaning is don't go to war unless you can handle the psychological aspect of killing a man, or woman for that matter considering how it goes nowadays. Haters gonna Hate

  • @draco025 ppl who talk in 1337sp33k r so totalle dumb altho they try 2 act smrt about things omg bad grammr is such a payn

But in all seriousness, show some respect. This song displays the brutality of war. Comment on this video as such.

  • even after a few years this song still gives me goosebumps...

  • Such an amazing message!

  • :'[ ...........D''''': *so sad* *sniff sniff [:[

  • Anybody have an instrumental of this song, or a karaoke version?

  • It is the most awful experience ever, once you kill him you move on and kill another, its the way things work. You are not happy that you kill them, you are not sad its just apart of the job you need to do. You don't dwell on it, because if you do, it will drive you crazy. The world is a messed up place. You are not on your way to better days after you kill a man, there is just much more to come. People need to understand although this song is great, it is by far the truth of war.

  • I am sorry, but this has nothing to do with what happened in the Vietnam war which is what it is trying to aim at. It tells of people going there not expecting to fight and kill. Of course they expected that, when you are drafted or volunteer you know your not going to be a cook. When he says all those things about taking someones life, its nothing to sing about, you don't take your enemies letter and ship it to there loved ones you brutally kill them. See them slowly die right before you.

  • beautiful voice

  • @airofrce And i hold imense respect for all armed forces as well as their familiys not just USA military. And i may feel sorry for the family members of who i have to kill but that dosent mean i wouldnt do it.

  • @airofrce ok i understand that furthermore i must apoligize for taking so long to reply, I understand the emotional value behind this song the problem is...... i dont care. I know that by killing another soldier i am taking away someones son, father, brother, or loved one. i get that but when I go over there i intend to come back to see my brother mother and father i intend to see my family no matter how many people i have to kill. Its as simple as that. And i could live with myself.

  • When it says "I've sealed it with my tears" you wrote "I've sealed it with my tears, and stomped it with my fists." It's "I've sealed it with my tears, and stamped it with my fears"

    Just letting you know.

  • u know people who r against war r dumb in my opinion. without war there cannot be peace. there is evil and good in this world. without one there would not be the other. and the reason we go to war is to protect our loved ones so if that means shooting sumone then i would do it, cause if u dont kill them they might just kill u even if they r unarmed there r ways to kill a man without a weapon.

  • if this song got official video..its will be awesome video <3

  • I can't listen to this song without crying. <3

  • The 3 dislikes should be sent across the see and see how that feels

  • Im 16, I have an 11 yr old sister. My 17 Year old brother is joining the army soon,Clearly. Servicemen and women from all over dont get the respect deserved. I lost My Mum wghen i was 10 and as i said im 16 and i will still break down into tears because of my brother.I think soldiers, that have passed, or the families of them should be gravly thanked.

  • like this if this song made you cry:)

  • Such a sad song, haunting music, heartfelt lyrics. I love this song. Stunning <3

Nice job on the lyrics too!

  • I LOVE IT

  • this song made me cry(: and it was stuck in my head for like forever!

  • anti-Vietnam war people

  • this song is about the russian revoltion RIGHT?

  • @hawtxunicorns its about vietnam

  • well the guy he killed didnt do anything... i mean he saw him coming and just looked at him so he had no intent on killing him... maybe he just didnt want to be a part of it.... great song

  • so the "enemy" soldier allows the narrator to kill him when he has a family waiting for him? ok...

By the way a bayonet is still a wepon so the narrator shouldn't feel that bad. It's not like he killed an unarmed man.

  • @greyepistle technically the narrator did kill an unarmed man.

"Although I couldn't hesitate; I checked his gun and his chamber was empty"

The man he killed had no bullets in his gun, therefore, in a way he was unarmed

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but I just thought you should know.

  • @Liila6241 Although the gun has no ammo, it was equiped with this long pointy knife called a bayonet which is used to stab people with the intent of killing them. So by defnintion, he is armed. Although the song implys that the soldier has no intent to kill the narrator. I liked what the band was trying to convey. it's just some logical errors that bugged me because this song got stuck in my head for a week. its very catchy.

  • @greyepistle

in 1970 people were drafted, the guy had no choice

  • i love this song :] makes me smile i dont know why just a great song and a great band <3

  • Love this song!!!!

  • @airoforce Nd i do understand the emotional value behind this song

  • @airoforce i agree i hav no right to say that, Yet. Im entering the USMC after i graduate. I kno that by pulling that trigger i may be ending the life of a father, husband or son but im 100% positive i can live with myself afterwords. The thing is i will not let Abdul the terrorist stand between me and getting back to who i love. I have great respect for our soldiers nd immense respect for what they do thats why i want to be a member of the USMC.

  • To all Soldigers who fought. I salute you all along with many other people.

    Air Force Cadet Travis

  • I understand the emotional issue in this song but frankly i dont see the big deal. A soldier goes to war and kills another human being only to realise the enemy is himself The way i see it death is unavoidable its gonna happen regardless i kno everyones gonna think im a monster but it all boils down to 2 things: Me or You? nd Whats ur reason is for goin to war My reason is im protecting those i love n im goin home to see them to bad if ur the other guy Thts jus how i see it. Sorry 2 all offended

  • @swampcat64 unless you have been to war and expereinced it then you have the right to say that. Your not just killing a man. His kids have no fater. His wife will have to take care of the kids living a life of lonleynes and sadnes. His mother left to carry the burden that she outlived her son. Imagine all the pain. There is a message behind this song, thats what is emotional about it.

