  • i remember nwa flying to ottawa international in canada. never flew it there but i flew it when i went to vancouver. best service i ever had!

  • @CriWt2 I seem to recall Northwest approaching Delta with the Merger, attempting to buy them when Delta was in bankruptcy. Delta held out, got their operation reorganized, and then went to the bargaining table.

  • I have flown a lot woth Northwest. From Schiphol The Netherlands to Detroit. The DC10-30 I will never forget and even not the B757-200 and 300's. In my FSX this airline will stay in my traffic.

  • great song and ending..thanks!!

  • Soon there will be just one Airline and 300 Logos.... No more individuality.. With the Exception Of unique Southwest Airlines..

  • YOU WORK AT THE AIRPORT?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Comment removed

  • I wanted to grow up and be a Northwest pilot... thanks to Delta, that dream's crushed. I remember how the pilots would greet you with a smile when you boarded and exited the plane, and sometimes would even give kids a little fact card about the plane or a plastic wing badge... bye nwa

  • @ThePwnu777 im 16. and 2 years ago, exactly that happened to me on a shitty UNITED flight from Munich to O'Hare! the gave me plastic pins and a little card bout the old azz 747-400

  • I Like This song's. Thanks

  • It sure was a great airline but one question, what happened to it? Why did the company closed down?

  • They will be missed. I flew on their equipment many times and their service, OUTSTANDING. From the ground crew to the pilot.f

  • The Airline business was just such an inspiration to me. Back then, Narita, where I frequently use the most, being from Japan and all, was filled with NWA planes painted in that "Bowling Shoe" livery. Also United was another one that dominated Terminal 1, and they still do. Both of those "Grey" liveries were so awesome just to look at. I just want to go back to those days as a kid when I would go to the airport just to see those planes take off and land. Goodbye NWA.

  • RIP Northwest 1926-2010 you will not be forgotten

  • Northwest... Continental... I share your feelings. My country lost its flag airline (and the most powerful in Central America on terms of destinations, fleet and pax): LACSA on 2004, when finally the "GRUPO TACA" merged completely.

It's a shame that the airline mergers implied the destruction of one of them. Why can't maintain an individual identity? Like, for example: TACA/AVIANCA, Air France/KLM, GOL/VARIG, Lufthansa/Swiss Intl. Airlines/Austrian Airlines.? It's so difficult?

  • it skips 4:12

  • Delta bought northwest :(

  • i miss it, it took me to detroit last last year , my first trip to america is with NWA

  • how sad am i when this airline gone

  • I miss domestic flights on those DC-10's. My last flight on NWA was in 08 DC-9 the first time I ever flew first class Norfolk to Detroit. A $40 upgrade I figured why not.

  • Esta montagem!

    Deus abençoa!

    Márcio - Santa Luzia/MG - Brasil.

  • Existem coisas lindas na vida! Essa montagem é uma delas.

    Deus abençoa!

    Márcio - Santa Luzia/MG - Brasil.

  • NWA is the plane which transported me to America, I really miss it. Delta isn't the same.

  • so graceful lol

  • Wonderfully done video.

  • im gonna mis NWA. My uncle was a flight attendant but now hes with delta. :(

  • Goodbye NWA, we`ll really miss you.

  • i miss NWA

  • Back-in-the-day there was a saying about Northwest's color scheme.

"The 11th commandment...Thou shall keep the tail red".

  • wow i will def. miss nwa they were a great airline will miss them so!

  • i live by msn and this was my favorite airline to see land

  • I miss NWA but delta airlines just doesnt feel the same.........

  • Also if you ask any delta South pilot there is too much red in the widget and yes its pointed the wrong way.

  • I love Delta but also Northwest.I don't think Delta should kill Northwest. The other compromise is that the delta logo is now all red.

  • videos like this just make me mad....im 14, and i want time to pass FAST so i can finally be an airline pilot, and live my dream in the sky's!

    thumbs up if you agree!

  • i honestly think they shouldve stuck with the red tails and make the regular Delta font on the fuselage.

  • @RunTheRockers yeah

  • My first flight in a DC-10 was on Northwest from Seattle to Detroit. 1999.

  • i still nwa in lga

  • NWA one hell of an airlines ! May it's memory live on.

  • Very Nice thank you

I hate to see these historic Airlines go

    So Long NWA

  • I LOVE THE CLASSIC 747-200

  • The end of an era. Farewell Northwest Airlines.

