@tlast2O12dude when u say u will use the same weight per leg,do u mean cut the two legged squat in half? lie iwas gonna do 270 squat for wither an easy set of 10, or a failure set of 20 on bench squats...are you saying to do stepups with 270? or do it with 135? also is the stepup equal to ur atg squat or ur bench squat cause obviously bench squat is much easier than atg i can rep weights that are LIKE 50 pounds over my atg max
@rctriplefresh5 you use %50 of what you whould use on squat and your setup should put your knee above your hips to emulate a below parallel squat.
Obviously this is not for doing singles. If you squat 220x5 and you feel your back sore, you can do 110x5 stepups per legs. %50 less spinal compression, but same leg exercise, same results.
Finally a true barbell step up - knees higher than hips, good upper body stability. Your are shifting legs from the descent (never seen that - but hey why not). Maybe try to start the step up with even more squeeze.
awesome!

no, there's a reason you're doing a unilateral stepup instead of a bilateral squat... it's not because they're the same movement.
