  • Awesome!

  • Do you have anything else with Dave on lead? Dave's one of the Best in my opinion. In style and sound. He really knew how to lead his section!

  • Woody's best Herd - I think - and a great flag-waver tune, featuring Jim Pugh's incredible plunger muted t-bone solo.

This roaring band is just plain Vintage Herman!

    Thanks, Brian!

He doesn't show it here, but I can recall from seeing Jim a number of times live with Woody, he's every bit as technical/range player as Bill Watrous.. The guy is a monster.

    Exactly! Always loved Jimmy's playing.

I've listened to Woody's "40th Anniversary" LP so many times, over the decades, that I know by heart every note of Jim's many solo turns on that historic dbl LP. His treatment of that old Bill Harris number called "Everywhere" was phenomenal, but my favorite from that album was his astonishing take on Chuck Mangione's "She's Gone" - an achingly sad & beautiful vocal ballad.

  • @StradMan37 Best herd my ass. Mid sixties herd was the best.

  • @StradMan37 Best herd my ass. Mid sixties herd was the best. Electric bass sounds like a cheap game show.
