You and your family are so fortunate to have each other. I found myself pulled in, mesmerized by the idyllic nature of everything as it unfolded. Without exception every aspect seemed to be attended with the care and attention that only a marriage of love and passion could produce. You have not only inspired me but fueled my imagination with hope that such things are possible. Thank you so much for sharing. I also would like to extend to all of you my sympathy for the loss of your uncle Mel.
Thank you for sharing a part of your life! I found myself not wanting it to end as I was feeling so peaceful watching everything unfold. It was nice to see someone fulfiling a dream and living it at the same time. The lessons being taught to your children are the things that we forget they need to experience. Thank you!
i covet your home! its amazing! i love goat milk!!! i love gardening, i love composting tolets! i love off the grid! i love everything about this video except it wasnt mine!! lol keep up the wonderful work! may i ask how long to build this? did you make the design, or buy it? thanks and G-D bless you and your wonderful family!
@wolfjack777 The house was finished enough to live in after about 5 months (for those 5 months we lived in tents on the property)...but it is a work in progress. It was our own design.
@thepamster10 that is very very impressive.. I guess I am far removed from the notion of making things for myself. However I have been considering building my own home for sometime now.. What was the initial cost involved for materials, tools and transporting to the site?
@rey9883 We had the tools. We hauled everything ourselves and as for the cost - a little at a time but for the house itself probably cost around $10,000.....then we added things - the cook stove, etc. - so the total was less then $15,000. We were able to use logs from our land and we had a creek to get mud from. We purchased the straw from a local farmer at a good price and got some things from auctions.
@AUTS4U The most it should cost is $15,000 (not including the land). Our house is 1000 sq. ft. and it cost under $15,000 to build. The biggest expenses were windows and solar panels. We are now in the process of painting the outside and have added a wrap around porch - so there is alway more to spend.
YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE TRULY TRULY LIVING THE DREAM.. YOUR HOUSE IS BEAUTIFUL AS WELL AS YOUR FAMILY AND LIFE STYLE..ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS I HAVE EVER SEEN ON YOU TUBE...
You folks have a beautiful family and wonderful home! Your kids are so lucky to live that way... that's really living! I'm 36 and wish I would have grown up in that same setting. Now that we have been forced to do it-it has been a blessing and I only hope my son can appreciate it when he is older. Your children look as if they are loving it! So far we have the land, well, goats, chickens, ect. so we are on our way.. Thank you for the inspiration!
@FreeRange1234 It is not for sale at this time.....sometimes it seems like the grass may be greener somewhere else - but nowhere is perfect and this homesite would be hard to beat.
There is green and then there are you guys who are super green. Wow! I would love to do it like this but we got building codes up the yin and yang but at least I can do something similar.
OMG This is absolutely wonderful! I didn't think it was possible to ever go back because we have complicated life so much. Congrats to your family and may you continue to live the good life.
This is one of the best examples of green living that i have ever seen, not only do you use the resources to every benefit they can give you have a beautiful family and a beautiful home, kudos to the wonderful way of living!
