Hi, ive watched your vid, it seems like most jap bikes. if you leave it standin he platews will dry out and stick toether. just pull all of he plates apart and you should have no oher problem. ive done it wih a few jap bikes with no other issues, hope it helps
@wookidoooo I have never seen this problem before this bike. of coarse my bikes don't sit either. I did have to leave them in the oil for some time and clean them to get it working smooth.
Thanks for this vid, gotta do mine soon, one thing i noticed when my tiger does this, after a really long run say 40miles + gearing is faultless. I do a lot of short runs and the oil gets crapped up thanks to condensation.
@Zer0kbps I believe that I am having the same problem.. it really is not a good city driver.. it really like the open highway... I have thought about getting a smaller bike for around town but.. still in the thinking stage.
Wow... Lets talk about PO's... Some people just don't get proper maint. and upkeep of bikes... My KLR was actualy a basket case (like me). I'm steadly bringing Vader back from neglect.
@sgtmarkins yea, the sad thing on this is it had not been maintained and there was only 5k on the od... I think they actually missed the break in oil change from the look of it.
Hmmm.... If it happens in the forums I am assuming the factory doesn't have a fix for it yet. Sounds familiar! The KLR has known defects, That are cured with afterMarket fixes. I hate that you are having to go thru this crap. I knew the known issues with the KLR so I had already planned to fix them all! Hope it works for ya ! Tom
@navythomas8 it seems to be working perfect now... I do not believe that there was really a "factory defect" more that they are not being adjusted correctly and the oil was past due being changed.. now all we need is some really good weather and a TON of really good miles!
@britex3186 Thanks, really it was fun to tear into and see really how well it is made.. it was done well.. it appears that it is resolved and that the problem may have been lack of proper maintenance from the previous owner and proper adjusting...

@L0udP1p35 I ended up using the Mobil1 oil that I put in the bike... I kinda wonder if they might have put the wrong oil in it.. dunno...

great job mate. I have been wondering if you still had the same issue with the clutch. I have not had that happen on my 2010.
