Interesting! I had the good fortune to travel to many countries around the world and meet gay people of all walks of life in different nations and cultures. I remember once meeting a group of young gay men in a plaza in Arequipa, Peru who upon hearing I was a Gringo asked if I had ever been to San Francisco and if it was true it is a gay paradise!!! I also once met a young Palestinian transvestite in Haifa, Israel who was seeking freedom in the US.
@BAZHE Thanks for watching and comment. I wouldn't go so far as to condemn any particular religion. If you push against things, they push back. And I think a vast portion of the human population are slaves to something, whether a government, religion or just their own thinking patterns and behaviors. Hugs to you Bazhe.
Thank yo for sharing that very interersting correspondance you had with that young gay Afgan! He has deeply internalized the values of his culture. What to do? Well, you are doing it dear friend, by the example of your life, just as you say. Namaste, Daniel
back in my parents home country, the word pedophile and gay are the same thing. i think it is that way in many cultures (jamaica, etc) it's insane the amount of ignorance and intolerance that still exists out there.
Did you see that video of that african priest/professor guy describing homosexuality?! lol it's like something out of the 1700s!!
@PhilosopherFresh big changes are coming! people are either going to learn to accept, co-operate and unite or they are going to get swept away by their own negative energies.
Pray for the ignorant souls who choose hate over love ... they are the ones who will need it the most.
@PhilosopherFresh Yes, what I am all about is providing a more positive role model, hoping to provide an alternative to the hatred spreading. It's all about love and tolerance.
It was a bit difficult to concentrate to your speech, because the background music is a bit too loud...
I don't like "Gay Taliban" in your video title. (Did you say something about it, no!)
I know about gay man refugees from Afghanistan who try to get asylum. The alien office don't believe them that they are gay and that their life is not secure...
@Ilkamy Thanks for your feedback. I will keep the volume down on the music in future films. The gay Taliban was in reference to the lack of tolerance in this particular gay man and I still think is appropriate here. However, we shall agree to disagree on this one. Thanks for watching.
I think this is a great video with a great message! The one and ONLY thing I do not understand is why you gaypeople has to express your sexual orientation all the time!?!?
Personally I am heterosexuell, but I don´t flash that out all the time!
And I don´t like gaypeople calling themselves "married"!! Marriage is for a MAN and a WOMAN according to me!
@Archos72 Actually, heterosexual people "flash" out their sexuality ALL the time. It's in every commercial, every ad, every TV show, every movie, on the streets, in the schools, in the churches...it's all pervasive, yet no one complains. I am legally and spiritually married to a man and very proud and happy about it. If that bothers you or others, then I suggest you look away.
Bush and his CIA invented the Taliban and now there is now warcrimes and genocide being committed by U.S. imperialism. Hey have you heard of Prop 8 in California and gay bashing.
I'm also in that joyous process of looking towards what is wanted rather than what it unwanted...such a simple thing to do..but oh so powerful...often laugh at myself for not doing this simple thing more often in my past! :D
Very interesting about your friend & his limitations...ones thing for sure...they will enable him to grow & expand his consciousness in the fullness of time...hopefully during his current lifetime! :D
@wanderingmaster Hi Pete! So nice to know that you are watching! Thank you for responding. Yes, reaching for what we want is a whole lot more fun than pushing against what we don't want, and far more rewarding. I truly do wish my young Afghan friend all the best.
@productsofmonkeylove Thanks Daniel. So nice to see you here, to know you are watching. Just found a lost cache of films that I had forgotten about, so will be posting some new stuff.
I'm glad you make your videos in such inspiring locations.
I've got some pretty glorious scenes in my own backyard...the foothills of the Rocky Mountains...and it's good to be reminded to get out and love it for all it's worth. Spring at last!
Just trying to imagine a way to empathize with the view of personal freedom as a tyranny...maybe his view makes sense, in a certain way, if you rephrase it this way:
The tyranny of being led around by the whims of one's own undisciplined desires, like the desire to pout, shout, throw tantrums, urinate in bed...in other words, the tyranny of being stuck in emotional infancy.
You make a good point there. If one is not in touch with oneself, is undisciplined and unawake, then being tossed and turned by the whims of your undisciplined desires could be quite a wild and unpleasant and even tyrannous ride. In such a case, it might be preferable to be dictated to by some outside authority or dogma. Carl Jung said that if there is any such thing as a "sin", then its spiritual and emotional and mental laziness.
For some people, the "God" or the "father figure" in stories is an allegory for one's own internal sense of impulse control. People turn to authoritarian religion when they are disgusted at themselves for behaviors XY and Z. Alternative solutions, not involving religion, can be to just accept those behaviors (those you resist the most persist anyway) or step up the habits of self discipline.
@onemantwodogs Thats so cool! Is it really cold? (I can't put my finger my Swedish friend has to repeat himself sometimes because I am listing, but only to his voice.
my friend (vlogasaurusflex) sent this video to me to check out and i think this was a pretty interesting. i'm surprised by your conversation with this young man and his conclusions about the tyranny of freedom. seems a bit contradictory. but, in the spirit of tolerance, i think it is important to point out that organised religion can be, for some people, very freeing on a personal level. it can give their life meaning in a way an ideology about freedom cannot.
@oopspaw You have a point. Organized religion can be freeing on a personal level for some people because it frees them from having to take responsibility and making choices. It is often easier to blindly follow a dogma and code than to take personal responsibility. Thanks for your insights.
@onemantwodogs .. well, that's not the sense in which i meant but i don't disagree with you that many who ascribe to org/religion do so w/o knowing the doctrines of their holy books with any great understanding. i would also say the same about people who ascribe to ideologies of freedom. i'm not sure many of them are all that well aquainted with the important theories that underpin their freedoms in liberal democratic societies.
You may well right that many freedom lovers don't understand the underlying theories, as evidenced by the low voter turnouts in most Western countries, but I am talking about something more personal and intimate, the personal freedom within each one of us to choose on a moment-to-moment basis what we think and feel.
FREEDOM = Follow your true will. I'm quite frankly fed up with religion as whole with it's chains and shackles, i've haddit!!! yep concerntrate on the positive things in life. I like to see people just being who they are, then you know they are happy.
@Auriclama Personally, I agree with you that organized religion is old paradigm and that personal spirituality is where we are heading, but allowing and tolerance means also being tolerant about those who choose otherwise, even if that choice is for what we might see as a limiting belief system, even if they are not allowing or tolerant of those not in that belief system. Perhaps that is what Christ meant by "turn the other cheek"....? Thanks for your valuable insights.
@onemantwodogs yep i like to hear to the teachings of the christ, i quite personally like the christ.. not religion though that's a different thing all together. many use his name in vain. Like you said about the middle eastern guy, it's his choice, even if he doesn't wan't to be free.
It is amazing how some cultures are still rooted in their beliefs of a supreme being that dictates how they must live. What is scary is when they take it that step farther, and believe they must force that belief on the rest of the world. You think we've come a long way from the Middle Ages. And yet we haven't.
cute .. like your clip .. keep it up =)

and the islam as one of the worse religion in the world

What you said was really offensive!!!
MARRIAGE IS NOT JUST FOR ''TWO JENDERS''
IT'S FOR EVERYONE!!!! And shouldn't be called ''less than''
Just because you feel a certain ''way'' about it!