  • this song actually brought tears to my eyes...

  • @kathrineabby that what happened to me im an air force cadet so im aware of the significence espically when they showed the picture of his family. That was emotional

  • @airofrce im sorry to hear that... i really respect people like you. this song is emotional without personal experiences, a song that means something to someone makes an amazing song.

  • it makes me cry :'(

  • this song is so addicting

  • This song is actually about a soldier who arrives in the war and has to kill this other soldier cuz he thinks that this other soldier is going to kill him. So he shoots the this other soldier and runs to him. As this other soldier is dying he waits with him and this other soldier asks him to mail a letter or get a letter to his wife and he realiss that these 2 soldiers arent much different from each other and they probably could have been frinds and he wasnt gunna shoot him i love this song!

  • This all soldiers in the service

    I salute you all

    Cadet Airman Sanders

  • This song makes me cry.

  • I'm making a video for school about the vietnam war and i decided to use this song never hearing it until i downloaded it and i fell in love with it!!!!

  • Yea, well I'm a "Dove" or an anti-war person. I would be spending my time in riots and protests. =P

  • "stamped it with my fears" should be "sealed it with my tears, and stamped it with my fears" ;D

  • @iJUSTlyrics actually if you listen closley it says fists just saying not trying to pick an argument ;D

  • @KellyLynnHeartbreak it says on their website "Sealed it with my fears & stamped it with my fears", so I'm actually reading off that plus its their official website :L

  • its the vietnam war

since at the beginning it says 1970

  • his grandfather war is ww2

  • well it's like someone who was drafted into war would sing this. 'u shipped me across the sea in the name of victory' 'no welcoming comitee

  • im pretty sure its some what like a anti- war song. its saying that when u are fighting in a war and you kill a man, u are not j killing your enemy, u are killing someone elses child, someones mom or dad, someones husband or wife, and someone lses friend.

that was my interpritation. srry if my spellings off... not one of my strong points

  • @JAYSAY17 I dont think its ao much anti war as it is saying its not just and Enemy its a person that gets killed. I hear it more as a story of a soldier realizing war is not all glory, there is sadness as well.

  • @JAYSAY17 I've always assumed it was about the Vietnam war, it's the only war i know of in the 1970's. Not trying to correct you, just giving my input :)

  • @JAYSAY17 i agree with you 100% on the interpretation of the song man and im against the war all the way

  • @JAYSAY17 I think its also saying just cause the person you are standing against is armed, it doesnt mean he is there to kill you.

  • @JAYSAY17 Thats all apart of war man, however if you kill a man, whether it be Taliban or even a suicide bomber, you may be killing someones child, father, brother, husband, cousin or whatever, but think if you didn't kill that man, how many more innocent lives would have been taken by them?

  • i cant tell the meaning of this song

  • i think he was like a young adult who joined the war-WW2, i think - and didn't realize the horror of it till he'd killed someone. he was shipped off to win for his country, and expected a party coz he was so commited. but when he killed his first opponent - who was unarmed except for a bayonet and an empty gun - he realized these weren't really savages he was killing, but real people with real families and loves. the dead man had only meant to post a letter, not hurt him.

  • and the letter home was probably to his wife and kids. poor guy. war is so...pointless.

  • oh yeah, i just realized the guy who got killed probably did it as a suicide. he walked out during a WAR with NO WEAPON and got himself killed on purpose. but i still think he meant to post a letter first.

  • suicide ... not even he obviously was on the opposing side (Vietnamese) considering they were well known for their bayonet warfare. war is not pointless at all it has one of the most poweerful meanings ever... yes chaos can come from it but so can freedom like who i can be writing this right now. The letter was just to mean that yes we go to war and kill people we dont even know and how their lives can be as simplictic and normal as ours,

  • i'm sure freedom meant a lot to the people who die so someone else, someone much more powerful, can have a bit more land. but of COURSE their lives can be normal. *shrug*. i doubt they grew up shooting random passers-by.

  • Maybe not...during WWII the Russian soldiers were only given one gun for every other soldier and a pack of bullets, so not everyone had a weapon. The ones without guns had to run behind the ones that DID, so when they died they were able to grab it. So maybe he wasn't able to get any bullets or something. War's a cruel thing.

  • war is incredibly cruel. and i don't really care what anyone else says, i still don't see the point. of war, i mean. if i wanted to get myself killed for 'freedom' (becuase really, who is free in this modern world?) i could go stand in one of those riot/protests.

  • look idk if you believe me but war helps keep peace. you are right about one thing... war is cruel but very neccicary. without war we would be a weak poor country. america is a very free rich country compared to most of the world. so next time you say something about war think about your freedom and how good you have it compared to other people...

  • I partly believe you. But if war helps keep freedom, why is slavery still widely used?

  • @megan12451 but really, how is war "neccicary"? why cant we all just do it like the good old days? Play chess? winner gets all! instead of fighting for 'freedom', why cant people stop being lazy bums and tend their own crops nd stuff. slaves are people with rights.soldiers that die in war are people.. nobody should have to die because of war. we shouldnt have to think 'how good we have it compared to other people' because those other people prob. did nothing wrong to deserve the life they have

  • @0DinoPrincess0 hahah good ider but it should be like the african indians did, they made the two chiefs go to battle andd the winner, well there tribe won the war... much less lives lost.

  • @airofrce Yes!! Like that!!!
