I think 16 years from the original games.... this game does something pretty new though. Sparkster has some new moves, and faces some old enemies. I played it and it's actually pretty good, especially when you hear an updated version of that classic music.

Its a decent game but honestly its no way near as good as the first game, for first time play through I found the enemies harder to hit cause of the bouncing bombs that sometimes don't hit the enemies.

Its really still worth my £15 the game still has that adoreable yet serious charm which is still liked in the series.

This game is to big for a normal Wii Ware game it will take up to much memory but you can put this on a 2 gb SD card.

I never got my hopes up that RKA will be on VC. nintendo rarely uploads any VC games these days all I see is a bunch of shitty wiiware games.

The only recent release on VC for the last month or two that is worth downloading is Fatal Fury 3 (neo geo) and Aero the acrobat 1&2 (genesis version)

there are pigs in this game according to the concept artwork on the rocket knight facebook/twitter page also all screenshots and artwork uploaded on my channel to which has a brief picture of the pigs with axel gear.

The graphics are bright and colorful, but there's no hierarchy. Everything in the foreground and background is treated with the same lighting and detail. It makes the whole thing look really chaotic. The game play seems smooth and responsive though. I hope the same level of creativity from the first game is applied to the level design on this new version.

I would have liked HD Hand-drawn graphics more than 2.5d (look at Street Fighter 2 HD Remix) but I guess I gotta take what they make. I'm still buying it though.

Me to SF2HDR has great HD sprites and artwork, but the creator of the new rocket knight game said "it was cheaper to make the game with 3D models than paying artists to design the sprites and amazeing backgrounds" sure the game feels cheep but the game still looks fun to play if you look at the new trailer there is alot of work put into this game and its very impressive for a new game that is downloadable in 2.5D style.

So making a game in 3d is now cheaper than using 2d sprites (or hd sprites)? That just boggles my mind! It seems like something is wrong with that equation, but if that's what the developers said then I guess it's true.

I really would have loved an HD 2d sprite New Super Mario Bros. Wii, or an HD 2d sprite Sonic 4, but I guess then that it's now out of the question.

Well if you think about it, with 3D models its easier to make each world and character also their movements without messing up while as 2D hand drawn animation is much harder to do also if you see some of the best 2D graphic games like castlevania SOTN, Super Metroid, metal slug and blazeblue just to name a few have alot of great detail to the characters with pixel perfected animation which isn't that easy to do.

With sonic 4... honestly man I gave up on sonic and its proberly for the best, the soundtrack for sonic 4 is as always amazeing but the trailer says there is another platform that hasn't been confirmed yet, if the game came out on PSP I might be convinced to play it cause I think the 3D visuals are suitable to be enjoyed on the PSP than just on the home console. I've lost my interest in the series and in most game franchises.

@Smokydoggg If you think about it, with 3D characters all you have to do is *make* the character once and then just move it in different poses whenever you need to make him do something... But with 2D, for every single motion the character makes, you have to re-draw a whole new frame... And THAT can get VERY tedious.

Interesting that they kept most of the original parts of the gameplay and tweak it some more than re-do the game and concentrate more on story than gameplay which ruins most games nowadays. However, I would have liked to see this done more better graphically as well too. I mean these are for next gen consoles, not flash game sites. I only hope that the developer will take their time and make it more visually better looking for a start

This is how you really re-boot a classic game, respect the characters, enemies, abilities and 2D gameplay you only need to upgrade the graphics and the music by remixing the original maybe you can upgrade the gameplay to give it a little more spice but don´t forget the basics.

Agree twice! 2010 looks to be a golden year for gameing, Rocket Knight, No More Heroes 2, Super Street fighter 4, New zelda wii, Mario Galaxy 2, Final Fantasy 13, Sonic needlemouse, Ratchet and clank Crack in time, capcom vs tatsunoko and mass effect 2.

The new style of the rocket knight may look as great as the other fans grew up with like I did but we are so happy that sparkster is getting a new game than just makeing cameo or unlockable character in DS track and field.
