  • It seems that while we have to tell the planners how we are going to reinstate a site to it's original beauty at the end of a project - the big power companies can let their sites fall to rack and ruin ... another case of one rule for us and another for the zeitgeist ...

  • Great project.

A word of warning to everybody reading though.

Before you start exploring derelict old factories etc, get some information on Asbestos and learn to spot it.

These places are often strewn with broken shards of it. If you disturb it, you could be in for a nasty shock in 20 or 30 years time. You could even take it home to your kids on your clothes.

Smokers 11x risk of lung cancer compared to non smokers

Smokers exposed to asbestos 55x risk of lung cancer.

    Take care :~)

  • woo.. nice place!

  • is it haunted cause ill go if it is looks spooky

  • i have recent photos of the site on facebook & prettymuch everything has changed nearly all the minor buildings have gone along with all the rubble the hoppers are cleared & ready to be dropped & theres array of plant machinery, kabins & a security guard there with one camera that views the center of site guard also calls the police out if anyone is seen on the land all exits have been blocked apart from side entrance near switching compound & railway siding entrance right at the rear

  • room height of water cos one of the sublevel has a sublevel below it but these guys didnt go into the hidden room even thou the steel plate were bent open enough to crawl thru & that paticular level were dry also anyone wanting a view of the site i recommend you dont go there or if needs are must to keep to the far back behind the cooling towers cos these days the same crew who started the demolition process off are back to level the rest off they have 24 hour guard onsite too.

  • none of the water i saw was murkyyou could clearly see the bottom & those arent the only 2 flooded areas there are 4 others like that but 5 times the size of those ones & from the looks of things someone tried to float a raft in one may have been to get the power cables from the inside edge of pit (slightly out of reach from above)& all the rooms you see in vid are flattend now none of the supply boards are there either

  • that water in the swirch room and out side looked well dark and infested

  • do u go on your own

  • im thinking about taking a look myself to the layout of the place cos ive never been in a coal powered power station only visited a nuclear one thats fully running years ago, even thou theres not much left to look at but there are lots of hidden pumps & machinery on site although in this vid you only show the front of the switchboard from the doorway im curius to know whats behind it & how deep is that flooded sub basement room thats full of water.

  • Interesting look at a strange place indeed. My own tenuous connection is that I work at servicing the industrial Avon engines you mention .

They still run in many locations!

  • After 3:00 , that stairway leading into the water is sooo creepy! Vids like this remind me of something like 'unreal' or 'half-life'!

I found some pics of this place via google aswell, very cool!

I find stuff like this simultaneously fascinating yet terrifying, I couldn't go in there on my tod! Well done for having the plums to do so though and taking some awesome footage!

  • this actualy made me laff its a cross between a jason voorhees style view and the view a space man would have of a derelict planet lolz (checks for lifesigns at 6:02)

shame they closed the station it was kinda cool and jobs are scarce nowadays

  • Is this where they filmed the final scene of Terry Gilliam's 1986 classic: "Brazil"?

  • @pinz2022

Not sure (the station shut down in 1994)

This place was in the final scenes of an ITV series called "The last train", mind

  • nice vid...was gonna go up there this weekend for some hdr photo's.....u gonna give me a clue what the trap is..??

  • Trap- i was referring to those lagoons in the centre, if you got in, you'd have a hard time getting out, if at all!

  • @Moodster020 all the lagoons have vertical ladders in them