  • ill mis NWA. best airline ever. my uncle was a Flight attendant for NWA but now for Delta. i want to be a pilot for delta though now

  • music pairs well. well done. take care nwa ;(

  • Sayonara nwa, which is one of the oldest foreign airlines fly to Taipei!!!

  • Those 7 people who disliked have no life

  • A very nice movie. And the music choice could not have been better. A shame it is going

  • the NW A320 in the beginning and the end, is now in Delta colours.

  • northwest airlines 747 was the first 747 i eversaw in real life i was 7 at jfk back in 2001 at the time i didnt know what plane it was but i remember seeing the hump on the plane there were at lease 4 of them parked at the stands.

  • good bye northwest :'(

  • A very nice tribute to one of the best airlines in the world.

  • I think that instead of NWA and its logo going away, Delta should have made a compromise, like what UA and CO are doing (Keep united name and continental logo).

  • @pacificanairways Northwest and Delta actually did make a compromise. Depending on who you talk to, the merger was in talks long before it was announced. That's why when Delta came out with it's new livery, the Delta "widget" on the tail was pointed in the same direction as the Northwest compass pointer was. They compromised with a merged, albeit obscure, paint scheme.

  • @kicker943 ahhh i see. although it was indeed obscure, it's still better than no compromise

  • @kicker943 UA CO Merged Livery is ugly, even after they updated the font. The name UNITED just doesn't do well with the golden globe of Continental. I like both of those airlines but, hell they ruined both of their legacy.

  • @kicker943 they still need a red tail...

  • @pacificanairways I agree I worked for NWA in MSP its sad to see Northwest leave its an end of an era.

  • @fordairport

i used to work in msp... till 2001... i must say that it was one of the few jobs that i actually enjoyed, working on the ramp at msp, the sea of red and gray...

  • @pacificanairways They did, in fact this merger kept essentially all of the old NWA routes, planes, and personnel. Even the mostly red tail of the new Delta is NWA-like.

  • @pettyofficer30 oh well

  • Northwest airlines isnt going out of biusness there about to join delta and they will form the worlds largest airline!

  • @liplol nope nope. my dad flies for united and united and continental have agreed to merge. they kept united name and they kept continentals logo. now there the biggest out of alll!!!!! i fly for sun country as a captain by the way but we just knocked down northwest by a long shot!!!

  • if you can. make a mob to save northwest airlines

  • I may be a train guy but I am also a fan of airplanes! I used to fly on Northwest all the time andI loved there service! I would take Northwest to all my favorit Railfaning locations around the country for a great price!!! I will miss them! I would like to thank all the crew for there graet service and a smooth flight! THANK YOU :D

  • @spruill7716, they are unfortunely defuct, the planes are flying as 'Delta Airlines Revenue' , they are slowly getting painted over one by one. SAD !

  • NWA is getting their planes painted to Delta every time they get a repair, Witch means less and less NWA and more Delta.

  • I didn't know Northwest Airlines was Defunct !

  • sayonara & arigatou nwa

  • bye red tail, one of the great planes i know...

  • I will never forget you Northwest. Always there disappear the best Airlines. One of the oldest Fluggeselschaften is away and the new delta sign looks ugly.

  • Fair well you glorious silver bird. You will live in my memory of days when airlines were a way of life. With respect.

    A. Caputo UAL 4/13/67-9/08/02

  • Goodbye my Northwest Airlines..........!! Some people just know how to fly !

  • 一如往昔

  • does anyone know what was the final "official" NWA flight was

  • I flew NWA once, great crew. You will be missed.

  • what happen to northwest airlines?

  • it merged into delta

  • They were acquired through a merger with Atlanta-based Delta Airlines.

  • you will be missed NWA.

  • Sarah Brightman- "The Angel of Music." Great video! Goodbye Northwest.... :(

  • at 1:57 HOLY CRAP LOOK AT ALL THATFLEET! BILLIONS OF DOLLARS SITTING ON THAT PAVEMENT RIGHT THERE.

  • We are a PROUD RED TAIL FAMILY!!! HERE'S 2 ALL WHO FLEW UNDER THE TAIL!!!

  • ditto!!!!!

  • beautiful pictures

  • Great Farewell Video... I will miss you NWA...

  • A great video and tribute to NWA. Thank you.

  • This is saddening, I just hate to see airlines bite the dust! But at least they're gone due to a merger, not bankruptcy.....

