well, you heard it from jackie stewart himself: today's crop of drivers is as good as it were all the way back in 1969. so much for today's drivers not being as good as drivers beforehand.
@FormulaOneFan4Eva Well, given that the talent pool is much greater (growing population, more countries competing, etc.) the level of the best drivers is almost certainly better, if pure skill could be so neatly distilled. Still, the sport has lost the romance of its pioneering era, but that's a natural development.
So deliriously happy Jenson won, should be a good championship next year, se should have Button, Webber, Vettel, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Alonso and Massa all going for the title, today (20th Oct 09) I will go for Button or Vettel

Seem to remember Jackie you weren't too keen on Jenson from the start, I seem to remember :"Why have we got these school kids here?" comment when he first joined F1?
JYS was bang on yet again. JB has been an even better driver after winning the WDC in 09

if you read his autobiography, he actually states that he believes jenson to be a future world champion, and that book was published some years ago.

Stewart's right: there's real crop of talented drivers right now. Would love to see Webber win it at some point.
