i've watched the us series for two times, I watch the original for the first time, but I really like it :) it's nice and easy, and their appearence is not the most important thing, Nathan is cute though, and Stuart just looks like an ordinary man, which is not bad
@hobbespalm not to a lot of people across the world. US version is better because I actually liked the characters, despite their flaws........ I watched the UK one before the American one and I thought, well, it's got humor and everything but that's about it, I couldn't really relate to any of them. I could relate to the US cast a lot better. Justin was also a million times better than Nathan.
@snillocgrom was kinda the same to me, but the other way round. I watched the US and couldn't half make it through episode 1, cause the characters couldn't get any sympathy out of me. Then i found out, there's the UK one and i loved it immediatly *shrugs*
@Wolfscat333 I understand. To be quite honest I didn't get what the UK cast was saying when they spoke.....during the first 20 minutes of the UK pilot I was drawing a complete blank of what was going on. This is of course due to my complete lack of exposure to british colloquialisms and its general culture. I was just not familiar with the way people acted, but that's my problem.
@hobbespalm but that's probably due to the unfortunately too short UK version and its ludicrous ending. UK was very fun to watch but it didn't stir my soul like the US version.
I had to skip the sex scenes in this one. Im sorry, but its just way too weird to know that Nathen is only 15 years old. At least in the american version 17 was somewhat legal considering the age of consent ranges between 16 and 18 depending on the state.
I lived in Manchester for many years, the British version is much more realistic and gritty than the American One. I see a lot of myself and my earlier life in these guys....
Gotta way in on this: Gale Harold, OH HELL YEA, lot hotter than Aidan Gillen, but Randy Harrison v. Charlie Hunnam-NO WAY! Just the first seasons alone, look at Randy and look here at Charlie, no comparison, Charlie is way hotter. Too bad they didn't bring Charlie over to be Justin, a little of the original in the US version, would have been hot to see him and Gale together!
@kaidosbuddy You've got to fucking kidding me!! THAT lil guy better than Randy? Compare their acting skill, compare their looks, compare their beauty! GOD! I'm offended! lol. but really. Randy Harrison is tha JUSTIN.
Stuart is nth at all as sexy as Brian is, nor Nathan as Justin. But that might be that I don't like British TV. I'm going back to my US version, Them I do understand at least
Yes, Gale Harold is infinitely sexier than the british lead, and I do like the US version better for sure. But for me Charlie Hunnam is and will always be a thousand times hotter than Randy Harrison.
Vince as the liar who is so sad while Stuart is the wonderful stud is a great story. Stuart cannot imagine Vince as the sexy, amazing, fantastic stud he's meant to be is awesome!
Seriously, can people get a grip? Hotter actors does NOT = better show. The UK version is realistic, funny, edgy and original. The characters are well rounded and more than flat archetypes. (This means it's GOOD)
US version is essentially soft core porn that calls itself "edgy" and "daring" by having sex scenes instead of plot or character development.
@SeeThinkFall I find it ridiculous that you call the UK's characters well rounded and more than flat archetypes when the creator of the UK version admits that they ARE supposed to be archetypes.
@sparkleytangerine Yes, RTD took several archetypes of the gay community and through the course of the series transformed them into identifiable human beings. Whereas the US version seriously believed they were writing 'characters' when there was barely any growth to speak of (I will admit to the exception of Michael who developed and became almost tolerable during his relationship with Ben and adoption of Hunter)
@sparkleytangerine Yes, he admits to the characters being archetypal, but not as flatly so as the American version. Stop worshipping yourself america and see how the UK version at least tries to get mental gears to shift. But can we argue with the country that brought us CSI Miami X(...
@seri0us I agrre I like that justinis older . does seem wrong that nathan is only 15. at least brian went with someone that yes was still a kid at the time but I can't see brian having sex with a 15 year old.
@seri0us yh it is weird to us but age of consent in uk is 16 so it is one year younger is the same in the us one where justin is 1 year younger than age of consent
i don't get it, how come the acting is worse on this one, but the show as a whole seems more realistic? maybe cause the script wasn't adapted and stuff.
@kvkaha sorry, i've just watched this one again and vince is really unconvincing. 5 months ago, when i wrote that comment i was used to american accents too much to see that the uk version is pretty realistic after all (im neither british nor american) after 5 months of watching british shows i can judge it better, but vince is still really bad. maybe he gets better throughout the show, i dunno, but right here, nope, not a real actor. especially the rooftop scene.
i dont like that stuart is so nice, brian is so edgy, which in my opinion is sexier. theres something about the us version i like better, it clicks better and the actings better, and generally i love anything by russel t. davies, so i can definatly see why this one only lasted a season and a half :(
@simphyxoxo You silly! This lasted only for a short time because the story laster only for a short time! They didn't try to make it any longer, because they weren't after money as in the US version. The length of a TV show doesn't tell if the show is good or bad! (just think about the Simpsons!)
@simphyxoxo the acting is better in the us version, but somehow stuart seems more believable. brian is just... too much of an asshole to be real, i guess.
@simphyxoxo seriously only a season and a half. at least we got 5 seasons out of the US queer as folk. I am glad that the uk version came only just so we were able to get the US version out of it.
Apples and Oranges. They really are two totally different shows. The UK version has a different, more quirky sense of humour. But the US version had more to prove (The UK had gay visibility far earlier than America) so sexuality was more in your face. Plus it had your usual American venire (less realistic sex scenes/changing Justin's age/not having Ted die from the drug overdose ect.)
haha seems like you're the only one! but thanks :) I hade 5 thumbs down on that comment. LOL xD why even bother clicking the thumb?! it's just a comment! an opinion! ppl should get new lives instead of getting upset about a comment on YouTube :P haha