  • why stop DC-10?

  • my parents worked for them for 20 years, I feel in love with aviation when I was little and hope to someday become a pilot.

  • oh what a shame i just bought a 747 400 of north west

  • Wonderful video! My mother is a retired agent for the former NWA. I grew up with this airline, seeing the red-tails fly in and out of MSP International. I've flown on NWA hundreds of times as a result. Music brought a tear to my eye. Well composed!

  • And such an appropriate song too.

  • Why did they have to get rid of the OLD airline?.... very sad. it was my favorite.

  • Well done.

  • Thanks for the pics in the hybrid scheme from the late 80's - those of us who were RC people and lived through that horrible merger appreciate the shout out...

  • NWA spirit will always live on and make the NEW Delta the world leading airline

  • SAVE THE NINERS!!!!! -30's, -40's, and the -50's!!! The sun will never set on Northwest airlines!

  • I'm gonna miss NWA... a loooooooot!!! good bye DC-9'S!!!

  • the DC-9s are with delta

  • I know, but Delta is gonna retire all DC-9's anyways when NWA becomes part of them...xD

  • that sucks

  • Great video.

  • Nice

  • Northwest` is not going away` , its just the name we have all of the northwest` crew working on one great airline. As the 1988 PanAm crew` we as delta employees know who and where they came from. 4ever (Northwest crew)

  • Hey, since you work for Delta, Can you please tell your boss to save the DC-9s/

747s/DC-10s?These are the best planes of NWA that everyone loves(especialy me)!

  • DC-10s were retired back around 2004 when NWA was still NWA. Its sad to see the MD80s go, but they are old aircraft. More of a shock to see the 747 200s go though, some of which were bought less then 10 years ago.

Atleast they are keeping the 747 400's in service for now....

  • thats true the 747 400 is surviving and being painted with Delta Schim on it. Northwest too great care of their old DC9 32 but parently its going to be scrapt soon.

  • ATA have bought DC 10 off of Northwest untill sudenly, they went out of bussiness, ATA was great airline especially working with Southwest Air.

  • north west will never go im sendin an email to them 4 a hybrid livery

  • It's not right! NWA will never be gone.. thanks for these WONDERFUL videos! I cried...

  • :'(

  • :'( I will never forget Northwest Airlines

  • delta is my airline, but i disagree with retiring the dc-9

  • so far, Northwest took very good care of there DC 9 32 because I've saw some of their DC9 still in there service but now its going away.

  • delta should use the north west circle on its tail with its triangle logo in it.

  • that would be ugly

  • have been missing it already

  • I never flew on nwa...but I'll miss this airlines...it has its rich history...I loved all of their liveries...just can't believe it will be gone forever...

  • why re they leaaving..why hvnt i herd of this

  • Becoming a part of Delta

  • To me, 2:15 sums up NWA...

My favorite color-sceam is the last one they chose to paint their planes (i.e. the full body silver and the red tail).

  • the.......first plane i was ever on....... that inspired me to become a pilot. From all of the nwa lovers we will truly miss you. thank you for taking me on all my trips.

  • Look fancy with the new logo. Good job!!

  • omg that was so beautiful!!! im so gonna miss nwa! ill so miss the old nw symbol- and why does delta have to take them? I LOVE YOU NORTHWEST!!!!!

p.s. ill miss their B747-200s too!

  • wow! great video, thanks a lot! great music... Northwest will live always in people's hearts. now we are the biggest and best airline all over the world!

  • aswsome vid

hope they will do great with KLM and Air france

  • great video, great song. We are all saddened by the merger. Thanks

  • we will miss the red tails!!!we love you northwest airlines

  • such a rich history... This is beautiful. thank you!

  • yea northwest is just merging with delta

  • They arent going away just merging with delta

  • evrything will be delta, they are in the process.....

  • yup..if u look on all of NWA's Fresh painted planes. Under the Registration numbers it will say " Operated by Northwest Airlines" And the FA's and Pilots Still Call Themselves NW..

  • That is only until the single operating certificate is obtained. We will ALWAYS call ourselves Northwest, believe me.

  • got it right we still northwes

  • What happened to Northwest Orient ????

They should still be flying ?

  • OH NO i used to fly with northwest all the time i cant believe they are leaving us

  • Northwest will be miss and so will there rich history. Aviation is in a sad state bad ceo and employees that are partimers and care nothing for aviation.

  • when did they close!!!???i really want to know because 3 months ago i am an nwa passenger and i really like nwa!!!pls tell me!!!

  • I bet google would tell you.

  • they didnt close, they are merging with Delta airlines to become the largest airline in the world...

    NWA will be missed

  • They didn't close. In fact, they has merged with Delta Air Lines.

  • yea, its now > Air france/KLM/Delta

Before it was always > Air France/KLM/NWA

  • I'll miss seeing the red tails all over Asia :(

  • Comment removed

  • I thought that NWA bought Delta but after some reading it was the other way around. I've been travelling in nothing but NWA on my trips to the philippines and I enjoyed the flights and the stability when in the air. Of course the big Boeing 7 series are the best, namely the 767's. Anyway, I think I have one more time to travel on NWA early next year before I get married, a nice way to send off my favorite airline. I think NWA's signature symbol will completely be gone by the end of 2010.

  • i'm gonna miss their silver and red coulors at amsterdam :(

  • The Northwest sign on the hanger on 494 near 24th in MSP is gone. It is like a landmark is missing.......

  • I flew on northwest once and was impressed with their service, they colsely compaired with Wesjet in Canada in friendlines and service.

  • like TWA ... Northwest days are numbered

  • waaaa wats happening to northwest airlines?

  • they have merged with Delta Air Lines.

  • there merging with delta and ALL north west planes are will be Painted The new delta.

  • I liked the ATC bit at the end! Best airline out there, too bad its gone. well done sir. 5/5

  • I have never flown on NWA before, now I wont get the chance..... goodbye Northwest.

  • great picture at 2:20!

  • Northwest was THE BEST color scheme for the DC-10. God I love that red color and that NW logo was such a sleek and smart design

  • All the 18 years I worked for them before being layed off, I couldnt have imagined doing anything else. Thanks to the person that posted this.

  • dam it my first northwest flight was on a boeing 747 this brings back memories

  • Same here

  • bye northwest

  • I never flew NW. I didnt think they were good. But reading these comments tells me different. Farewell NW.

  • I had not always been a fan of Northwest (mostly due to aircraft interiors) but I now realize how much I will miss it, of my 50+ flights with them I was delayed only once, never lost any luggage, and service was always top notch, good bye and thank you NWA

  • Hope to keep your seeing inAmsterdam for a while, LOVE NWA!

  • i like nwa better than delta

  • I will miss these old Red-Grey-Black DC-10's and Silver-Red A330's.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRESENCE IN AMSTERDAM!!! WE WILL MISS YOU

  • its a shame NWA is no longer flying it had such a pretty livery the sliver and red was brill...

  • In fact . I still hope NW leave ND and work by themselves . NW had a SPECTACULAR paint and FANTASTIC hospitality . It was sad to merge with ND .

  • Nice video! I have a friend who flies the

A320 for Northwest (now Delta), and I sure hope Delta doesn't screw over the Northwest pilots.

  • I use to see Northwest A330's and the old DC-10's at Gatwick Airport (England) all the time. Great airline!!!!!

  • this really hits the heart NWA will always live you can paint the planes, change the name but our NWA family remains strong...

  • wonderful video. i have always loved this song, and it is bringing me to tears. i will always miss working for northwest airlines. the only thing i the video is missing is a shot of the "worldplane." sadly i never got to fly a trip on it. it would have been cool to have had a close-up shot of the bernie epple as well. but, hey, i'm NOT complaining. quite the contrary... WELL DONE!

  • I will miss NW's redtails on my trips to Asia. Farewell Northwest Airlines. You've been a very good friend through all my years of flying across the Pacific.

  • there are rumors that delta is going to scrap most of nwa airbuses in the next decade or less. Also delta will cancel or severley decrease the orders for the 787. anyway good luck to both airlines sad to see nwa go.

  • they started off very succesfully and were one of the top airliners in the sky.

and eventually they merged with delta.

and NWA was also to receive the first delivery of the B787 Dreamliner.

  • Fantastic.

    This video it's real aviaton

    history

  • why nwa dont fly again?

  • It has been taken over by Delta Airlines.

    :).

  • RIP NWA

First airlines I ever flew on back in the day

  • Hey frosa33, The duet is sung by Sara Brightman and Andrea Bocelli,"Con te Partiro" (Time to Say Goodbye).

  • great vid good music to
